11.01.2022 According to Sarah Perkins-Kirkpatrick, from the University of New South Wales’ climate change research centre, everything about the fires, drought and floods is unprecedented. She says it is hard, after years researching and speaking to the media about the link between emissions and extreme heat, to find the right words to describe what the country is now experiencing. Climate scientists have been banging on about it longer than I’ve been alive, Perkins-Kirkpatrick says.... We all knew at some point that everything would come together in a perfect storm to make people fully realise climate change is here and now it is. We aren’t surprised, but we are equally shocked and saddened. As the fires continue to burn Australia to ashes there are some particular representatives from the media, politics and public that refuse to acknowledge that these events are climate change induced which can ultimately further paralyse action. There isn’t a debate on this...not a scientific one at least. We as humans are driving climate change, therefore the extreme droughts and fires that have now consumed the majority of Australian lives. This is a time where we need to accept the mistakes of our past...practise empathy towards others, then stand up to take massive action on the environmental challenges we face, together. 2019 has been one mostly of pain, tragedy and loss. But it has also been a turning point...for the first time in history the whole world came together to demand action on a challenge that we all face, and our young people are leading the way with a renewed energy. 07.01.2022 It is easy and seems almost futile, to look back and get caught up in the game of blame, blaming arsonists, politicians, greenies and the rest, generally pointing the finger in a state of panic, while the Australian Bushfires are still wildly out of control and our late summer has really only just begun. . It's a helpless feeling and it can be hard to know how to what to do, when surrounded by such horrific tragedy. . We decided not to look back and blame but to accept that a...s part of the human race, we, together are responsible for global warming and for the degradation of our Mother Earth in general. . We looked forward, considered the options, worked the overtime and donated a humble $500 towards the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.
