24.01.2022 Friends, the studio has been gussied up and I’m ready to welcome you in again. Ft my fabby new logo designed by @luckynumbervintage Do reach out if you’d like to work together. Sending love to all

23.01.2022 I’m sure there’s quite a few of you that had to pull the pin on varying celebrations this weekend despite envisioning yourselves like this couple: in your gladrags and loved up. My heart goes out to you, it really does I often envisage the overarching puppet masters of life looking at an aerial view of the world; observing our near misses and easily able to make sense of it all because they have space and perspective. I think of them yelling things like give it more time..., something better is on its way and you dodged a bullet there. Given that we’re each the main characters in our story and are so invested and involved, it can be hard to make sense of why things unfold as they do sometimes. Whilst idealistic in nature I often come back to my fave line from my fave poem: And whether or not it is clear to you, No doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Take care of yourselves and each other and I’ll do my best to keep supporting you. M PS I absolutely have days when I’m salty af, catastrophise and eat my feels.. In these moments I try to grab the wheel, reframe the situation and choose my ‘tude. It is as simple and as difficult as it sounds and is a practice that I’ve been cultivating to keep the gremlins at bay Image by @mstahneejade HMUA @thedistinctivedame #vintagebride#laidbackbride#rocknrollbride#melbournewedding#melbournebridetobe#bridetobe#weddinginspo#vintageweddinghair#belovedstories#loveandwildhearts#realwedding#thatsdarling#togetherjournal#heyheyhellomay#huffpostido#retrobride#bridestyle#melbournebride#weddingday#wokeweddingpros#retrostyle#70sfashion#love#waves#instaweddings#thedistinctivedame

22.01.2022 I've been tinkering away in the shadows - distilling ideas and revisiting old ones. This timelapse was taken moons ago. Much has changed since then. I have such fondness for this studio and many beautiful memories. So glad and grateful that I still get to do what I love. <3 M PS I'm listening to Joker 2019 Official Soundtrack (an Excellent recommendation from a client). Such a beautiful score and mixtape. ... 21.01.2022 Ahoy Friends, It has been another chunk of time since I’ve shown my face on here.. I’ve been looking after clients in real time - bridal babes, one-on-one classes for folk wanting a new look or to master some elusive technique they’ve seen on the ‘tube and folk wanting to get fancy coz they’ve forgotten how to. It’s been so great to connecting with clients and picking up my brushes again!... My hiatus is a flow on from last year. I spent more time away from this platform than in it. Doing what you ask? Learning mostly. Uplevelling my mindset and biz practices via the help of @hayleycarr.tv Strengthening my intuitive skills via the guidance of @starseed_awakening @angelpsychic @kim.clairvoyant Refining my hair + biz skills via @caraclyne.bridal & @hairboss.university Discovering what a great online beauty biz can look via @soniarosellibeauty I consider myself a student of life and thus am always learning. It was such a gift and privilege to be able to spend 6 or so months last year deep diving and nurturing the different facets of my biz and life. Feeling excited, empowered and enlivened on this side of things and will share some of my learnings and insights as time goes on. Love to all Photo by @laurenmarrphotography Assisted by @sassyvoodoodoll

19.01.2022 Weooo! Glad to see the studio building at #4. Some other beauts on the list. Will have to go exploring some time soon.

16.01.2022 I caught up with a very old pal the other day, one that helped set me up when I moved to Melbs all those years ago. She was so kind and generous - letting me stay with her for 2 months, despite the initial arrangement being 2 weeks.. I’m very much the kinda babe that likes to pay it forward and thus did the exact same thing for a pal when they moved to Melbourne.. ... In the context of my business I’ve been the recipient of pennies, fabby clients, kind reviews, love and support which makes my heart explode. If folk are so willing to invest in me, it’s only fair that I invest in them, right?! Cue my fabby outfit The key pieces of this lewk are by fellow independent biz babes: dress by @ms_edgeley shades by @adelemildred rings by @bloodmilk and @heartofbone_ ear jewels by @christienicolaides All people whose work I admire and appreciate so much - their artisanship, care and flair I understand that we each value different things and it might not be a priority to buy a handmade garment or a coffee from your local cafe. There are lots of other ways to circulate your good vibes: reviews / kind words, recommendations, resharing or following peeps. I appreciate everyone that’s done this for me and will continue to do so to keep that cycle of goodwill going With love, always #edgeleybabes #adelemildred #bloodmilk #heartofbone #sportsgirlstyle #kesterblack #shoplocal #bizbabe #curvyfashion #hmua #waves #shorthairdontcare #shorthairinspo #witchyvibes #blacklace #velvetdress #leopardlover #melbournefashion

13.01.2022 Giddy-up, horsey. I loved working on this project because it was one which really spoke to and teased out a lot of my creative energy. There is something electrifying about co-creating with fellow creative powerhouses. ... Whilst I love nurturing and styling my vintage and bridal babes, I also come alive during these kinds of play dates. They’re often an opportunity to tap into and showcase my eclecticism; where in this case fashion meets fetish. 04.01.2022 One of the last weddings I got to work on prior to covid-chaos was this one. The gold gown made my heart squeal as did being able to look after Anna. The inspo for this look was Rita Hayworth in Gilda, with a slightly modern take. Fluffy ‘40s hair, an iconic gown (this was a last minute decision, and I’m in support of it ) and the lush flower crown. I love how vivid the colours are in this shot, a lovely pre-covid memory For those bri...dal babes out there that may want to get the ball rolling re: planning (or postponing) their 2020/2021/2022 weddings / celebrations of love, I’m trying to be as flexible and accommodating as I can be to work around your needs. Always taking the nurturing approach and offering as much support as I can. Looking forward to working together Photo by @nossovitzky See more

04.01.2022 It’s been a while friends. I wanted to connect and let you know where I’m at with life and the biz

02.01.2022 There’s this photo of Rita Hayworth in Gilda that I’ve been shown many times over the years. Her hair isn’t sleek and glossy like a pageboy or Hollywood wave. It’s full, fluffy and frizzy which is what makes it so iconic (you can swipe through to see what I’m talking about). Leeor asked me to recreate a style I’d done on a shoot and this is how it turned it. Her hair is Much longer than Ms Hayworth’s but I wanted to show an example of frizzy and fluffy hair that I created. ... If you want to have a go at doing this - choose one of these tools / techniques: A teeny curling wand - 13mm or less Hot sticks - you might need 2 or more sets depending on your hair length and thickness A pincurl set - the OG way to create these waves Foam rollers - slightly easier than pin curling your whole head Some notes on creating the style The key to this look is fluff and frizz. Whilst you’re able to see the wave patterns, you don’t want definition like a Hollywood wave. Curl your hair in small sections Use your fingers to separate the curls and back comb the bottom layers to create fullness and stability Use a working hairspray as you go along. Be liberal with it for a long lasting style. Use a bristle brush to smooth over the top layers of hair - you don’t want to see any matting from the teasing Work in the mirror to frame the face REMEMBER that the hair will look hella ringlety at first which turns most folk off. Be patient and brush and brush and brush some more. It’s all about the #brushout Hit me up with any questions you have Makeup and photo by @evielowemakeup Hair by @thedistinctivedame
