25.01.2022 We just wanted to let you know that we miss you and hope you're all doing ok!!

23.01.2022 Today we were meant to be celebrating our 5th birthday but sadly due to COVID-19 we are unable to do that. Our dress theme was going to be Easter, considering our birthday feel on the Easter weekend, so here is a virtual cake to celebrate 5 years of Warragul parkrun. Thanks for everyone's support and commitment to parkrun over these last 5 years. We will be back when we can be and parkrun will be even better!!! If you haven't been able to get out for your 5kms today, when you do why not dress up in what you would have for our birthday and send us a pic Your Core Team

20.01.2022 Good Morning Warragul parkrunners. It has just been announced that all parkruns across Australia have been cancelled until at least the end of March due to COVID-19. While we understand that this is frustrating we support the decision that has been made as everyone's health and safety is of the up most importance. We will keep you updated and thank you for your patience and understanding.

18.01.2022 Check out what arrived this week!!! If you ordered a key tag or wristband it will be at parkrun on Saturday

15.01.2022 TOMORROW IS THE DAY!!!! There is a 70% chance of rain however we are crossing everything that the showers will stay away, at least until after parkrun Just a couple of things........ Run Briefing will be close to 08:00 PRINTED barcodes are a must!!!!!!! (If those that are volunteering as timekeeper and barcode scanner could also make sure they bring their barcode that would be great as it's a new requirement with the Virtual volunteer app). Try and position yourself at the start line in a place appropriate to your finish time. Briefings will be much shorter with almost an imidiate start afterwards. There will be an increase in barcode scanners 1:50 ratio to ensure queues do not present a social distancing issue. We ask that you hold your barcode and finish token while the barcode scanner scans your items. There will also be a container where you put your finish token after it is scanned. There will be no key box for obvious reasons, so you will need to organise a place for your key/s during the event. Hand Sanitiser will be available. We are unable to recognise milestones at the briefing due to the new guidelines. However we are looking at ways to still be able to recognise them somehow. The QR code will be available at the event. Remember you are able to check in before or after the event via the code on our Facebook page, so you don't have to bring your phone with you if you don't want to. We will also have someone there to help if there are any questions or issues. Lastly, please remember to be patient with your RD and volunteers as this is new for us too We're all in this together and are SO looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

14.01.2022 An update from parkrun HQ. Thanks again to all the event teams and ambassadors who have generously given us their time over the last few weeks, and shared the challenges they are facing at local level around the world. We have now spoken directly to over 700 of those volunteers and continue to gain valuable insight. Based on those conversations there are three key points we would like to share in this week’s update.... Firstly, the decision to re-open any parkrun country will be made by parkrun Global (the UK-based charity) in collaboration with staff or senior volunteers in that country, and alongside relevant and local public health guidance. All public announcements of parkrun countries reopening (or not) will be made firstly through this weekly update. Anything you see outside of this channel is not necessarily the official position of parkrun, and we will not be commenting on speculation or rumours. Secondly, we continue to see governments release greater detail around how they plan to relax restrictions in their region. In some cases this is, understandably, leading to questions from the parkrun community with regards where parkrun may fit into those timelines. At this moment we do not see any country we operate in presenting guidelines that would reasonably accommodate parkrun events in the near future. Should that change this will be the first place we make any comment. Importantly, we will not consider opening parkrun countries anywhere where there is even a small chance of exceeding participant limits for public gatherings at a single event. Also, at this time, we are not considering starting events where doing so would mean participants or volunteers are required to maintain a certain distance between each other. Thirdly, in most countries we operate in it is likely to be several months before we consider it appropriate to reopen our events. By then, the world’s understanding of this virus will be very different, as will society’s feelings about it. As such we do not believe it sensible to comment on the many social distancing or hygiene-based suggestions currently being proposed as ways to either get parkrun up and running as soon as possible or to mitigate any risks when we do return. To reiterate a point from a previous update, in all instances we will be taking a cautious approach to re-opening our events. We will only be doing so where both that country’s specific public health guidelines comfortably allow, and where we can be confident that our volunteer teams will not be placed under undue pressure. Thanks for your continued patience, understanding, and support. We will get through this, together

07.01.2022 parkrun cancelled due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Notice of cancellation We’re writing to let you know that, in line with public health advice, we have taken the decision to close all parkrun events across Australia with immediate effect. Initially, this closure will be in place until the end of March, however this is largely to bring all parkrun countries into the same time frame and we very much expect closures to continue through April at least.... Going forward we will update parkrunners regularly and aim to communicate important information as soon as is appropriate. We know that this message may be a difficult one for you to receive, and many people will be wondering what to do without their regular weekly catch-up. Please rest assured that we are working hard to develop our strategy so that we are able to support the health and happiness of parkrunners around the world during this difficult time. Remaining active is incredibly important, and we are working on ways to encourage and support that, however please do not arrange group gatherings at your parkrun venues whilst parkrun events are suspended. Thanks for your continued support, and please know that the parkrun family is there for you. Kind regards, Tim Oberg Strategic Director, Asia Pacific

06.01.2022 Good Evening Warragul parkrunners We have some very exciting news and it's the news we've all been waiting for! Warragul parkrun will recommence from THIS Saturday!!!! As you are aware, for contact tracing purposes every Victorian parkrun is required to display a QR code each Saturday morning. These are unique to each parkrun location. This is being provisioned via the Victorian state government's QR code service.... As mentioned in our previous post, the Warragul parkrun QR code will be available at various locations around the event. It is also shown online below and on the News section of our parkrun webpage. You can register for contact tracing by: Scanning the QR code at the event with your smart phone camera and entering your details in the page that appears - OR - Scanning the QR code online and following the same process - OR - Downloading the Service Victoria app (from app store or visit: go.vic.gov.au/check-in) Open the app and enter for code for our location: AXX RW8 You can check in before leaving home, in your car, at or after the event. We encourage all volunteers and participants to check in each week. The Department knows that parkrun operates from 8-9am on Saturday so it is ok for you to check in before or after the event. You do not need to bring a phone to parkrun. Most importantly, if you are unwell, please stay at home, do not attend parkrun. Thank you to those that have filled our Volunteer roles for this weekend. We're so excited to be coming and look forward to seeing you on Saturday

01.01.2022 Good evening, Following the cool change and bit of rain this afternoon it looks like tomorrow will be a coolish but fine morning. Meet at the BBQ shelter at 7.50 for the pre run briefing and 8am start. Don't forget your barcode and drink bottle.... See you in the morning. From your Warragul parkrun team.
