21.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who participated in our show this weekend. Here are the preliminary results. We are waiting on some further information from an entrant and we expect to publish final results early next week. Congratulations to all the winners.

21.01.2022 What an epic day judging the 2018 VB IBC show - some stunners on display. Come and check out the show tomorrow and if your tanks are a little boring - Auction starts at 1:00! Come along from 10-12 to see the display before we take fish off display for the auction!

21.01.2022 We just had this email from Jack, if it’s something you could help with - get in touch with him directly: Hi Victorian Betta, My name is Jack and I am a PhD student in biology at Monash University. I am currently doing some research on invasive Betta splendens in the Northern Territory, and comparing these fish to ornamental varieties from the aquarium trade. However, for my next experiments, I need to breed and raise invasive betta fish so that they are raised under the sam...e conditions to domestic fish. I was wondering whether you have the details of any Betta breeders in Melbourne that would potentially be interested in breeding invasive bettas? We already have a small population of adult invasive Bettas in our lab to provide for breeding, and could also talk about the potential costs involved. Thank you in advance. Kind Regards, Jack Email [email protected]

19.01.2022 See you on the weekend!

16.01.2022 While we (Vic Betta) are on a little break from producing Betta events and shows... the gang at Brisbane Betta Breeders (BBB) are having a big one! We’re excited to get behind them with a few Macrostoma level sponsorships. If you can spare a square to support the hobby, hop on and share the love! https://www.facebook.com/groups/brisbanebettas/permalink/1515938165222890/

10.01.2022 How are your naughty fins keeping over the winter break?

07.01.2022 We were lucky enough to have a good 65+ auction fish sold today at the VB Show & Auction. 40 of those were amazing imported fish straight from Thailand. It's great to think they are all now sitting in hobbyist's, breeder's and keeper's tanks - getting people excited about Betta. Goodluck to all the little fishes that passed through the auction today - enjoy your new homes, play nice, spawn well and see you at the next one!

06.01.2022 Got plans next weekend? Come along to our huge live auction and show display on November 11, can't wait to see you all there.

05.01.2022 We're taking a pulse for our Melbourne followers: If we were to organise an IBC show & auction event in 2020, who is available to commit their time to pull it off? Traditionally shows are held around Mar-Apr or Sept-Oct. Could you commit to:... - An organisers meeting 2 months ahead of the event and allocation of tasks (weekend or after hours at Clifton Hill) - Fundraising in your own time (often Cadbury fundraiser chocolates at your workplace, open to new ideas!) - Availability for 1-2 week day evenings ahead of the event (benching in, stewarding, setting up stands, preparing hall) - Availability to steward for judging all day Saturday (an opportunity to learn from the judges, initiate your own judging certification and learn more about what makes a show fish - not to mention the sneak-peek at auction fish!) - Availability all day Sunday to assist running the show, awards, trading table, raffle, benching out and auction (5 volunteers required) We'd love to know what interest is out there!

04.01.2022 We are pleased to say that no changes were required to the previously published show results and they are now confirmed. Here they are again if you missed them before.
