23.01.2022 How's everyone faring? We hope that you are keeping well and have everything you need during this difficult time. We have recently noticed an increased interest in our weighted products. Weighted animals in particular are popular with a range of people for different reasons. It might be a child with a sensory processing disorder, an adult with anxiety or an older person in care who has had to leave a pet behind. The weight of the plush animal provides a calming deep pressur...e sensory input. It relaxes and soothes and can be petted and cuddled. The perfect friend for someone who may need to be in isolation at the moment. We have a large range of these animals which we weight ourselves here in Melbourne with the expert support of our seamstresses from the Burmese (Myanmar) refugee community. So our range is able to expand and evolve as we find new products to weight. Some of the photos were taken last spring, hence the animals are not social distancing!

20.01.2022 There is nothing quite like seeing your loved one when you chat! Especially when we are all staying at home away from family, some of whom may be living alone. Today Ian and his mum, the lovely Audrey, demonstrate the easiest video phone option for a loved one who might find mobile phones a bit overwhelming. This is not surprising - all those buttons and apps on smart phones can be just plain confusing. And it's often hard to see with small icons and on screen buttons. Not... to mention trying to figure out how to use Messenger or Zoom for a family video chat. No wonder people give up! We are offering a special 'Stay Home & Stay Connected' deal for a limited time only. This is offered at cost as a community service during these challenging times to help families and friends stay in touch. The deal is only $198 which is 20% off the regular price for this new package. This includes the smart phone with the apps installed. CALL 03 97379000 to order one at this price before the end of June. This phone uses the Easy Mobile Phone App from Unique Perspectives, the same people that brought you HouseMate It is FREE for Android phones in the Play store. So you don't need to buy the phone from us if you have a phone and can set it up yourself. But if you want that service, it's there for you. We'd love to know what you think? Do you know of someone this might help? Please pass it on. You can download the Easy Mobile Phone app for FREE from here... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details

17.01.2022 Sensory devices help people to de-stress and relax. They calm and soothe through colour and movement. They also help people to engage with their environment through sensory exploration. For this reason, Sensory rooms are becoming features of hospitals, schools and aged care facilities. With this new kit you can have a sensory experience in your own home.... You can set it up in any spot for yourself or loved one, and enjoy the displays. They are transportable between rooms and houses. The seven items in this kit are our most popular. So we have packaged them up and are giving a 15% discount, making them really affordable. To find out more, follow the product tag, or call Row on 03 97379000 to order yours.

14.01.2022 How's it going? We would love to hear how you are keeping busy while at home. We are still open, with a couple of people socially distancing in the office everyday to answer phones, assemble and ship products and the rest of us wearing our pajamas to the "home office." Oh yeah, come to think of it, that might just be me. Like everyone we have been experimenting with ways to keep in touch with staff and clients. Which of course means all that technology has to offer, in this ...case Zoom and its array of backgrounds. Last week, Ian Porter, (many of you will know Ian from Housemate and other techie things) 'zoomed' me from the spare bedroom where the cats Lily and Coco had zoom bombed him ( I think that's a thing). And as we know Cats rule the internet!! So here is Tecsol's contribution to the burgeoning cats as co-workers montages #catsworkingfromhome See more

07.01.2022 Feeling isolated lately? Having a disability can mean constant isolation for many. Has COVID 19 actually changed this for the better for some? She appears in the preview of the show and talks about some of the wonderful things this crazy COVID 19 life has brought to her.....like Telehealth, listening to a live MSO concert and well, check out the video to hear more! And Ricky and I set you a challenge. How many TS products can you see in her room? https://www.sbs.com.au/news/insight/tvepisode/confined

06.01.2022 It's been a bit quiet here on our Facebook page while we have been busy working out social distancing and 'work from home' arrangements for our staff. We are pleased to say that we are still very much OPEN FOR BUSINESS and answering your calls, emails and taking orders. If you are a person with a disability or a carer, you may find this link below from the Australian Federation of Disability Organisations really helpful. It has a lot of info you might need during this stressful time in one place, which we think is an awesome idea! It includes the latest updates on accessing Supermarkets, the NDIS, medication, support services and plain language and interpreted information. We hope it helps and that you and yours are keeping well. https://www.afdo.org.au/coronavirus-covid-19-information/

05.01.2022 Considering a switch adapted toy and not sure what your child, grandchild, client or pupils would like? It's often really hard to decide from a photo and description. We have a collection of videos on our YouTube channel you can browse through when you have a spare minute. Each video demonstrates the toy's key features such as music, lights and various functions. It will make your choice so much easier :) https://www.youtube.com/playlist

05.01.2022 Just a quick post to say thank you so much for your continued support and to give you a Covid update. As you may know, we are based in Silvan, which is on the outer edge of Melbourne, so we are back to Stage 3 restrictions (aka as lock down). This means we are mostly working from home. We are also experiencing delays with components and products being shipped to us, which delays our production and shipping out.... So our apologies if it is taking us longer to respond to you and get your packages out. With everyone's safety in mind, we continue our suspension on all non urgent home visits in Victoria. However, as happens across the rest of Australia (where we can’t do home visits), we are always available to help you and your OT set up your equipment using teleconferencing. We are also using remote methods to maximise our ability to view your set up and advise on installation and any modifications. A sincere thank you to everyone for your patience! Hopefully we will all be back to normal before the Babushka doll in the photo reveals another family member needing to mask up!

04.01.2022 It's come around again....our lovely Kate's birthday. And yet again another opportunity for the design team to come up with a technical solution. This time to blow out candles without breathing all over the cake! A simple jelly bean switch, connected to a fan, did the trick! But does it beat last year's lack of matches, 'but hey, I've got a blow torch in the workshop', solution? You be the judge. ... What's your favourite? And yes, Kate's fave cake is orange almond cake! Happy Birthday Kate!

03.01.2022 From the brilliant people that brought you Housemate, this free app is helping the elderly and others stay in touch by turning the average android mobile phone into a simple to use mobile phone during the Coranavuirus! I am def going to give this a go with my mum. Great thinking HouseMate
