19.01.2022 Plant based eating is definitely on the rise, with more and more people subscribing the the lifestyle, I myself have been a vegetarian for 3 years and have recently made the decision to transition to an Ovo vegetarian, meaning I don't consume any other animal products other than eggs. Why only eggs you are probably asking? Well this leads me into this fantastic article by @sportsdietaust (LINK IN OUR BIO) looking into the considerations for a plant based diet, and one of the ...common areas of concern is iron. I have struggled with low iron levels for quiet some time now as a female endurance runner I fall into the group of people more at risk of iron deficiency so when evaluating my diet I made the decision to include eggs in my diet to assist with maintinence of my iron levels as an athlete, so that I don't have to be on supplements whilst I continue to work towards increasing my plant based iron consumption. My story is simply one example of going plant based on your terms and not feeling as though you have to be all in or all out, everyone can benefit from eating more plant based food whether it be full time, part time or just trying to include some more meals in your regular recipes. If you are a plant based runner I would love to hear from you on how you manage your diet to optimize your training! . . . . . #tempoandstride #geelongrunners #femalerunner #geelongsmallbusiness #womeninbusiness #geelongbusinesswomen #running #runner #runningishealthy #plantbasedrunner #plantbaseddiet #vegan #vegetarian #ovovegetarian #health #plantbasedathlete #geelongvegetarian
