19.01.2022 When you don’t make time for your wellness, you’ll be forced to make time for your illness. I know out of the two which one I prefer! Taking care of your health and wellbeing doesn’t have to mean hours of forcing yourself to go to the gym, running miles or spending hours of your day doing so. Nor does it need to be physically strenuous. For me, I find that not fun AT ALL. If you enjoy it though, hey that’s great! But honestly if I tell myself you have to go to 6 classes, ... jog an hour or go to the gym five times a week - I immediately feel stressed. So already, I’m on the back foot and I haven’t even moved from my chair yet! How likely do you think I am to do it, even for a week? I’ll tell you. ZERO. And I know I’m not alone here. At a time when many of us are back in lockdown, the levels of physical movement in our day, and our kids and teens day, arent even close to where they generally are. So its fair to say the levels of mental peace and calm are also a far cry from what wed all like to be experiencing. Tween and teen yoga therapy classes are a solution we are offering to support your children at this challenging time. Delivered via Zoom on Tuesdays at 4....15-5.15pm. 16.01.2022 Your breath can be thought of as the catalyst for inner circulation and is your number one healing tool. And where attention goes, your breath goes, your qi flows. So often in our yin yoga practice we bring out attention to the sensations and areas of tension we can feel within our body, and then use our breath to help dissipate it. Mentally imagining, sending the breath to the area of tension and allowing it to support us, unravelling and dissolving, one slow, deep, mindful ...breath at a time. In TCM your breath is the number one healing tool you have available to you. And its free! Consciously breathing to your toes, your belly, to areas of tension, allows your qi to flow and support unblocking any areas of stagnation or stuck energy, assisting in enhancing the flow of qi throughout your body. When qi gets stuck, problems start. Which is why taking time each day for a few minutes of mindful breathing is so good for our health in so many ways. The easiest way to create this new habit is by attaching it to a current habit. Each time you put the kettle on, take a few mindful deep belly breaths. Perhaps each time you pick up your phone to check your socials, each time you wash your hands. Little healthy habits create great change, one mindful, attentive, breath at a time.

16.01.2022 Have you heard about how great yoga is for your mental and physical health but been too unsure to step into a yoga studio and try it? It took me YEARS to gain the confidence to walk into a yoga studio. I was actually terrfied I wouldn't be able to do it and would make a fool of myself. I was extremely unhealthy. I drank, I smoked, I burned the candle at both ends. It took me being in a crisis and being so desperate to feel better, to sleep again and escape my mental turmoil... that I finally just surrendered and went. I was utterly and completely desperate, and it changed my life. In a million unexpected ways. So much so that I now teach it and I am passionate about helping people see that it really is for everyone and it will make you feel calmer, relaxed, clearer from your very first class, and it's pleasurable! I teach yin yoga. It's floor based and suitable for absolutely eveyone, you don't need to be a size 0 and bendy. It's for every body. So I'm offering a free class online this Thursday at 11am here on my page so you can try it for yourself from the comfort of your own home. All you need is a towel to use on the floor as a yoga mat, some pillows or cushions from your bed or couch and a blanket. That's it. 13.01.2022 It is said that everything in the Universe is made up of a balance between these two opposing forces of yin and yang, which are always in a state of change. If yang is a positive force, yin is a negative force. If yang is fast, yin is slow. If yang is masculine, yin is feminine. These two opposing forces cannot exist without each other. The black dot at the centre of the white yin section shows that even in the yin theres a little bit of yang, as is the reverse. In the dark... section of yang, theres a tiny bit of yin. For optimal health they should be balanced, in your body and your life. So, take a moment and look at what aspects are yin and yang about you. A lot of modern imbalances come about because the world we live in is so yang: fast, aggressive, active. One of the main things you can do to support balancing this in your life is to nurture your yin and get more passive, nourishing energy into your life. Our lives will always create an imbalance, thats the nature of being human. Symptoms, while unpleasant, are not the problem, they are a symptom and your bodies way of alerting you to the fact your yin and yang are out of balance. The worse your symptoms, the more out if balance you are. You dont need to make massive changes, just little things even a minute at a time. Do some slow deep breathing whilst the kettle boils, use your shower time effectively with some dry brushing or guasha, add a few yin yoga classes to your week. Little changes each day will make a huge difference, you just have to start. So if youre looking for some support and connection on your journey to nurturing your yin side, we are here to help. We require both, and we need them to be evenly balanced for optimum health. We live at this time in a very yang world. With a strong focus on achieving, building, being always active, filling all the gaps of time with scrolling socials, multitasking, with multiple ...tabs open not just on our laptops but also in our minds. How does one know their yin is weak? Yin focusses on clearing blockages in your meridians, the energy lines of the body. When these blockages are cleared, the corresponding organ receives a greater flow of qi, of energy, and therefore strengthens. And guess what happens then? Those troublesome spots magically take care of themselves! Inner thighs n...ot as toned as youd like? Focus on your spleen channel. Backs of your arms wobbly? Focus on your heart meridian. And there are so many different styles of yoga you can try. 01.01.2022 Its time to put some spring in your step! Spring is the ideal time for cleansing and rejuvenation for overall health and well-being. The time of new beginnings! Spring is also represented by the wood element in TCM and includes the liver and its complementary organ, the gallbladder, these two organs are usually the primary targets for springtime cleansing. According to TCM, the liver is responsible for the smooth flowing of Qi (energy) throughout the body. When the liver fu...nctions smoothly, physical and emotional activity also runs smoothly. The emotion relating to the liver is anger. Excess anger and frustration gets stored in the liver meridian which weakens the liver qi. Clearing these channels through practices like yin yoga and qigong strengthen the organ and in turn, strengthen the physical and emotional body. Stretch - The liver controls the tendons. The liver stores blood during periods of rest and then releases it to the tendons in times of activity, maintaining tendon health and flexibility. Incorporate a morning stretch into your routine. Try yin yoga, qigong or any activity that helps you stretch and open your body. Eye Exercises - The liver opens into the eyes and is connected to proper eye function. Remember to take breaks when looking at a computer monitor for extended periods of time and do eye exercises. We offer 15 minute midday soundscapes each day on Instagram live with replays on IGTV. An opportunity to rest your eyes and reset. Eat Green - Green is the color of the liver and of springtime. Eating fresh, leafy greens and sprouts can improve the livers overall functions and aid in the movement of qi. Taste Sour - Foods and drinks with sour tastes stimulate the liver's qi. Put lemon slices in your drinking water or add pickles to your food. Do more outdoor activities. Outside air helps liver qi flow. If you have been feeling irritable, up your outdoor activity to smooth out that liver qi stagnation. Enjoy milk thistle tea. Milk thistle helps protect liver cells from incoming toxins and encourages the liver to cleanse itself of damaging substances, such as alcohol, medications, pesticides, environmental toxins, and even heavy metal.
