24.01.2022 Applying for a job can at times be overwhelming, especially if you are time poor or you have not been through the application process in a while. Here are key steps to help you put your application together: Look through the job ad to see what you will need to submit as part of your application. Many job ads will ask for a resume and a cover letter, but sometimes you will need to supply extra documents or answer targeted questions. ... A great resume is key to most job applications, so it is a good idea to focus on this next. Whether you are starting fresh or updating your existing resume, you need to highlight your key achievements, skills, and experience most relevant to the job. Create a cover letter tailored to the job, it should take the form of a brief letter, one page is usually enough. Talk about why you want to work at that company, is it their culture??? Or perhaps their reputation has inspired you. Outline what you can bring to the role, highlight your most relevant experience, and make sure you include key words from the job ad. Proofread your work, spelling and grammar are important, and you want to make the best impression possible. It may be a good idea to get someone else to review your documents. Check your contact details, make sure they are correct and easy to find for the employer/recruiter to call you. When you are ready to submit your application, it is important to update the file names of your document. Little details like these can make a big difference and before you click the submit button, check the documents you have attached one last time to make sure all the required information is there. Prepare for the follow up call, if you are applying for multiple jobs in a short time frame, it can be difficult to remember exactly what you have submitted and when. Therefore it is a good idea to use a list or spreadsheet, that way if a potential employer calls you, you can find the information you need quickly and be ready to handle any questions they may have. 21.01.2022 Interviews can be very intimidating, and you spend so much time psyching yourself up to even apply for the job, then you get the call offering you an interview, and then the panic starts. Here are some questions and how you might want to go about answering them. Describe your management style?... Answer tip avoid using labels, like progressive, consultative, persuasive Example: I believe in building a team. Each member of the team should be clear on their role, know where they fit in and feel as though they can depend on one another. I also believe in real-time feedback. If you do something wrong, you should know it immediately. Regardless of right or wrong, the further removed feedback is in time, the less effective it is. Why should we hire you? Answer tip you have an opportunity to really stand out from the pack. Example: You shouldn’t assume the skills other applicants have. Focus on your own strengths, and if the interview hasn’t given you an opportunity to mention that one quality about yourself, now would be the time to MENTION it. Give it all you got, but if you need someone to help you shake off that interview nerves and build CONFIDENCE, get in touch. DM Me or E: [email protected]

19.01.2022 In a competitive job market, having a resume that works for you is essential. Even if you’re a qualified candidate, one seemingly small resume mistake could mean the difference between a job-landing interview and a missed opportunity. Here are my tips to avoid cringe-worthy resume-writing mistakes!... Spelling and grammatical errors Incorrect or missing contact information Using an unprofessional email address Including outdated or irrelevant information Failure to demonstrate results Being too generalised AND not customising to match the job Repetitive words Including a headshot Incorrect format / design be mindful of ATS algorithms If you’re not sure if you are making any of these resume mistakes, GET IN TOUCH, request a free resume review and find out.
