15.01.2022 Did you know? Monitor position and visual response to the environment Visual, musculoskeletal disorders, and headaches have been associated with computer monitors. There is agreement regarding the need to provide a range of healthy postures for the neck when considering the monitor position. Too often, monitors are positioned too high or at an angle that intensifies reflective glare. Generally, the topic of a visual display unit should not be above the horizontal eye height o...f the operator. Learn about MORE advantages of monitor positioning (for one or more monitors), screening for glare and functional considerations of luminance versus illuminance during the ViOffice Workstation Practitioner Foundation Level 1 Certification program: Scheduled public seminars are listed via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/ OR email: [email protected] or call: 07 3040 7128. 15.01.2022 Our Director Dr Sara Pazell recently joined a panel of experts at the Melbourne Design Week to discuss Combating Burnout in the Design Industry. It was incredible fun working with Melissa Marsden, Kathryn Bonning, and Dr Adrian Medhurst to discuss the neuroscience underpinning rest, relaxation, rejuvenation, health, and wellbeing: preventing burn-out and designing life for health. We explored job and work design and organisational systems that can support these endeavours. Thank you, Stylecraft Melbourne, for hosting this event!

10.01.2022 Did you know? Keyboard trays: Advantages, key features, and risks Keyboard trays provide a split-desk work option[i] so that reaches to keyboards and peripheral input devices, such as a traditional mouse, can be accessible and comfortable. They can reduce the upper quadrant (shoulder, neck, and upper back) static positioning when using an input device (e.g. mouse or keyboard). The keyboard tray split-desk option can complement sit-stand desk features for optimum fit of a w...orkstation to a range of users. There are some advantages and disadvantages associated with their use; the disadvantages arise with poorly designed or selected devices for the task-equipment-person fit. Three advantages of keyboard trays: They provide an alternative for a fixed height desk, enabling adjustability of the keyboard to the correct height for the user (AS 4442:2018). Adjustability: they can allow the user to slide, angle, and pivot the typing surface to allow neutral postures and proper positioning[ii] Trays can be adapted for sitting and standing work positions[iii] Learn about MORE advantages of keyboard trays and other "workstation equipment fit" considerations during the ViOffice Workstation Practitioner Foundation Level 1 Certification program: [email protected]. October sessions are already scheduled: 25 October Perth https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/vioffice-workstation-practi 29 October Brisbane https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/vioffice-workstation-practi ________________________________________ [i] Cook & Burgess-Limerick (March 2003), Guidelines for Computer Workstations.
