25.01.2022 Westbrook Hall Committee Inc Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held Tuesday 22nd September at 1900/7pm, at Westbrook Tavern
24.01.2022 Westbrook Hall Committee AGM will be Tuesday 22nd September at 7pm, at Westbrook Tavern. We would love to see new people who are interested in service to their community/Westbrook history, especially as we start planning for the centenary of the dedication of the Anzac memorial in 2022.
23.01.2022 This Saturday the Westbrook Anzac Day Dawn Service will be shown as a short film on this page leading up to the nationwide 'Stand To' at 6am. Stay Tuned and please spread the word far and wide. In the meantime, here's one of our guest speakers.
23.01.2022 The live stream of the Westbrook Anzac Day service will start at 5:38am. Refresh the page a few seconds before and press play. You can join in at any time and you will still hear the Last Post at 6am ... when you're standing on your driveway. Just before it is time for the 6am Nationwide Driveway Stand To, you will be asked to head outside for the Last Post and a minute's silence, followed by Reveille and the national anthem, so be ready to move!... The Order Of Service below gives you a good idea of what to expect. If you can't make it, the good news is the film will be up for viewing throughout the day. Please, share this far and wide so we can get a large part of Westbrook tuning in, and maybe many more from far beyond our little town.
22.01.2022 Remembrance Day observance will be held at Westbrook 11/11/20
22.01.2022 and sadly, that will be the last dance until further notice for what I hope is an obvious reason. Maintaining ‘Social distance’ is not what dancing is about after all
21.01.2022 Thank you Westbrook. As promised, you the people of Westbrook have done yourself proud. As Mason and I walked down to the Hall to raise the flag and lay a wreath on behalf of the Toowoomba Region, it was great to see so many folks outside paying their respects. I also want to thank you all for supporting our efforts this week in sharing our posts and tuning in this morning. As many of you who know me, this town and those soldiers and their families hold a special place in my heart, so it truly means the world to me that you all came on board. Most of my heart is filled with Ruth and Mason ... these two made this film a reality. The credit is all theirs. Christopher.

17.01.2022 So much changed with this year's Anzac Day. But some things have basically stayed the same. Originally, the Westbrook Tavern had planned a gunfire breakfast and Two-Up festivities for the day, but that all changed. With the changes, the Chef's Lab stepped up to the mark and have organised a takeaway breakfast from their van in the Tavern carpark. So, make sure you get into the Tavern Drive Thru in the next couple of days to sort yourself in advance (it won't be open Anzac morning) and after the the Hall's Dawn Service , get down to sort your your breakfast. Best of all, Dustyn and Cynthia have sorted to donate some of the proceeds towards the Westbrook Hall.

07.01.2022 Many personal tributes at the memorial by this evening. The memorial will stay lit up tonight.
04.01.2022 A day has passed, I've caught up on some sleep, and now it's time to say thanks to a few folks. For me, I would like to thank the Westbrook Hall Committee for inviting me to organise this year's Anzac Day service. In particular I would like to thank committee members Elizabeth and Dieter for the contributions to this year's service. I'd like to thank the committee all over again for letting me run with the new plan once social isolation rules were put into place. It was a sim...ple enough idea, but it took a lot of faith on their part, and even more skill on the part of my wife Ruth and our son Mason. If folks want to thank people for the finished product, it is seriously down to my family. The film would not exist if not for Mason. His filming much of it and the editing and post production were all down to his efforts. Equally, for the thousands who have watched the film, you have only done so because Ruth knew how to share it with the world, particularly timed for the 6am 'Stand To'. On behalf of the Hall Committee I would also like to thank everyone who did their bit to make it all happen. Our schools, Bunker's Hill SS and Harristown SHS, came to the party with various live performances, and with the added deadline of early school closures making it that little bit more pressured. Teachers Briannah Alexander with the Bunker’s Hill Choir singing the National Anthem, and Harristown’s Jordie McDonald with Bonnie Wilson performing The Last Post and Reveille showed off their talents perfectly. In another role, it's easy for me to say thanks to Mason for his speech. But the numerous comments on this page speak for themselves on the delivery and effects of his words. Your comments folks say it better than I ever could. Long time resident Lieutenant Colonel Tim Baker did a great job yet again on behalf of those currently serving with a suitably great effort to what is ultimately the point of our service; remembering those 12 men. With all real time commitments cancelled, it became possible to get our three levels of government involved and all three leaders joined in, offering their insight into 2020 yet still remembering our small town. To John McVeigh, Pat Weir MP and Mayor Paul Antonio we say thanks for your time and words. Lastly, a big thanks goes to Triple M's Lee Faulkner who tied it all together. With a voice that many folks recognise, Lee was the ultimate professional, proudly giving his time and talents for his town and providing the perfect, well voice, to the proceedings. To all of you, the Hall Committee says thank you. To Westbrook, I can't say thanks enough. Christopher
