25.01.2022 Sandbags are a very large part of flood prevention. They are used to protect property and key infrastructure during floods. When severe weather warnings are posted, especially when there will be a significant amount of rain predicted, members of VICSES Seymour prepare sandbags in advance so that they are ready to go at a moments notice. This gets us out to jobs as soon as possible and protects your property in a very timely manner. When we are warned there may be a lot ...of rain over a long period, we will prepare sandbags and notify our local community via our Facebook page and the local radio station (if there is time) that we will be opening a sandbag collection point where members of the community can come and safely pick up some sandbags to prepare their property ahead of the rain arriving. This has worked very well in the past and allows our members to concentrate on the time critical jobs ie; rescues and trees over roads while still helping to protect the wider community. If you have any questions about how to protect your property from flooding, feel free to send us a message.

13.01.2022 Members of VICSES Seymour are super excited to be allowed to train face to face again. We still have a number of restriction, however we can now put tools to vehicles and maintain our skills in a hands on way. Whilst online training was necessary and we managed to learn quite a bit through PowerPoints and other online methods, there just isn’t a substitute for getting hands on the tools. If you are thinking about becoming a member, hold tight!! We will be able to get back to recruiting soon and look forward to adding to our team!

Please share with anyone you know who might be considering driving this evening. If you require assistance please contact the Victoria State Emergency Service on 132 500. For life-threatening emergencies call Triple Zero (000).

(please follow the sign...age) If you have any queries, please call the unit on 03 57921 479 For storm damage or flooding, please call 132 500 or for life threatening emergencies call 000.

12.01.2022 Seymour locals may have noticed over the last few months that the yard out the front of our Unit has been looking a bit shabby. Due to Covid related restrictions, the usual guys we get to do our yard maintenance have not been able to attend, resulting in the lawn getting quite long!! Thankfully the amazing Shawn from Seymour mowing and maintenance took pity on us and took it upon himself to whip out his mower and get our yard back into tip top shape. ... Shawn did not charge us for his time and effort (and I am sure it took quite some time!!) nor did he expect anything from us, he just did it out of the goodness of his heart!. He did an amazing job, the yard looks great and we are so, so thankful for his selfless act. If you live in Seymour and are looking to have your lawns mowed, please think about contacting Shawn. What a great bloke!! https://www.facebook.com/seymourlawns/
