14.01.2022 It’s time to get serious about recycling batteries! Cassowary Coast residents can now recycle their used and unneeded household batteries for recycling. When b...atteries end up in general landfills, the chemicals inside can leak, polluting the land and water. This has the potential to be even more devastating in the Wet Tropics area, which is the world’s oldest tropical rainforest. There is no cost for households to drop off batteries and the bins are located at the following waste transfer stations: Stoters Hill- Open Monday to Friday between 7:30am to 5:00pm. Saturday and Sunday open from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Tully- Open Monday to Friday between 8:00am to 5:00pm. Saturday and Sunday open from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Bells Creek- Open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday between 10:00am to 2:00pm. Mission Beach- Open Monday, Wednesday, Friday between 10:00am to 5:00pm. Saturday and Sunday open from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Cardwell- Open Monday, Wednesday, Friday between 10:00am to 5:00pm. Saturday and Sunday between 10:00am to 2:00pm.
