21.01.2022 With the cost of communications and arts degrees set to double, we’ve got our outrage on. Critical thinking and the ability to communicate with humans in mind is critical to a democracy - and economy - that functions with truth at its centre. We will be working with the Australian Communications Advocacy Group initiative to make sure that higher education fees don’t prevent the next generation from learning the fine art of creating meaningful messages. ... The Federal Education Minister Dan Tehan has said the cost of Australian university degrees that don’t provide job-relevant training could cost up to $43,500 for a three-year degree in communications or a related field. Is he mad? Humanities students are likely to face a 113% increase in pursuit of their chosen careers, with future communications students having to find $14,500 to fund each year of university, up from $6,804 today. We hope you’ll join us in support as our industry works to collectively demonstrate the value we bring to news and communications.

21.01.2022 Are you one of those sing-a-long singers who can't help but warble along when you hear the tunes you love - or does impromptu crooning make you cringe? Like people who fold the pages of books (or not) or diligently file emails (or not), we reckon you are either a cringer or a sing-a-longer - which camp do you fall into? During these isolating times, we made a shared playlist on Spotify to create connection and give the sing-a-longers something new to sing... the only proble...m is there's a whole heap of new lyrics to commit to memory! Feel free to follow and add your own tunes if you have Spotify https://spoti.fi/2zUNFJs HINT: Singing along to Violent Femmes Blister in the Sun requires very little voice training

20.01.2022 Did you get enough sleep last night? This video from Science News Magazine shows how blood and cerebrospinal fluid washes through our brain as we sleep. Researchers think these fluids work during deep sleep to clear the brain of toxic waste. Sleep is not something to cheat yourself on - when we sleep our brain triggers the release of hormones that regulate energy, mood and mental performance. The right amount of shut-eye is related to performance and productivity. Healthy s...leep runs in four cycles - as we progress through stages one and two, we are reaching the deep sleep stage where both brain and body activity drop to their lowest point during the cycle. The fourth and final stage is called REM, which stands for Rapid Eye Movement, when our brains become even more active than when we are awake. This is the phase where we dream and is believed to be the most restorative sleep cycle. 19.01.2022 We've written before about the pressured environment of the marketing and communications industry. Here at The Possibility Partnership, we strive for an energised workplace where people bring their whole self to work and can tackle awkward and tough conversations with kindness and honesty while also taking the time to nurture their physical - and mental - health. Our friend Andres Lopez-Varela is doing some important work to measure the mental health and wellbeing of the mar...keting and communications industry and we'd love it if you could take the time to complete his anonymous survey. It will take at least five minutes, so settle in to give your best answers. Hopefully all of us will benefit from this data to make sure the industry supports its best people to stay energised and focussed on creating impactful work. 16.01.2022 Given that COVID-19 is the story of 2020, our sister agency Appetite Communications has uncovered what people REALLY need to understand about immunity and how you can eat, drink and be merry while supporting your immune health during a global health pandemic. HINT: avoid the products that promise to "boost your immune system" and look for ones that promise to support immunity, regulate inflammation and contain one of the seven functional ingredients that support immune healt...h. DRUM ROLL PLEASE: Sleep, gut health and weight control are important for immune function. The following bio-functional ingredients are also hard workers: 1. Lactoferrin - which is in milk, but also - somewhat grossly - in saliva, tears and snot! 2. Beta-glucan - a soluble fibre found in oats, wheat and barley 3. Lactobacillus - found in some yoghurts, keffir, sauerkraut and miso 4. Bifidobacterium lactis - found in fermented foods 5. Elderberry fruit extract - a powdered or liquid extract from dried berries of the Sambucus tree 6. Olive leaf extract - Extra Virgin Olive Oil is food for you, but so is the goodies extracted from the leaf of the tree 7. Epigallocatechin gallate - found in green tea and some black tas, but also fruits like blackberries and nuts like pistachios. If you're intrigued to find out more, the report is well worth a read >> https://bit.ly/3es24Ma #immunehealth #immunity #nutritioncommunications

13.01.2022 We don't have to wait for politicians, world leaders or even the mainstream media to lead the way with climate change. We can all do our bit, especially if you Declare For The Climate, like we have. We can all be the change we want to see with these six easy steps: 1. Declaring for the climate - check this site https://commsdeclare.org/ and get started... 2. Asking your staff and teams to declare 3. Promoting your declaration to inspire others 4. Asking your agencies and media buyers whether they do any business with fossil fuel companies or lobbyists. If they do, ask them to consider changing 5. Don’t accept donations or sponsorship from fossil fuel companies or lobbyists 6. Don’t advertise with NewsCorp newspapers, or let them know you will pull your advertising unless they stop giving a platform to climate denial See more

08.01.2022 'Something old done anew' will be a big theme as we emerge from Covid lockdowns into a world where businesses need to connect deeply with their customers to reassure and engage with them. This video from the Hong Kong Ballet seems to have just the right note of pastel and fluoro innovation to balance the tried and true ballet moves in a modern city facing all the challenges of the new Global political order.

08.01.2022 How do you cheer yourself on now that many of us are working remotely? OK, we admit that American-style cheerleading has a whiff of cheesy smiles and fake ra-ra to it, but if you watch the Netflix series Cheer, you’ll meet an abundance of wildly interesting characters who go to college to be the best cheerleaders in the country. Gerry is the star of the docu-series, constantly showing up to training, even when he’s sidelined and ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS cheering people on in... a unique - and authentic - way. On Cheer, these little pep talks are called mat talk, and Netflix had Gerry come to their office to give everyone a little mat talk when they walked in the office. Of course this was filmed before social distancing banished the high-fives and handshakes from our everyday interactions, but there’s something that makes us look at this clip all misty-eyed and long for an OTT, outrageous pep talk in the morning to feel connected to other people. How about you? Are pep talks too fake or something you long for? #motivationmonday

03.01.2022 The workplace from the past has always been morphing into a brand new future, changing the way we need to lead people and manage teams. Gallup is one of our favourite sources of workplace engagement insights - their global research consistently finds that around 85% of employees are not engaged with their work, leaving behind all the cultural (umm, and financial) benefits of a happy, engaged workforce. More interestingly Humanyzer - who analyze workplace collaboration data li...ke emails and sensor data from how people walk around an office - is saying that remote work has the potential to harm the cultural fabric of a business, particularly if it’s more than two days a week. They are recommending that business leaders keep in mind the health of the organisation as a whole and find the right approach that will work for your employees and the company. Here at The Possibility Partnership, we think we’ve found solid ways to collaborate effectively without being face to face, especially given we are a small senior team and our work relies on ideas and experience, rather than face-to-face collaboration. Tell us what you think, and read more here >> https://www.humanyze.com/dont-let-covid-19-compromise-your/ See more
