23.01.2022 Dont get too focused on your breathing. Find a breathing pattern that works for you. If you get fixated on your breathing then you create an anxiety around feeling short of breath. This then causes panic. Yes, youre going to be puffed, its exercise. Accept that youll be puffed and just keep pushing through. Breathing is not a new concept. Youve been doing it since you were born.
23.01.2022 When training for the Military and Police, its not just about doing the things you like and enjoy. You have to work hard at the things you dont enjoy as well. You cant rock up to work on day and say actually... I dont like doing that so Ill just sit in the office today. It doesnt work like that. Be comfortable with the uncomfortable. Dont avoid things just because they arent your cup of tea. Prepare your mind to cope with doing stuff you dont love so that when it comes down to it... you can do anything you are required to do in your chosen service. 17.01.2022 Can't even do 1 push-up? Don't stress. Most people can't do any pushups when they start. If you've never really done them before then how can you be expected to be an expert at it? The best place to start is with pushup regression exercises. Don't be afraid of regressions and definitely don't be ashamed of them. It's the most effective way to train until you're ready to do them on the ground.... You can practice these at home. Use any furniture around your house to elevate your body. Keep the technique the same as if you were to do them on the ground. Remember all the common faults? 07.01.2022 Avoid running on the treadmill. Its too safe as it moderates the speed for you and doesnt expose you to the elements. Run outside to create a realistic environment to what youll experience at Basic Training.
