25.01.2022 NIPPERS REMINDER We are still operating under COVID Guidelines our at Kurnell. Parents of Nippers aged U8-U11 are asked to drop their children at the Southern end of the zone, at the stairs. The age managers will be there to meet and collect children. Parents are asked to drop and run and to not congregate on the outskirts of the zone to ensure we are complying to social distancing. ... At the end of Nippers, the children will exit via the northern end near the ramp. It’s a beautiful day for a walk and a coffee so go and enjoy some time child-free.

25.01.2022 Wasnt it great to be back at the beach for training this morning? Perfect conditions. Fantastic to see the smiles on all the kids faces as they were back catching the waves. Followed up with our final proficiency day this afternoon. Huge day for the kids and all our volunteers. Special shout out to our army of water safety and IRB team. We cast our eyes forward now to the start of the season on 11th October.

Dont forget proficiency is on again today from 12pm - 3pm at Cronulla Beach Swim School and South Cronulla beach. ... u8 at South Cronulla Pool Complex, 12.00pm 3.00pm u9 u14 at South Cronulla Pool Complex & South Cronulla Beach 12:00pm 3:00pm Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there is a limit to the number of people allowed in the pool complex at one time. So please: Book your time (you will not be allowed entry unless you have booked) Arrive at the start of you allocated time slot Line up (adhering to social distancing guidelines) at the SIDE ENTRANCE Keep to one parent only You will be asked to sign in on entrance to ensure we have a record of everyone who attends. Also, a reminder to bring your swimmers, goggles, cap and a towel. For those nippers in the u9-u14 age groups, please bring a pink rash vest (compulsory) and wetsuit (optional) for the ocean swim assessment. See you at the beach (and pool!)

21.01.2022 VOLUNTEER OF THE WEEK This week we acknowledge 3 of our long term IRB drivers - Bucko, Lloydy and Tiny. These guys have all given many years of service to one of the toughest jobs in the club. These boys are usually first at the beach and often last to leave. These boys not only keep our kids safe on a week to week basis at nippers, they do everything from proficiency at the start of the year and all those carnivals our kids love to attend. Without them our kids would n...ot get to have the experiences they do. These Wanda boys are known around the branch to be the best in the business and officials are always happy to turn up and see the Wanda boys ready to set cans for them. As these boys near their end of their tenure with nippers we encourage you to get your crew and then drivers and learn from the best while they are still there with us each week at Nippers. Thanks boys, we know it can sometimes be tough on your old bodies but we appreciate all your time and effort. Please pop past the Voodoo Van when nippers is back and collect your gift. 21.01.2022 Champo day wasn’t to be but plenty of fun was had at Silver Beach and down at Wanda. So good to see the kids tested out in the water. Particularly for our U8s who had some precious time on the boards. Thanks to everyone to adhering to all COVID regulations, it means our Nippers can continue each week. ... Very important reminder regarding our COVID rules: * 1 parent only to be in attendance. Parents please do not mingle. If you are not assisting with water safety, please drop the children off and ensure you maintain 1.5m social distancing at all times * Nippers must bring their own board * Nippers must bring their own water bottle * Attendance will be recorded to enable tracing if needed * Turn up, train and leave * Hand sanitize before and after PARENTS AND NIPPERS - DO NOT COME TO TRAINING IF: i) you are showing signs of illness ii) you have been to Melbourne in the last 14 days or any other current venues that have been identified on the NSW Health site iii) you have been advised by NSW health to self isolate Any parent or nipper who is not abiding by the above points will be asked to leave. U11-13 arrive 9am U9/10 arrive 9.15am Parents (1 per family) will continue to have to sign in using QR code on arrival. We then ask that parents do not hang around to avoid congestion outside the club. Enjoy the morning and go for a walk. Or have a coffee. Take a dip. Whatever you fancy. 16.01.2022 MEET WANDA'S NEWEST LIFESAVERS Today our U14s completed their Surf Rescue Certificate and graduated to life savers. What an honour and reward receiving their uniforms - they all wore them with such pride. ... A big thank you to all our volunteers who have given up their time to prepare them for today especially their Age Managers Karen Bonar and Katie Spinner and all the assistant age managers who have been with them since the u6's We missed Cemeron B today and look forward to him joining them in a few weeks.

13.01.2022 PROFICIENCY All u8-u14 nippers are required to complete an annual proficiency swim and float test, which are measured according to their age. Please bring swimmers, goggles, cap and a towel. For those nippers in the u9-u14 age groups, please bring a pink rash vest (compulsory) and wetsuit (optional) for the ocean swim assessment. We hold proficiency tests on three days, one of which nippers are required to attend. Please note, u6 & u&7s are not required to complete profici...ency on these dates. This will be held at a later date for these age groups. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there is a limit to the number of people allowed in the pool complex at one time. This year, we ask that you book your time for proficiency via the links below. Our Wanda Nippers volunteers seriously have to be the best in Australia, the amount of time, love, passion, support and dedication that each and everyone of them continue to give to our kids, our sport, our club, our families and our community is much to be admired. Jock Athletic is back running our beach program this season and we are excited to announce our pre season sessions are starting this week.... Jock Athletic sessions (all u8-u13 welcome): Wed 5.30pm - sprints - Sylvania Athletics track Sat 6.45am - Sandhills - this week running the Sutherland to Surf distances - choose either 2km, 5km,11km Additionally, the club coaches will also be running sessions for those that cant make Jocks Wed/Sat sessions: Tues 4.30 - running/fitness at Sylvania Athletics Track Thurs 4.30pm - running/fitness at Wanda (meet on grass area outside cafe) All sessions start this week. The sessions for the next few weeks will be with Jock at the track on Wednesday afternoons and Sandhills on Saturday at 7am. You are still welcome to also join the seniors who run on Thursday afternoons at Wanda park. Sunday morning board training continues this Sunday.

03.01.2022 Everyone’s a champion on Champo Day! The weather and conditions were kind meaning we got Champo day off the ground this week. It was a huge effort from all the Nippers, particularly from those who experienced their first Champo day, or participated in an event for the first time. That’s what it’s all about. ... Thanks again for all the parents for helping out, staying distanced, respecting the regulations, setting up and helping out on the BBQ. Cherie is always ready to step up and volunteer her time for our Nippers or Seniors, even with no nippers anymore. Cherie still gave her time to come down and help out with officialing for champo day yesterday and even stayed on afterwards and signed on for patrol. One of our seasoned official volunteers that supports our nippers to compete each season, both at Wanda and a number of other carni...vals such as branch, state and pool rescue.
