17.01.2022 Last night Workshop Camera Club held its first virtual meeting using a software package called Zoom. Forty of our members attended a test session which was a re-run of a LR slideshow and commentary that had been previously presented as well as the usual club notices from our president. While there were a few issues that we will be able to solve at future meetings attendees seem to agree the evening was a success in the present circumstances. We plan to hold our monthly exhibition next week in the same way. I know some other clubs are using similar products.

06.01.2022 Whilst we are all in isolation here are some free ways to connect with others in the Photographic Industry. My name is Matt Palmer and I write to you from the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP). The Covid-19 pandemic has severely affected the photography profession and industry, camera clubs and special interest groups. With all the Government restrictions, as well as the need to protect our and your members, this is a challenging time for all of us to ma...intain connection and encourage our passion for photography. AIPP members have taken the initiative to host online Q&A sessions; these are some of Australia's top photographers. These events are available FREE to members and non-members. The sessions are recorded and will be made available to our members in the resource library. We currently have scheduled: Mieke Boynton - Landscape photographer, ex-Olympian, and Australia's first winner of the Epson International Pano Awards Alex Cearns OAM - Prolific animal photographer and community builder. Abraham Joffe ACS - Internationally awarded filmmaker and creator of 'Tales Of Light' Matt Palmer - Landscape and 2019 Australian Professional Photographer of the Year Tony Hewitt - One of the world's top landscape photographers The Light Collective - A collaboration of five of Australia's top landscape photographers We are continually adding to this lineup. To register your members need only visit https://www.aipp.com.au/events and select the sessions they wish to attend. Once again these Q&A events are FREE. The link details for each session are emailed to participants approximately 24 hours before the session. We also have a directory of Covid-19 resources at http://aippblog.com.au/2020/covid-19-resources/ which is accessible to anyone. This is being regularly updated as information comes to hand. The AIPP recently introduced a new and inclusive membership category, General Member. We have an introductory offer of $12 per month for the first year. There is a lot to gain and experience through membership including a video library, specimen contracts (for those conducting business or wanting to), business resources, access to the National AIPP Members Facebook Community and opportunities for professional development. More information on General Membership is available at https://www.aipp.com.au/join/new-member-category I hope these initiatives may be of interest to you and your community and that our free events can help connect our communities around a shared passion for photography. I have included a graphic for ease of sharing in your social media platforms should this help to convey our message. Please feel free to contact me directly at [email protected] should you have any questions. Please know that I have emailed you personally, and you are not on any automated mailing systems. Kind Regards, Matt Palmer. See more

If anyone reads this and is interested, sign up using the link below. While it will primarily be of interest to Nikon users, anyone may join the group discussion. To quote Michael, "These are designed to be personable and although we have a topic of focus it’s an opportunity for us all to talk around a range of topics t...hough the online catch up, I think it’s a great as a photographic community that we embrace these opportunities to talk all things photography especially as we go through this period of social distancing As an additional bonus I will be giving away Nikon Backpack to the first 5 who register and who join the online meet this Thursday at 1pm. Below is the Eventbrite link to register and I have also included the Skype link early ( just click on the link ) so people can set themselves up early.
