23.01.2022 Mustering single preg tested Commercial Merino ewes and lambs for marking today. Great early growth and maturity on display. 94.5 % result for single ewes with over 30% maidens a satisfying result. Great family effort with Mandi and I joined by oldest son Jamo and youngest daughter Ruby ( both home on Uni/ school holidays) getting the job done. What a great job!!

18.01.2022 A big thanks to all clients along with H Francis and Co and Elders for all coming together to make our 39th annual sale a huge success. We had a total clearance of 135 poll merino rams averaging $2470 and 85 White Suffolks averaging $1195. Rams sold to WA, Vic, SA and NSW which highlights the distance clients now travel to secure Trigger Vales unique balanced all purpose genetics. Rams are now available privately by appointment. 16.01.2022 Most days are pretty great and satisfying when you work in Australian Agriculture but some go to another level. Classing long term Trigger Vale Poll clients John and Josh Schirmers ewe joggers today. Cracking sunny winters day, unbelievable facility with new under cover Proway yards and new woolshed behind me. Working sheep in a set up like this isnt hard work. The sheep were a absolute credit to the Schirmers and represent beautifully what can be achieved with a dedicated breeding objective. That being a modern easy care Merino with multiple income streams and a low cost of production base. Despite the 2018 drought resulting in the toughest year in Johns 50 year farming career the sheep through record wool, lamb and surplus sales have given the Schirmers confidence to invest in their infrastructure and future - Happy Days!!

04.01.2022 The importance of including fat and muscle in a Merino breeding objective is highlighted in a dry summer/ autumn like this year. Pre lamb vaccinations and Condition Scoring mixed aged single bearing commercial ewes today who are 1 week off shears. Having been only on a maintenance ration for the past 8 weeks and still averaging 3.7 CS makes management for the next month prior to lambing reasonably easy. Having their own haystack on their backs means I only have to continue a maintenance ration which will harvest around half a CS over the next month. Overall result is target CS of around 3 for single bearing ewes achieved and serious $$$ saved but not having to gear up to a production supplement feeding program late in pregnancy.Trigger Vale Poll Merinos are industry leaders in these traits.

They run 150000 ewes over several properties in one of the harshest sheep environments in the world. Trigger Vale has been sending poll merino semen to the Falkland Islands for 10 years with our balanced genetics with extra weighting on growth, fat and muscle having a huge impact. The key is improving these traits results in improved Condition Score which is virtal in all sheep flocks but particularly somewhere as tough as the Falkland Islands.
