25.01.2022 Food haul First week back into full training and I'm definitely feeling sore, tired and wondering when I can plan my next break Juggling the training for 5 sports on top of a busy holiday work schedule is tough. I'm out the door at 4.30am for my first session and sometimes not home until after 9pm. This requires me to not only be super organised with my weekly schedule, but also with meal prepping to ensure I'm getting all the right nutrition and not having to buy food t...hroughout the day. Whether it be pre-cutting or dicing fruit, veg or meat or even cooking some meals I can grab and warm up. This week included some frittata, meal prepping some turkey rissoles and cutting up my veggies for the week! If anyone has any snack or meal ideas, please let me know Would love some more options to add. #5uperathlete #perthfitfam #perthfit #mealprepping #health #fitness #runningoutofmealideas

25.01.2022 Couldnt help but share some of these gorgeous photos weve managed to capture the last few weeks Before the pools closed a few weeks, Id completed 1 open water swim in my life, and it was all of 500m. I didnt grow up around the ocean or visiting the beach frequently so have never been that confident swimming in the waves. Also jellyfish and sharks? No thank you Beyond lucky to have found this little stretch along the river to keep ticking the body over and not completely lose my feel in the water. While there are still jellyfish (thankfully minimising as it gets colder) views like this make it all the worthwhile

25.01.2022 I think its safe to say the rain clouds definitely opened up on us yesterday

24.01.2022 Things ramping up

24.01.2022 "Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it or work around it" (Michael Jordan) Feel like I'm taking 2 steps forward 3 steps back at the moment with my knee injury, 10 weeks post fall. Unfortunately after getting a little too over zealous on the Anti-Gravity treadmill and raising the intensity too quickly too soon after injury, I added a few extra weeks onto my rehab period. I also got... banned from running on it as I apparently couldn't be trusted The last few days have been a struggle with some increased pains and worry of ligament damage that wouldn't have come up on the MRI. Thankfully after a check up this afternoon with my super physio, we've narrowed it down to referred pain around the patella from the impact of the fall As a result of the extended recovery period and not wanting to put it further at risk, I had to make the hard decision to pull out of the WA Tetrathlon team for the 2019 Pony Club Australia Nationals, which are being held in Sydney in 2 weeks. Injury is one of the most frustrating things to deal with as an athlete. Going from daily exercise and body engagement to being stuck immobile and limited with what you can do really makes you realise how lucky you are to be able to do what you. You never realise how much you take something for granted until you can no longer do it. Thankfully I've still been able to go to the gym 3 times a week, which I'm pretty is the only thing keeping me sane at the moment After dealing with a stress fracture the majority of last year, it's upsetting that I haven't been able to build up to a level I'm happy with and be competitive in the sport I love, instead keep getting hit with set backs. It's certainly challenged me mentally and emotionally, but only further ignited the fire I have burning in my belly to get back out there and reach my peak If all things go to plan in the next 2 weeks, I'll be taking my first run (awkward shuffle from lack of fitness more accurate) in 3! Just in time for a hard summer of training Sorry for the long post! 23.01.2022 Something I think can relate to everything in life. Enjoyed reading this

23.01.2022 Myself, along with a team of students from the Physical Fitness and Health unit at UWA, are currently taking part in the 2020 Push Up Challenge. The Push-Up Challenge is raising money to support National Youth Mental Health Organisation, a foundation working to strengthen the mental health and wellbeing of Australians. This year, the challenge highlights the devastating number of Australian lives lost to suicide in 2018; 3,046. So throughout the month of May, our goal as a t...eam is to complete 3,046 push ups! So many people are affected by mental health, whether its themselves or through friends/family. The more we fundraise, the more young people we can support. Even a gold coin donation can go a long way! If anyone has any push up variations they want to challenge me to (Im pretty terrible at push ups but will give it a go!) comment below More info on the challenge/foundation and donations can be found at the link below! Heres to a month of many, many push ups

21.01.2022 Can officially say my first set of Uni exams are complete! Excited for 5 weeks off to jump back on the bandwagon and reset my sights and goals with training after a cruisey few weeks around studying. Heres some snaps from my first track session in a few weeks and finally getting back in the pool

21.01.2022 The one time of year I won't be caught in activewear As always, a great night at the RAC Sport Star of the year awards, celebrating 2019 achievements and performances from some incredible athletes, teams and clubs. Thanks to RAC, Sports West and Optus Stadium for a great night! #RACSportstars #5uperathlete #sweatpantsandslidesplease

20.01.2022 Today marks exactly 13 weeks since my riding accident. It's been a tough and very long road to recovery, physically and more so mentally, at times I didn't know if I was going to be able to come back from it. Small things would spark pain and make it feel like I was constantly on the downhill and not improving. The frustration and emotional drain of the injury and recent exam stress left me feeling hopeless and upset on a daily basis. I was very limited in what I could do an...d seeing my training group keep training around me and prepare for Nationals was really hard and probably what I struggled with most. Physio exercises and gym were being completed on a daily basis to try and regain some strength in my knee. When my physio finally told me last week I could go for a test run, I could keep the smile off my face I've never been so scared to run. Not just the fear of the unknown and not knowing if it would hurt (though I was worried I wouldn't actually remember how to run ) but that I would make it worse and end up right back at the start of my recovery. It took a lot of willpower not to turn back to my car and come up with ways to explain to my physio that I couldn't bring myself to run. After many deep breaths, I convinced myself I could do it. Over the moon to say yesterday, I went for my first run shuffle. Although very slow and unfit as expected, the knee felt good and hopefully a sign it's on the mend Massive thank you to my support crew for all their guidance and support in my rehab and recovery. Onwards and upwards from here. Looking forward to a summer of training

19.01.2022 Gyms closed, fencing closed, pools closed. Only slightly going insane Feeling blessed to still be able to run (while safely social distancing of course ) and that my housemate felt as lost as I did and bought some house gym equipment. Lucky or unlucky for them though, going from around 8rs training a day to being stuck inside results in lots of spare energy! Tried something new to keep the mind engaged, add a little cardio and have some fun For any boxers out there, my technique is shocking, I know! First time in the mitts I hope everyone is safe and healthy. Stay positive and well get through this Remember physical activity is just as important now more then ever! If youre lost for something you can do at home, let me know and Ill try and come up with something fun for you

19.01.2022 Had some fun coaching down at Wanneroo Horse and Pony Club on Sunday Lots of talented athletes preparing for the up and coming Tetrathlon season

17.01.2022 Strength and Conditioing is a massive part of supplementing training and Im so happy to have finally found a gym that suits me. The guys at Formidable Strength & Conditioning make training enjoyable and fun while still ensuring you get the most out of the session. In the short 4 weeks Ive been training with them, Im already starting to see massive improvements all around. I cant thank Ryan enough for all his guidance and support in my rehab and recovery back to running. Cant wait to get a solid block of training under my belt over summer with these guys by my side

17.01.2022 How has everyone been feeling about these colder mornings we've been getting? I, for one, enjoy spending a little extra time snuggled down in my blankets and some days have to drag myself from the warmth of my bed to get on with my day. And who wants to go for a run in the rain and hail?! Definitely not me. But with the colder days and winter right around the corner, I thought I'd share some of my top tips/tricks I've picked up over the years to stay active during the cold...er months: 1. Where possible, I try and organise a training session with friends or some training partners. This makes you more accountable for getting out of the house to meet them and get the session done. I always find it's nice to organise a coffee or cafe trip after the session, as both an added thing to look forward to and a little reward. 2. Correct clothing. As it starts to get colder, we're all going to be adding more layers when we leave the house. This is the same when you're exercising. Layering up allows you to stay warm and dry, and is easy to strip a layer or 2 if you get too warm. 3. Plan ahead. I always check the weather forecast the day before an outdoor session so I can try and optimise the best weather throughout the day. Obviously not everyone has this luxury with work or study, but if you plan your activity in advance, you won't get caught out with bad weather and have an excuse up your sleeve. 4. The colder weather outside might provide you with a great opportunity to try a new class or join a fitness group. Winter is just as good a time as any to chase those health and fitness goals. There are also massive benefits for your mental health to stay fit, healthy and get out of the house, especially when we're spending more time indoors. Although there will definitely be times over the next few months I'm just going to have to suck it up, get rained on and think of the hot shower afterwards, hopefully these tips can help some of you stay motivated. If anyone has anymore to share or some things that work well for them, I'd love to hear them!

15.01.2022 One week of training down with the crew We have been gifted with some interesting weather, from hot and humid to bucketing down with rain So grateful to be able to come up here and train with some other athletes before our National Champs in 2 weeks. I definitely never take having a training partner, let alone more then 1, for granted after training solo for so long in Perth. Fingers crossed the rain gods are kind this week and we can get some more good sessions under our belts

14.01.2022 Not surprised I'm at the airport on New Years Eve heading off to Melbourne on a training camp. Think it's about time I set up a bed here somewhere I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas with their families and loved ones. While 2019 wasn't my best year, faced with injury and finishing off Year 12, I can't wait to start fresh in 2020 and am excited about what is to come. Lots of training opportunities, as well as an international trip or 2 I wish everyone a safe and happy New Years and hope 2020 brings joy and happiness to you all

14.01.2022 Aaannnnd back into the sports wear Last year for me in the Australian U20 National Fencing Champs and happy to come away with a bronze medal. This marks 3 bronze medals for me at Junior Nationals over the years. While I wouldve loved to have stepped up in my final year, I was happy with how I fenced throughout the day, especially after only being back training 5 weeks after my injury. It was exactly a year since I last wore my competition whites! At Junior Nationals in 20...19 Was quite worried I wouldnt be able to get them on This marks the start of a busy few weeks. Tomorrow I fly up to Coffs Harbour for 3 weeks of training before the Australian Modern Pentathlon Nationals in Brisbane on the 9th March. 14.01.2022 Top-up time has to be one of my favourite times of the month Fisiocrem is definitely a staple in my training week and I'm often using it daily both between and after sessions as a form of recovery. I love that it uses active plant ingredients such as Arnica, Calendula and Hypercium. Super easy to apply and great at clearing up muscular aches and pains. Definitely recommend giving it a go if you haven't tried it before, because we all know hurting sucks! ... Fisiocrem #hurtingsucks #5uperathlete

13.01.2022 International Women's Day For me, a day to remember how grateful I am to have such strong, powerful, supportive women in my life, both in and out of sport. My amazing training partners, who inspire and motivate me day in and day out. ... Likeminded female athletes who I've had the pleasure of working with, whose strong passion and advocacy for women in sport is so inspiring. A day to recognise and celebrate the impact of women in our lives, the strength, adversity and bravery of those to leave a better world behind us, for those to come. #internationalwomensday #womenins

04.01.2022 One of my favourite go to meals during the week, especially after a hard training session as it ticks all the recovery meal boxes Protein Carbs Veggies Super quick and easy Sweet Potato Shepherds pie. Definitely guilty of not the healthiest eating recently with exams coming up next week and fueling my study with a bit too much chocolate and snacking Perfect meal to load with veggies and whip up in minutes, not to mention being delicious. Being iron-deficient, its a...lso a great opportunity to get in some extra iron through beans and iron rich veggies. All ingredients are also super easy to sub out for something else. Tonight I chose: - Lean beef mince - Zucchini - Corn kernels - Baby peas - Cannellini beans - Broccoli - Mashed sweet potato - Grated cheese to top Chuck to mince in a pan with some beef stock to cook, add veggies. Place in oven safe dish, spreading mashed sweet potato over the top and grated cheese to finish. Place in the oven for a few minutes to melt cheese. And vola!
