16.01.2022 Hi Everyone, The heat policy will be in effect for the next few days. It is the policy of the Wangaratta Golf Club to ensure safe playing conditions for players in order to minimise the risk of injury, illness or possible death in circumstances of extremely hot weather. The Committee has set a heat policy with a duty of care for members and guest’s in mind. When the expected temperature for the day exceeds 38 degrees C (according to the bureau of meteorology) players will be ...advised prior to play that the extreme heat policy will be implemented. These messages will be put out that the club does not recommend playing in extreme heat however any player who wished to play may do so but must ensure that they are aware that conditions may be dangerous and that they must take adequate precautions against the extreme heat. Players are advised to use early tee times, carry enough water (as there are no taps on the coarse), sunscreen, wear a hat and should consider using a cart instead of walking or at least use an umbrella for shade. 11.01.2022 Well, the final touches have been put in place tonight with the new tee signs put up at dusk. Great job John and Paul. This has been a super effort. With a few people working to the wire to make it happen. A few weeks have gone by when Andrew Brereton one of our members come to me and said if you need some help designing the new tee signs l am more than happy to help. So with the help of John Southwell, we started to put things in motion. We would like to thank Andrew Brere...ton for all the work he put in getting a foundation for us to work with. Once this was put in place Grimshaw Signs took over and with a tight time frame, they got the job done. The signs have come up a treat. Thank you to all the Board members and a big thank you to the match committee and Greens staff for the work that was needed to make this happen. Last but not least, l would like to thank all our members and sponsors and green fee payers for supporting us through all the hard times and l am sure there will be good times ahead. Enjoy your golf! 10.01.2022 Well done Rod Moyle, winning the Stableford event today. We are getting very close to playing the full 18 holes. Really looking forward to the coming weekend. Just another thing to help out during the warmer months. Well, all the time really. Try to fill in any other diverts you see and repair pitch marks on the greens. It takes all of us to do that little bit extra so we can enjoy great conditions on our course. Well done everyone. Happy Golfing.

06.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Well, the time has arrived. We are opening the full 18 holes this Saturday the 28th of November. We will once again enjoy a full Eighteen hole course. There has been a lot of hard work put into making this happen by all concerned. When you arrive to play on Saturday there will be new scorecards and your Handicap would have changed There will be flyers at the golf club explaining the route of play until we have the new clubhouse up and running. ... We are racing to get the new tee signs done by this Saturday. Well done everyone for your work on this. Just a reminder for everyone, please keep the golf carts well away from the greens, repair any divots and pitch marks on the greens. We will be asking the same of the green fee players as well. Once again a big thanks to everyone involved in making this happen. I would love to mention all of you individually for your efforts but there is just too many. Enjoy your golf everyone and please be patient during this transition. Just thought I would put in a few snippets of how well the boys have done getting these new holes up and running. Your thoughts before Saturday. You will be asking yourself. How will I approach these new holes? Good luck everyone.

05.01.2022 Saturday men's Stableford event held on the new course layout for the first time. Conditions were a bit different but if you were smart and got out onto the course early you would have reaped the rewards. Thank you to Greg Sullivan our Captain for getting things up and running for the first hit out on the new layout. Things seemed to have run smoothly. It will get better as we go. It will take a little time to get used to the route of the course and how to play the new gre...ens as they are only young. In time it will be brilliant. If we are all patient it will come to fruition. Personally, I loved the new format. The holes were challenging enough and you had to think your way through the course. What about the new first hole, a few come unstuck (naming myself) a few made it look easy ( JAY-AR Martin chip in Eagle). Looking forward to the Monthly medal stroke next Saturday sponsored by the BISMIRE FAMILY. The new club shirts were out. Thank you, Dale Carmody, who is a natural in front of the camera. Ian Rundell, you never let us down with your colour coordination. All in all, it was a great day in trying conditions at times. See more
