25.01.2022 Lovely story - unresistable resilience!

25.01.2022 What do they say - move it or loose it? Great way to have fun - why not use those line dancing, zumba and square dancing moves that you have learnt.....

25.01.2022 MYSTERIOUS AND DRAMATIC was the theme for today’s Acrylic Workshop and it did not disappoint. While the background colour was a vibrant blue, the works took on an eerie feel with the black and white inclusions. All participants took home interesting atmospheric additions for their collections!

24.01.2022 Team 'Social' has worked their magic again and transformed the hall into celebration central for tomorrows get together. Amid the colours of the old and the new, we will socialise in true Aussie style. We would like to send a 'cooee' to Pat, an energetic member of the team who has had to step back due to ill health - we wish her all the best and look forward to her return!

24.01.2022 Today the Club held their first social get together under the new ‘social distancing’ requirements. It was a challenge for our enterprising Social Committee with the turn to colder weather but with some lateral thinking and carefully placed tables, the stage was set for a ‘Spring Picnic by the Lake’. Members were asked to bring their picnic lunch and the colourful check tablecloths, flower table names and room decorations filled the hall with a feeling of ‘spring’. While cold and windy outside, the sun still shone on the best view in town as we gave our brain a workout with a few rounds of Bingo! Big thank you to Magda and her team of worker bees!

24.01.2022 A little reassurance.....

23.01.2022 A beautiful tribute.......

22.01.2022 A chance to ask a question or two!

21.01.2022 David Smith, (Member for Bean) visited last week and left some of these informative and comprehensive booklets. They have proved popular and already we need to refresh our supplies!

20.01.2022 Keeping the musical theme going - this time one for your grandchildren and a tune that will be hard to forget!

17.01.2022 Light at the end of the tunnel!

16.01.2022 For our first Social Event for 2020, we will be celebrating Australia Day on Sunday 26 with a traditional sausage sizzle, complimented with salads and followed by pavlova, lamingtons and fruit. There will be a singalong of ‘Aussie’ songs and an informal trivia. And, if you feel so inclined, why not bring along your favourite Australian poem for an impromptu Poetry Slam! So, dust off your cork hats, don your thongs and come along! See Weekly Bulletin for further details....

16.01.2022 Sometimes you just have to grin and 'bear' it!

15.01.2022 A good excuse to take a drive for fish and chips and a little retail therapy! Don't forget the Club's Day Trip to the South Coast - Friday 15 May.....

13.01.2022 Providing heartfelt thanks......

13.01.2022 It was 'sanitize, sign in and stay your distance' today as the Club doors opened for the first time in just over four months. While working together to stop the spread of this relentless virus, we can still enjoy each other's company and comply with the restrictions that must be applied. Day one down, hopefully many more to follow. Stay safe and stay connected!

12.01.2022 Laughter is the best medicine!

12.01.2022 A snapshot of my neighbourhood - Bear with coffee at The Grind, another poem at Poet Tree, a lone Poppy on a post and a Lil Street Library has popped up at Mawson!

11.01.2022 Day 3 and there was some serious ‘mask’ action today. The addition of some local flora and fauna has added to the murals character and skilful spray painting is adding depth and definition to the design. The end is in sight!

11.01.2022 A little perspective....

11.01.2022 Fire, flood and now fear of infection; it has been a stressful start to the year. While socialisation is very important in times of uncertainty, we have decided to close the Club and suspend all activities until further notice. To help in preventing the spread of the virus by ‘social distancing’ makes sense especially as we are in the high risk category. Hopefully this will assist our members in staying infection free and that the closure will not last long!

11.01.2022 A melodic reminder of why we live here and love our Canberra 'bubble' - a musical gift from 'Rhythm Syndicate' - enjoy!

10.01.2022 Winter is coming!

10.01.2022 There is always a silver lining!

09.01.2022 A great idea to use this month to celebrate seniors - makes sense as 1st October is International Day of the Older Person and last Sunday in October is Grandparents Day - let the party begin as we 'Reimagine Ageing'!

09.01.2022 A great way to use Facebook!

08.01.2022 Just in case you do not have one as there seems no end in sight.

07.01.2022 More pops of colour this morning when our Zumba class used the patio area as an impromptu outdoor stage! Blending beautifully with the new mural, Susan and her lovely ladies finished their dancing term with fun and flair!

07.01.2022 The change in weather did not deter the Club's cycling group this morning who rode by to view the new murals. Rivaling the artwork with their bright colours, this group is a fine example of the Club's moto - 'Be Active, Feel Great'! They meet each Friday morning for a ride and a coffee catch up. Thanks to art teacher, Catherine, who took the great photo of this energetic group!

07.01.2022 We oldies never let a little ole pandemic get in the way of having a good time - Garry Owen, Uke 55 leader, has enabled the strumming to continue by moving his sessions to You Tube - as I type the strains of Midnight Special fill our house! Go Phil.....

06.01.2022 There are Lil Street Libraries and Street Pantries and now we have a Plant Swap!

05.01.2022 Happy Easter - a little Monday 'mirth', especially for those family historians!

04.01.2022 Hauntingly beautiful......

03.01.2022 The weather was glorious today for the start of the painting of the long anticipated two wall Murals. Dave and his band of eager helpers took no time at all in shaping what will become two visual focal points for the Centre. Funded through a ‘Creative Endeavour Grant’ from the ACT Government and overseen by their Graffiti Management Coordinator, Lisa Petheram, the murals are a collaboration between multidisciplinary artist David Cragg and some enthusiastic Club members! Watch this space!

03.01.2022 Day 2 and the sun continued to shine as the layers of colours grew. Gum trees, the Brindabellas, Tuggeranong Homestead, the iconic rock wall and Canberra’s Royal Bluebells were slowly revealed as the day progressed. Already both murals are making a colourful statement!

02.01.2022 Great to hear that some Club members helped label those 'under looked' items of interests - a Treasure Hunt with a difference!

02.01.2022 Some local creativity to pass the time in a street near where we live - under 'Poet Tree ACT - this William Carlos Williams poem catches your eye as you drive / walk past!

02.01.2022 Questions and answers which you might find helpful!

02.01.2022 Fire to flood to fear of infection - and the year has just begun!

02.01.2022 Spreading the joy of spring!

01.01.2022 Day 4 and Tuggeranong’s ‘Art Trail’ has an added attraction! The sleek modern Seniors Centre has a new look with the two murals, reflecting location, history and our feathered friends, popping with vibrant colour. A big thank you to David, Karla and a handful of our talented members who did the hard work and Lisa, Graffiti Management Coordinator who made it happen! Colour us happy!

01.01.2022 Club members ‘ate, saw and explored’ when we visited the Enlighten Illuminations on Tuesday; this year braving the Night Noodle Market beforehand! The weather was fine although a little cool, the light shows spectacular and the inflatable additions added a touch of ‘whimsy’! Unfortunately, the inclement weather prevented the planned second visit on Thursday evening. Big thank you to Vikings Erindale again for the use of their 24 seater bus and to our expert driver Ken. A great way to see the landmarks in a different light and to mix and mingle with fellow club members! Thanks also to Magda for the photos.
