07.01.2022 And just like that. Trolley turns 6 years old. Thankyou thankyou thankyou for letting us be part of your mornings for 6 years. Here's to another!

06.01.2022 It's that time of the year again when the powers that be decide to close Greenpatch to the camping visitors to our town. Yes, we can not believe it as well. Do the persons that make this decision get hounded every time the sign goes up?Yes they do. Lets see. In the past excuses have been there are no domestic tourist during the wet season (really) , the Weather Bureau had predicted heavy rain towards the end of the week (which did not eventuate), somebody has to go down and ...close the gate (yes that was an excuse),campers will be trapped by the floodwaters (of the 2 million PLUS dollars spent on setting the area up included was a state of the art warning system with all the bells and whistles remote monitoring etc.) More so this year of all years it should remain open over our wet season or DISASTER Season as the LDMG Local Disaster Management Committee Cairns call it. COVID has been extremely tough on all local businesses and the bulk of conversations I have had with Greenpatch campers revolves around how tough the small towns have been going and how the traveler spend money at all these small towns. They love the idea of free camping spaces and in return always spend up in the small places. We will see an increase of wet season domestic travelers this year guaranteed. Our council is big on attracting tourists to the region or is that just the Cairns CBD precinct. I see the tens of millions of dollars being spent in the CBD by our council but still they see fit to close Greenpatch for 6 months when the tourists are actually here on the ground spending their money and telling other campers about our great town. Enough is enough. Wednesday morning from 7am there will be a get together at Trolley Coffee GORDONVALE to organize a petition and other measures we can take to stop the stupid decisions to close the Greenpatch. If you would allow the petition at your place of business or employment and have a few spare minutes please drop in and show your support. If you or know anybody in the media that may be interested in this could you please pass this on or let them know. Thanks heaps. Cheers , Ian

01.01.2022 We need you ! Come on in to sign the petition to keep Greenpatch open to campers/tourists ALL year round. People Power. Drop in please . Cheers.
