01.01.2022 Did you know that in Australia, 1 in 4 young people live with a mental illness. Not only that, but a whopping 75% of mental health problems emerge before the age of 25 and high suicide rates in early to mid-adulthood are related to untreated mental health problems in the late teenage and early adult years. When my sister was unwell, I was inspired to help change this and put together the Train for Thought event to help promote the benefits of exercising outside with friends f...or mental health. Through my own personal experiences, I know only too well how powerful exercise is for mental health and want to create a world where we focus on being well instead of managing crises. After 3 years of presenting this amazing event with the help of only volunteers and the goodwill of some amazing sponsors, this year we needed to re-evaluate our approach and I am excited to say that in 2017 Train for Thought will be back, still supporting headspace and bigger and better than ever! I am also absolutely delighted to be passing the role of Event Director onto the awesome Ray Pastoors. Ray has been with the team since 2014 and has contributed so much of his time, energy and other resources into this event. Ray is such a passionate advocate for improving the state of Mental Health in this country so I know that he will do brilliantly with our event and take Train for Thought further than any of us could have ever imagined. Congratulations Ray on your new role as Event Director for Train for Thought - I wish you every success with the event. Are YOU passionate about improving mental health? Are you community minded or experienced in running events? Are you interested in joining our team to help make 2017 better than ever? Please email Ray from LYF solutions on [email protected] with details of your best contact details, your skill set and why you would like to be part of TFT17 committee.
