21.01.2022 New research shows bacteria found in the mouth not only helps bowel cancer to grow - it also helps it to spread. The findings are significant because 90% of ca...ncer-related deaths result from non-primary tumours or sites that have metastasised to somewhere else in the body. 19.01.2022 ~ MEET OUR COMMITTEE ~ @amy.graham114 is one of two co-founders * Our amazing committee consists of 6 incredible people dedicated to increasing the power of Time is Precious and therefor the change in bowel cancer awareness ... When Sara and I established the idea of a fundraiser in Robs memory, we knew it would be unforgettable. We wanted to create an event that sparked a conversation around Bowel Cancer and bring attention to the second deadliest cancer killer. Little did we know that our passion for community fundraising and; the support we desired for Bowel Cancer Australia would lead us to the development of Time is Precious. We aim to provide ongoing initiatives raising funds and awareness to contribute to the mitigation of cancer driven fatality. I am currently at university studying a double degree of PR & Social Media/ Marketing and have a long-term goal of working in Public Relations for an NGO. Alongside my bachelor’s degree, my strong passion for events, people and community relationships has provided me a drive to pursue the goals of Time is Precious and other past charitable experiences. My passion for the non-profit sector has driven my commitment to raising thousands of dollars, and I am so grateful I can utilise skills of organisation and attention-to-detail to benefit the greater Bowel Cancer community. With high personal skills from a young age I have been involved in many initiatives contributing to my knowledge and experience. Not only did I value all leadership roles throughout my schooling years, but I was selected to collaborate with organisational professionals to MC a corporate charity function run by WICL and Fairbreak. I currently sit on the board for Kunapipi Ski Club and manage all media, communications and member correspondence.

17.01.2022 R U OKAY ? @ruokday - Today is R U Okay day. Ask the people around you how they are going. This year focuses on continuing the conversation after you ask them. COVID-19 has created a greater need for checking in on each other than ever before. Anyone with a smile can be struggling underneath, and often the ‘happiest’ people are those who need the most help. Whether your battling with Cancer yourself or someone around you is - it is an incredibly challenging journey and it can create serious mental health repercussions.

17.01.2022 ~ MEET THE COMMITTEE ~ Vanya is our creative designer Our amazing committee consists of 6 incredible people dedicated to increasing the power of Time is Precious and therefor the change in bowel cancer awareness. ... For the best part of my working career, I organised events and product launches. I enjoy these types of functions and feel proud to help support a cause so close to my heart. Cancer has affected the people I love, including my mum, who I lost to bowel cancer and breast cancer. I feel honoured to help Sara and Amy raise money for a cancer that I have seen take the lives of so many we love. Having met Sara’s mum, Katrina at school I have known Sara all her life. I have been fortunate enough to watch Sara grow up to become a beautiful and driven soul, who I couldn’t be more proud of. Watching Sara and Amy create the Time is Precious organisation has inspired me to want to become involved to help raise funds to cure this horrible disease. When Katrina introduced me to Rob for the first time, I saw how happy he made her, and what an inspiration he was to her and the family. Rob was such an integral part of their lives and had a zest for life, despite what his body was enduring. He lived his life to the fullest and with great courage.

16.01.2022 7 Bridges Walk! Unfortunately due to COVID our plans on undertaking the beautiful 28km 7 bridges walk around sydney with a team can no longer go ahead. Instead we have decided to do the 28km over the week and this weekend to show our commitment to Cancer Council Australia. Today was Rain, hail or shine with a quick 2km stroll around the city on a lunch break. There’s always time for a quick walk whether it be 5, 10 or 40 minutes! It’s always important to stay fit and heal...thy and most importantly get yourselves outdoors. Looking forward to the next week to undertake our support for Cancer Council! P.s Don’t forget we have some amazing merchandise available and ready for your exercise endeavours!

14.01.2022 The 5 stages of bowel cancer

13.01.2022 ~ MEET OUR COMMITTEE ~ @katea.ckt is our strategic business planner * Our amazing committee consists of 6 incredible people dedicated to increasing the power of Time is Precious and therefor the change in bowel cancer awareness. ... 15 years in Real-estate , a background in software and hospitality, training and public speaking and my greatest achievement; raising two amazing young adults. I have had a few friends touched by cancer in the past few years and unfortunately lost a couple to cancers that do not get the funds to raise awareness, treatments or cures. Watching dearly loved friends go through cancer has always left me feeling there has to be something I can do even when I know there is nothing I could do except make meals and lend a shoulder to cry on or just be there to listen. Attending the Time is Precious Ball this year was not only the most enjoyable fundraiser I have been to but also a way to honour Rob and raise awareness for yet another cancer that has taken a dear friend away. I am humbled and honoured to have been asked to join Amy & Sara on the Time Is Precious Committee. Katrina and Rob were always happy to help me over the years and I look forward to helping Amy & Sara honour Robs legacy and also raise funds for awareness and treatment of Bowel Cancer.

11.01.2022 I have been so moved to hear that one of our guests at the inaugural ball earlier this year was encouraged to undertake a colonoscopy that he has put off for so long. Not long after this, he was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Fortunately, he was found to be in the early stages and medical professionals seem very hopeful. He was extremely grateful for the awareness that Time is Precious had given him. The promotional initiatives that we strive for are all to promote the increasing need for regular checks and to monitor any signs and symptoms. 07.01.2022 ~ MEET OUR COMMITTEE ~ @sarajoness is one of two co-founders. *Our amazing committee consists of 6 incredible people dedicated to increasing the power of Time is Precious and therefore the change in Bowel Cancer awareness. ... Hi! I’m Sara. I am a University student studying a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Business Administration. A dedicated and determined young lady, I endeavour to make a change. By utilising the skills and knowledge I have learnt through my studies, I have been committed to organising our fundraising events and pursuing our goal of finding a cure for bowel cancer. Unfortunately, my experience with bowel cancer was very close to home. My step dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer and left this earth far too soon. He was a strong role model and an absolute legend. Watching someone you love deteriorate over time has to be one of life’s hardest challenges. However, Rob was our inspiration to start raising money and the loss of such a beautiful soul was the beginning of our journey to really help others. Even the most brave and strongest people can lose their battle to bowel cancer and it is so important to raise awareness about a preventable disease if caught early.

06.01.2022 ~ MEET THE COMMITTEE ~ Rebecca is Manager of Accounts and Finances Our amazing committee consists of 6 incredible people dedicated to increasing the power of Time is Precious and therefor the change in bowel cancer awareness. ... I studied Accounting and Management at Wollongong University, and have worked in Accounting, Business Operations and Financial Planning and Analysis. I love what I do, and being able to use it to help Sara and Amy raise funds for such a great cause is something I feel incredibly honoured to do. I was lucky enough to meet Rob a number of years ago at a neighbourhood Christmas party. He was loud and opinionated, and impossible not to love. Over the years we built up a wonderful friendship, unfortunately a large part of it lived in the shadow of his cancer. The way that he handled his diagnosis and subsequent fight was inspirational to all who knew him. No doubt he would have been so proud of Sara and Amy and what they’ve already achieved, and what they continue to work towards in his memory I’m so excited for the Time is Precious Ball 2021!

06.01.2022 ~ MEET THE COMMITTEE ~ @katrina_jones9 is the donation coordinator Our amazing committee consists of 6 incredible people dedicated to increasing the power of Time is Precious and therefor the change in bowel cancer awareness. ... My name is Katrina Jones and I hope to bring my background in management as well as my people skills and connections to this committee and organisation. I have a very special daughter who lost her step-dad, my husband Robin Bosch. Sara and Rob had a very strong connection and she meant the world to him. When he was diagnosed it was a huge shock to all of us as he was so young. However, he never gave up and his fighting spirit was incredible. He was an inspiration to so many people and he will always be remembered for his fun loving character and his wit. His motto was ‘Time is Precious’ and in his honour Sara and Amy organised a charity ball last year with this title. It was a huge success and now has turned into an annual event and more. I am so honoured to have been asked to join this committee as it is so close to home and I know Rob would be so proud. We are striving for ‘bigger and better’ every year and I can’t wait to watch how our organisation will grow over the years and raise awareness for bowel cancer.
