22.01.2022 We are pleased to feature local artist, Selena Smith! Her work titled Bollywood Daze is on show in our window Read her art journey below: I have always been creative and recently found drawings from when I was six.... I finally did formal art training in North Queensland and graduated in 2006 and celebrated my fortieth birthday...what a great year that was I rarely use a brush and love the texture that other objects can bring to a canvas , I can do traditional portraitists and landscapes but prefer to abstract what I see utilising found object and everyday items. This piece I used forks, doilies, bubble wrap and cardboard and it’s called Bollywood Daze. I am inspired by colour and texture and my garden reflects that, also planting madly to paint it....I admire Monet and also the fauvists.......all of them used colour and flipped art on its head I love using the Fibonacci sequence to distort the human form and playing with what is considered perfection. My hubby Is in the army and we have moved over twenty times and now we’ve finally built our forever home in Eganstown. After years of moving and managing galleries & art stores, teaching art to kids and adults with special needs around Australia you can now find me at Overwrought Gallery in Blampied. This year, 2020 has been a hiatus from art as I adjust to a new world and planting our garden In Eganstown ,we have just about finished my gardens studio and I am super excited to channel my own garden into art works .
