25.01.2022 Here we are in 1923 at the Easter Contest In Brisbane. The Toowoomba Municipal band performed Meyerbeer’s Les Huguenots under the baton of James Compton. Photograph courtesy of the State Library of Queensland.

25.01.2022 Come and see us tonight at the Toowoomba Christmas Wonderland of Lights at Queen's Park. Our last carolling gig of the decade. Bring your singing voice and Christmas cheer! We start at 7.30pm. See you there!!!

24.01.2022 William Smith OAM was our Conductor for a whopping 23 years! He was a familiar face in the music scene of Toowoomba and was also heavily involved in the Toowoomba Philharmonic Society. William learned the cornet at 12 years old, then started conducting in 1918 (only 2 years later). He retired from Conducting in Toowoomba in 1976, after 58 years leading Brass Bands around Australia! He was succeeded by his son in law, Keith Bowtell.

24.01.2022 Here we are in Bundaberg in 1963, under the baton of William Smith OAM. If you are enjoying the Historical Photographs, why not head over to our website and read a little more about our long and illustrious history. https://www.toowoombamunicipalband.org/centenary-1922-2022

24.01.2022 With ANZAC Day Services being cancelled this year due to the Pandemic many are wondering how we can show our recognition for our servicemen and women who sacrificed so much for our nation. Join us in your driveways around the country for a minutes silence at 6am this ANZAC Day. https://rslqld.org//News/Latest-News/Show-your-ANZAC-spirit

23.01.2022 We're back again tonight at the Wonderland of Lights until 8:15pm. Come on down for 45 minutes of fabulous Christmas Music.

23.01.2022 Albert Wade became our Bandmaster in 1925. He was an Englishman who trained bands and made them into Champions. He had already had success in England, Wales, Scotland, New Zealand and the Southern States of Australia before he came to Queensland. Albert went on to become the most sort after Adjudicator of his time in the Southern Hemisphere. If you're interested in learning more about our previous Bandmasters, check out our honour board. https://www.toowoombamunicipalband.org/honour-board

20.01.2022 Here we are in 1947! Under the Baton of Norman Henstridge, we won the aggregate for all events at the Easter Contest in Maryborough that year. Norman won Champion Soprano Cornet Solo. If you're interested in finding out a bit more about our band's history, why not head over to our website; https://www.toowoombamunicipalband.org/centenary-1922-2022

19.01.2022 Alan is our Solo Cornetist in our B Grade Band. Alan was also our Band President for an incredible 21 years! Most recently, you may have seen Alan performing for Remembrance Day at @CliffordGardensShoppingCentre I started attending a learners class, run by former Musical Director, Keith Bowtell, in 1970. Prior to that, my older brother, Don, brought an old bugle home from the Harristown State High School cadet band. After making some ordinary sounds on Don’s bugle, we realised that it would be good to learn some finer points about brass playing and Keith’s learner classes provided us with a great foundation for our ongoing musical development. I then started playing in the junior band before graduating to the senior A Grade band in 1973.

19.01.2022 It's true! We can't wait for an occasion to whip out our Hawaiian shirts! We can't wait for #tcof2021!

18.01.2022 ANZAC Day is this Saturday. Join us in your homes and Driveways at 6am, as we stand together to remember.

18.01.2022 Christopher is our Bass Trombonist in our B Grade Band. He also plays Tuba with our D Grade Band and conducted the for several years. My favourite band memory would be the National Band Championships in 2014. We had a couple of players pull out close to the contest, one of the replacement players was pretty cute and I ended up marrying her.

17.01.2022 James Compton was more than just our bandmaster! He was Champion of Champions at National and Commonwealth Band Contests and was renowned worldwide for this Cornet playing. A World War One Veteran, he listed "Professional Musician" on his enlistment papers. James gained considerable experience in bands throughout Britain during the War, and played for the royal family on more than one occasion. Upon returning to Toowoomba, he took up the baton of the Toowoomba Municipal Band after his father, Albert Compton.

14.01.2022 Members of the Toowoomba Municipal Band are participating in Music for Mateship this ANZAC Day. If you are a musician wanting to find out more follow the link below. https://musicformateship.org/

14.01.2022 Dean is our Treasurer and Cornet Player in our B Grade Band. I joined the band about 10 years go. Back then, my son Drew (who is also in the band) was rehearsing each week and I was waiting around for an hour and half to drive him home (we live out of town so too far to go home and back). After encouragement from other band members, I decided to teach myself how to play cornet (I could already read music) and joined the band. It was the best thing I ever did (apart from marry my wife of course!).

14.01.2022 For those of you not following the Music for Mateship Page, here is our very own Harriet practicing for ANZAC Day on Saturday.

12.01.2022 It’s October already! This month, in honour of Girls Night In, we are going to focus on all the awesome ladies who make our Band what it is today.

12.01.2022 More from the Christmas Wonderland of Lights.

09.01.2022 We're getting excited! It's nearly our big birthday!!! Jump over to the website and check out some historical (and not so historical) photos of the band! You might just see a few familiar faces! https://www.toowoombamunicipalband.org/centenary-1922-2022

09.01.2022 Our Band Photograph from 1937 has us listed as the 25th Battalion Toowoomba Municipal Band. 1937, was a sad year for the band as our Bandmaster, Mr Owen Craddock Jones (not pictured), passed away unexpectedly.

09.01.2022 Women have played as part of Toowoomba Municipal since the 1970’s! The first Photograph we have of the then new inclusive band is from the The Chronicle in 1975. Check out that fish eye lens photography!

08.01.2022 Our new Website is live! If you haven't already, jump over and check it out! https://www.toowoombamunicipalband.org/

04.01.2022 Congratulations Harriet! Winner of the most improved player for our C Grade Band. She'll be better than all of us one day and her passion for the tuba makes us all smile. Feel free to bring along some friends next year Harriet.

03.01.2022 We are at the Christmas Wonderland of Lights tonight. Here is Christmas Fantasy.

03.01.2022 We're itching to get out and about again! We're sure you are too! We're planning something special for March 2021. Hop over to our website and check out the super early sneak peak of what's in store! https://www.toowoombamunicipalband.org/contests

03.01.2022 A big shout out and thank you to Alan Skerman. Alan has been the President of the Toowoomba Municipal Brass Band for 21 years and has passed the batton on this year to Caroline Ryan. Don't worry though, he isn't going anywhere just yet. Thank you Alan for everything you have done and continue to do for the band. We would not be where we are without you.

02.01.2022 John Jack Emmerson was out first Bandmaster. As a lad from a coal mining family in Durham, he could never have been anything but a brass player. His sons followed in his footsteps and also took up brass. His Legacy lives on, as we still have relatives of Jack in our Band today.

02.01.2022 Another Christmas Cracker at the Christmas Wonderland of Lights.
