22.01.2022 Did you know we can help with your breathing? And THAT is important! A healthy diaphragm helps maximise your oxygen intake, with minimal effort. When its not working quite as it should, then your body begins relying on all its secondary breathing muscles (especially those around the neck). This can cause imbalances and muscle tightness, leading to pain in the neck, shoulders and upper back. So, if youre experiencing tightness in any of these areas, come and see us we will... assess your breathing patterns and help release the muscles associated with breathing. And exhale. #osteo #osteopathy #osteopath #diaphragm #breathing #theosteopathmaroochydore #maroochydore #sunshinecoast

21.01.2022 Scheuermanns Disease is a childhood condition that primarily affects the mid-back section of the spine. Abnormal growth in the front part of the vertebrae here leads to a wedge shaped appearance when seen on an x-ray. The wedging causes the spine to curve more severely (called a hyperkyphosis) in the mid-back and may lead to pain felt in this region. Good news! There are treatments available and we can help. Please call to make an appointment today. #osteo #osteopathy #scheuermannsdisease #hyperkyphosis

20.01.2022 Protein junky? When we eat protein, our body breaks it down into small pieces called amino acids. These are the building blocks of life! The body uses them to make protein for growth and repair, as well as many other functions. Our bodies produce some of these amino acids (known as non-essential amino acids), but not all of them. We must get these essential amino acids from the food we eat. Keep eating that protein people! #osteo #osteopathy #aminoacids #protein #food #theosteopathmaroochydore #sunshinecoast #maroochydore

The ribs are also an important part of our breathing. here are three main types of ribs: True ribs - these attach directly to the chest bone (aka sternum) False ribs - these attach indirectly to the chest bone via pieces of cartilage at the front of the rib cage Floating ribs - these literally float at the back of our bodies and have no extension to the front.
