24.01.2022 The 1s batted first with no significant collapses but also no big scores or partnerships. Garry Lolicato top scored with 24 while Mitch Lester scored 23 at the top of the order. 13 from Indushan Dinuka was the third top scored as the 1s were bowled out for 133 in the 39th over. Still a somewhat competitive score, Corio looked to cruise to victory at 1/51 before they fell to 5/62. They eventually got the target 7 wickets down with 3 wickets from Mani Dhulipudi (3/39) and 3 fro...m AB (3/20) doing the damage. Sitting at 1-7, a big match awaits next week again the 8th placed Manifold Heights in the final game of 2020. The 2s chose to bowl first and had Corio at 5/48 with three wickets to Raj Lankireddy (3/24) before M.Hassain for Corio smashed 113. He helped Corio to 192 all out with the other wickets taken by Dom Richards (3/25) and Gautham Sathikumar (3/50). The target was just to much to chase down but a club PB 77 from Lachie Bartlett certainly gave it a chance. 23 from Jono Ray was the only other double digits score with 5 run outs taking place. The 2s ultimately lost by 32 runs. The 3s played at Lakeside and had a comfortable 76 run win. They batted first making 185 from the 40 overs with Preet Patel (34) Harry Perry (32) Kev Fuller (28) and Abel Joy (24) leading the scores. With the ball, wickets were shared with William Potter (2/5) and Harry Perry (2/5) leading the way. Michael Leitch (1/13), Mukesh Kadali (1/20) and Saj Baskaran (1/26) were the other wicket takers. Just one game remains in 2020 before a two week break for the second half of the season which will continue to be one-dayers.

24.01.2022 ROUND 4 TEAMS The 1s return to Jarvis The 2s travel to take on Guild The 3s play their first home game at Lakeside!... Good luck to all the teams

23.01.2022 Good morning, In light of the escalation of Covid-19 and advice regarding social distancing, Waurn Ponds Deakin's end of season presentation will be postponed. We anticipate that we should be able to hold this event in mid to late May but will advise as the Covid-19 situation and advice from authorities evolves.

23.01.2022 ROUND 4 RESULTS The 1s return to Jarvis and bowled first. Wickets were again shared around. AB was the pick of the bowlers with 3/12 off 10. While Captain Garry Lolicato had fantastic figures of 2/9 off 7.3. Cameron Rochow (2/26), Mani Dhulipudi (1/18) and Troy Oakley (1/36) were the other wicket takers as Guild were bowled out for 120 as wickets fell regularly. The batting was let down by two collapses as the boys went from 2-48 to 5-60 and then 6/94 to all out for 106. Gar...ry Lolicato top scored with his first 50 for the season making 56 before being bowled. Unfortunately it was a lone hand as the 1s fell 14 runs short of the target. The 2s played at Guild and batted first. Sam Robinson impressed up the top with 32 but a bad collapse from the middle and top order put things in danger at 4/13. Preet Patel (41) helped rebuild the innings alongside Robinson before Gautham Sathikumar (51) made his second 50 for the season. Tyler McHarry made 27 down the order as well with the boys reaching 9/178. The job with the ball wasn’t as good with just 4 wickets taken as Guild got past the total with 7 overs remaining. Dom Richards got 2 (2/28) while a stumping from Daniel Breen and a run out from Lachie Bartlett were the other wickets. The 3s played their first game at lakeside and bowled first. Every bowler took a wicket with Mitch McPherson (3/24) getting a hattrick. The first for the club in 3 seasons. Michael Leitch was the other to take 3 (3/12) while the other wickets were taken by Tom Sudholz (2/18), Al Sudholz (1/18) and William Potter (1/51). In the batting department only 6 batsman were needed with Tom Sudholz (50 not out), Al Sudholz (21) and Mathew Wescombe (20 not out) the top scorers. The boys ended up winning by 6 wickets with the victory taking them to second on the ladder with a percent of 1.88. Check out a heap of photos from the 1s and 3s

23.01.2022 ROUND 13 PROGRESS RESULTS The 1s have dominated day 1 of their match against Guild piling on 310 from 84 overs their highest score in a number of seasons. Finding his place at the top of the order, PK Pudhota made 64 with Garry Lolicato making 20 on 1s debut batting at number 3. Captain Nic Wood then posted the club's first hundred of the season scoring 104 not out. Cameron McPherson made his highest 1s score reaching 42 while some big hitting from AB saw him get to 32. The 2...s did not play due to a wet pitch and will play a one-dayer next Saturday as their final match. The 3s bowled first and did a great job to restrict Geelong West to just 101 from 38 overs. Tom Cameron took 3 wickets (3/20) while Dom Richards, (2/24) Al Sudholz, (2/19) and William Potter, (2/18) all took 2 wickets. Things weren't as good in the batting department though as the boys were bundled out for 56. William Potter top scored with 18 and Mitch O'Neill made 9. The boys now have one more match next week against Lara. Check out a gallery of photos from both games

22.01.2022 ROUND 9 RESULTS The last games of 2020 brought some big results with 2/3 wins for the club. Both the 2s and 3s currently sitting inside the top 4 at the break. The 1s played at Manifold Heights and bowled first. It was a tough time in the field with the hosts putting on 7/254 from 50 overs. Wickets were shared by Garry Lolicato (2/54), AB (2/55) and Mathew Wescombe (1/26). A big chase was needed with the bat but with wickets falling regularly the task looked like a tough one ...however, 25 from Lolicato, 45 from Harrison Haynes, and 31 from AB was encouraging but the total was just too much as the boys were bowled out in 45 over for 160. The 2s were at Jarvis and batted first. Early wickets had the team in trouble at 7/54. But once again, the tail and lower order dug in headlined by 46* from Roy Oakley and 21 from Raj Lankireddy. A final total of 142 from 47 overs was a massive turn around and one that gave something to bowl to. With the ball, Manifold was cruising at 1/55 before slumping to 4/86 and then 8/134. With just two wickets needed but only 3 runs, the final stages of the match were coming down to the wire before wickets from Jono Ray and Jono Thomson got the boys the nail-biting win with a catch from Raj Lankireddy sealing the victory against the 2nd placed Manifold Heights. The wickets earlier were taken by Cameron Rochow (4/39), Raj Lankireddy (2/26) Gautham Sathikumar (1/15), and Troy Oakley (1/56). The 2s now enter the top 4 at the break with 9 matches to go. The 3s were at Lakeside again and bowled first. Two early wickets to Michael Leitch (3/27) had East Belmont at 2/7 before a couple of partnerships grew. An excellent spell from Chris Gray (4/10) helped reel back the score with William Potter (2/9) helping to clean up the tail as the opposition were bowled out for 136. Into the batting innings and two knocks helped set up the win with Preet Patel 53* at the top of the order and Chris Gray 38* in the middle order both gave something to bat around for the rest of the lineup. In the tail Mukesh Kadali 11 and Saj Baskaran 11* played important knocks to get the boys over the line for their 4th win of the season. The 3s now sit at 2nd on the ladder at the break. Check out some photos from the 2s game at Jarvis

22.01.2022 ROUND 6 & 7 TEAMS A massive doubleheader for the 1s and 2s while the 3s are in action on Saturday only. The 1s play at home against Geelong West Saturday then travel to Newcomb on Sunday.... The 2s travel to Geelong West then play home on the Sunday. 3s are at St Albans on Saturday.

22.01.2022 Introducing a new series of posts: Get to know your Eagles! While we get through the offseason, we're going to get to know some of the players of WPDCC. First up is newly appointed Coach Garry Lolicato!... Who should be next?

21.01.2022 Excellent news tonight as the GCA announced start dates for the 2020/21 season. Our turf teams will open the season against Bannockburn on Saturday 31 October. The 3s will start on Saturday 7 November, with the draw to be advised. It looks like all matches will be one-dayers. There will be regular breaks to santise the ball and for players to sanitise their hands, while we will have to wear face masks if we're not batting, bowling or fielding. We have until October 23 to no...minate how many hard wicket teams we want to field. There's a possibility we could nominate a fourth team or combine with another club to field an extra team. To go down either path, we need to have pretty definite numbers on committed players. Realistically 50 regular players gives us a chance to enter four teams. In the meantime, please make sure you get into the nets and start getting ready for the season ahead. Can't wait to get stuck into it. See more

18.01.2022 Super shot, that

18.01.2022 A year ago today, our 1s and 2s kicked off the 2019/20 season. It's now just 26 days until the 2020/21 season kicks off!

17.01.2022 ROUND 3 REVIEW It was another 2/3 wins yesterday as the 1s got off the mark and the 2s made it back to back wins! The 1s travelled to Thomson and chose to bat first. After getting to 2/28 early on, AB walked to the crease as a man on a mission. Him and Garry Lolicato put on a massive 168 runs stand as AB hit 120 off 107 including 9 sixes and 8 fours. Meanwhile Gaz put on 41 including 7 fours. The boys ended up getting to 243 with I.Dunuka (16) and J.Ray (15) helping to reach ...the massive score. Things looked good with the ball as well with early wickets to Lolicato (1/22) and AB (2/14). Thomson were able to build some partnerships in the middle order but it wasn’t enough with wickets shared between Cameron Rochow (2/32) Ranga Sai (1/25), Raj lankireddy (1/35) and Mani Dhulipudi (1/41). Thomson ended up on 176, well short of the target. This gives the 1s their first win of the season as they return home next week. The 2s were playing at Jarvis for the first time this season and bowled first. Incredibly, there were four run outs which helped restrict Thomson to 9/142. Tyler McHarry was the pick of the bowlers with 3/27. The 2s batted first and got off to a rocky start with the score being 6/44 at one stage and then 7/57. With still needing 90 runs, Preet Patel came in and put on a huge 61 not out stand batting along side Mathew Wescombe before he got out for 10. Needing 25 from the last wicket, Patel and Chris Gary got it to the final few runs with a 6 coming to win the game. This brings the second consecutive win for the 2s, already beating last season results. The 3s played at Newcomb and bowled first. Michael Leitch (3/30) was the pick of the bowlers with William Potter (2/31), Abel Joy (2/28) and J.Achanta (1/34) taking the other wickets to restrict Marshall to 158 from 40 overs. The chase looked promising with Kev Fuller (28) and Aditya Divkar (21) helping set a platform before a masterclass display from Harry Perry (51 not out) got the boys in a winnable position. Unfortunately, some late wickets were costly in the end as the 3s fell just 12 runs short of the target. Check out some photos from the 1s game yesterday

16.01.2022 Round 1 Results Two tight matches for the club ended in narrow defeats as we kicked off the season. The 1s bowled first and two early wickets from Troy Oakley (2/28) got Bannockburn to 2/25. Some tight bowling in the middle overs from Mani Dhulipudi (1/14), Cameron Rochow (1/23) and Raj Lankireddy (1/30) had the visitors at a precarious 6/112. Garry Lolicato in his first game as 1s captain, bowled an excellent spell at the death to get figures of 3/31 while AB also bowled a g...reat last spell to have figures of 1/21 from his 10 overs. The Bulls finished on 9/150 leaving a respectful target for the Eagles. A nervy start for the top order falling to 3/25 as the skipper entered the crease. After a slow start and a broken bat, Gaz got going to record 45 off 77. 12 from Indushan Dinuka and 16 from Jono Ray got the total to 6/108 as the target was in sight. A couple of quick wickets had the boys needing 29 from 10 overs but only 2 wickets In hand. Raj Lankireddy and Cameron Rochow stuck around chipping the total away with some big hitting from Raj (24) before he got out with just five needed. In the next and final over with just 3 to win, Bannockburn got the final wicket from a tight run out as the game ended in the most dramatic of fashions. The 2s traveled to Bannockburn to start their season as they batted first. 26 from Sam Robinson at the top of the order was the highlight of the innings. 19 from captain Daniel Breen and 23 from Ranga Sai helped in the middle order but the tail fell easy as the boys were bowled out for 94 in the 44th over. Early wickets from Jeromee Stadon (3/11) and Preet Patel (1/31) had Bannockburn in trouble at 2-11 and then 4-29 as Tyler McHarry (2/26) got 2 wickets but the rest of bannockburn's middle order ended up doing enough to chase down the total 6 wickets down at the end of the 39th over. The 1s have another home game next Saturday against Lethbridge while the 2s travel to Meredith. The 3s are expected to start next week as well with a venue and fixture TBD. Check out some photos from the 1s game with more to come during the week.

13.01.2022 ROUND 2 Results It was 2 out of 3 yesterday as the 2s and 3s got up for their first wins of the Season! The 1s were at home again and bowled first as Troy Oakley (2/10) picked up two wickets early. With Lethbridge then getting away, Mani Dhulipudi reeled them back in with incredible figures of 2/8 off 10 overs. Another two wickets to Cameron Rochow (2/23) had the visitors 5/99 but some good late order hitting got them to 9/153 from the 50 overs. AB (1/32) Garry Lolicato (1/27...) and Jono Ray (1/29) took the other wickets. The batting innings wasn’t nearly as successful with Eagles being pinned at 3/17 early on. 22 from Garry Lolicato and 19 from Indushan Dinuka did give a bit of promise however it didn’t stick as the boys were bowled out for 80. The 2s were out at Meredith and after losing a few early wickets, gritted their teeth for a competitive total of 9/140. David Basham made 23 at the top of the order while Dom Richards made 19 in his first 2s game but the big partnerships came at the end of the innings with Preet Patel (36), Jez Stadon (16) and Chris Gray (18*) putting on 70 between themselves. It set up a great second innings with Jez Stadon (3/38) having the hosts 1/0 early on. Three wickets from Al Sudholz (3/22) helped break open the middle order while 2/4 from Dom Richards helped see off a win by 11 runs as Meredith were bowled out for 129. The 3s played their first match and also batted first. A great opening stand from Gautham Sathikumar (51 not out) and Mitch O’Neill (18) helped kick start the season. There was a bit of a collapse in the middle order before William Potter (21) and Jagedeesh (19) helped steer the innings to a strong total of 6/145. An excellent display with the ball was shown as Aireys Inlet were bowled out for just 66. Jagedeesh did the damage taking 4/18. The rest of the wickets were shared around with Abel Joy (2/10) William Potter (1/5) and Prashant Pathak (1/12) all showing economical bowling. In the end the boys won by a massive 79 runs! All three teams are back next weekend with the 2s playing their first match at Jarvis Check out some photos of the 1s bowling innings yesterday at home

13.01.2022 ROUND 13 RESULTS It was 3 from 3 yesterday as the 1s, 2s and 3s all won their matches. The 1s had 310 to defend and in the end won by 131 runs as Guild were bowled out for 179. Troy Oakley (1/40) took the first wicket with Mani Dhulipudi and Mathew Wescombe then taking the rest of the wickets. Dhulipudi took 4 to finish on 37 wickets for the season and Wescombe took 4 as well. The 1s finished 7th on the ladder.... The 2s won their second game of the season with a comprehensive bowling display with the match being reduced to a one-dayer. Raj Lankireddy led the way taking his first 5fa for the club (5/33) with the rest of the wickets shared between Cameron Rochow (2/16), Preet Patel (2/25) and Jarred Daniel (1/8). With 107 needed, Darcy Southern (24) and Daniel Breen (11) started well with Lachie Bartlett (13), Corey Chrystal (21), Mitch Lester (17) and Jarred Daniel (13) getting the boys home with 4 wickets in hand. Although the 2s didn't quite have the season they wanted, yesterday was an excellent performance from the whole team. The 3s bowled out Lara for 98 with all bowlers taking a wicket. Dom Richards (2/28), Prashant Pathak (2/19) and William Potter (2/6) all took 2 wickets. With the bat not a wicket was lost as Pat Tanner made his second 50 for the season. Sam Robinson made 35 not out and Kevin Fuller made 9 not out. The 3s ended the season in 6th place and just outside the top 4. Check out some photos from the 2s game at Guild

03.01.2022 ROUND 5 REVIEW The 1s and 3s went down yesterday while the 2s had another great win. The 1s travelled to St Albans and batted first. Looking shaky early on with a score of 7/61 Indushan Dinuka (50) and Mani Dhulipudi (54) rescued the innings to reach a competitive score of 165 all out. With the ball, early wickets from openers Garry Lolicato (2/25) and Roy Oakley (1/23) helped start the defence well but as the host started to build an innings the game looked like it would go... down to the wire. Three wickets from AB (3/38) and one from Mani Dhulipudi (1/26) gave the boys a chance but unfortunately in the second last over, St Albans got to the target score with 3 wickets left. The 2s played at home and bowled first. A great opening display from Al Sudholz (3/26) and Raj Lankireddy (2/30) set up the game with all other bowlers chipping in for a wicket including two from Mathew Wescombe (2/15) and single wickets from Dom Richards (1/8), Gautham Sathikumar (1/8) and Michael Leitch (1/17) as St Albans were bowled out for 109. With the bat 50 from captain Daniel Breen led the way in the run chase with Dom Richards also getting 16. The boys ultimately chased down the target 8 down with plenty of overs left. The 3s were at lakeside and batted first. A majestic 50 from William Potter was the highlight with 32 from Harsha Varden, 25 not out from Abel Joy and 19 from Harry Perry as the other top scores as the boys reached 8/165. Unfortunately, South Barwon was able to reach this just 4 wicket down with Abel Joy (1/38) and Saj Baskaran (2/28) leading the wickets. Check out some photos from the 1s game at St Albans Reserve
