22.01.2022 We bred up these beautiful babies (Mixophyes balbus) for this release program and now they are big enough to leave home and ready to re-establish their species. Breeding for conservation is part of what we do at The Frogarium frog zoo. Good luck little ones!

18.01.2022 Look at this lovely green #treefrog, Litoria caerulea! So pretty. The blue string behind this #frog is attaching one of our zoo keeper's enclosure enrichment devices. She has been trying out a range of designs to see what each species likes best and refining her ideas (thank you Jeannie). The frogs are loving it! #frogzoo #coffs #frogsofinstagram #frogstagram #zoo #native #wildlife

14.01.2022 I'm having fun recording more wild frogs for FrogID week. Are any of you joining in too? Easy to do!

11.01.2022 Phylogenetic signal in day calling- see post for further information!

07.01.2022 Today #thefrogarium staff were busy moving more enclosures and setting them up again. I caught this bizarre picture of a #frog swimming that I thought I'd share. The reflection is off the surface of the water from underneath (it's eyes are above the water, so you can't see them). Can you work out it's species? I'll give you a hint: it's #endangered in NSW. #native #frogsofinstagram #frogstagram #coffs #frogzoo

04.01.2022 Hoppy #frogweek everyone! Our Litoria Chloris Red-eyed green #treefrogs have been calling loudly of late and now we have tadpoles! So lovely to finally have some decent rain to help out the wild #amphibians too. #frogzoo #thefrogarium #Frogs #froggies #frogsofinstagram #frogstagram #native #coffs #coffsharbour #coffscoast #australia

03.01.2022 This Peron's tree #frog (Litoria peronii) was hiding so well that we nearly missed it when moving them. A quick catch by one of our zoologists (Lara) has ensured it is reunited with the other peronii. Such a cutey! This species has been mistaken for cane toads because it sometimes has warty looking skin but it isn't anything like one! This #treefrog is an excellent climber and can change colours from a cream colour to dark brown (with emerald green flecks). #frogzoo #thefrogarium #froggie #frogsofinstagram #frogstagram #coffs #moving #native #australian (hopefully reopening to the public around Christmas time in our new location)
