21.01.2022 HEARD IN THE 'HOOD Yes, it's Halloween this weekend. And if you're wondering where the best spots are to take the kids trick or treating Saturday night here...'s some tips for you. Stuart Street & Crawford Roads Minglewood. Start your evening at the Kustom Klaws Community Kids Trick or Treat at 5:00pm and then follow the crowds from the Beaufort Street end of Stuart right down to the railway line. Also in Inglewood is the Community Trick or Treat Chakra Restaurant from 5pm where you can swing by before hitting the Inglewood or Mount Lawley Avenues which are always good for a mini feast. Alexander Park Tennis Club is providing a refuge from the madness that typically occurs in the surrounding streets of Menora and opening their bar at 3:30pm with Woodfired Pizza available from 4:00pm. If you want the kids to consume some carbs before hoovering up all that sugar this is going to be a good place to start! (and there's $7pints and $5 house wines - just sayin'...) There's a Halloween Night Market at Bic Reserve in Bassendean (behind the library) from 5 to 8pm with competitions and prizes starting at 6pm if you like the idea of staying in one place. Combining WA Bike Month Pedal and Spook - Halloween ride and picnic is an approx 1-1.5 hour community bike ride starting at Bardon Park in Maylands at 9:30am (arrive at 9:00) and ending with a BYO community picnic. And adults sans enfants can head to the Halloween Party - Inglewood Hotel from 6pm with prizes and giveaways for the most spooky costume and scary movies playing on the screens. It was a cracking day weatherwise and was matched by the level in tennis as the boys... pushed through the 30 degree heat on the hardcourts. In early January 2021, State League players Reuben and Oscar Giorgio together with SL squad and Div 1 player Connor Lord are heading off to study and play tennis in the US Collegiate system. Congratulations to Reuben, Oscar and Connor for earning this great opportunity to travel and being part of an elite system. All members and supporters are invited to come and pass on your best wishes to these talented players on Friday 18 December from 5:00 onwards. Drinks and food are available for purchase.
