23.01.2022 You’ve got to see it to be it. That’s why the Andrews Government is taking action to increase the representation of girls and women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) fields in Victoria. Dandenong students are benefitting from this drive, including at Lyndale Secondary College where our $27.6 million upgrade has established a new dedicated STEM centre. The school has also recently introduced a new flight simulator into its STEM curriculum. As you can see her...e, it was quite the experience! Across the state, a new Girls in STEM Map will enable girls and women to more easily access 170 programs and activities designed to boost STEM engagement. 20.01.2022 Do you know a trailblazer, a local champion, a change agent, an emerging leader, or someone who has led the way through our disaster response? Nominate her for the 2021 Victorian Honour Roll of Women. Each year, the Honour Roll recognises women who have demonstrated leadership and excellence in the community. This year, more than ever, we have seen women the bulk of our carers, health and social assistance workers as the engine of our community.... Too often women miss out on the recognition they deserve. Let’s acknowledge the vast contributions of women, from our health and care workers, to those leading in our boardrooms and community groups. Think about younger women and older women. You can even nominate yourself. #HonourHer at https://www.vic.gov.au/victorian-honour-roll-women-program

15.01.2022 Today we turned the Parliament orange in honour of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. It is up to every one of us to ensure that every woman in our community feels safe, respected and equal at home, at work and everywhere in between.

13.01.2022 The Andrews Government is putting workers front and centre in our recovery. The Victorian Budget 2020/21 invests a record $619.4 million to deliver a bigger, more hands-on Jobs Victoria network connecting jobseekers to the job they need to get back to work. Focusing on women, young people, and older people most impacted by this pandemic, this unprecedented investment in Jobs Victoria will help make our state stronger and fairer.

11.01.2022 Victorian women undertake around twice the unpaid care when compared with men. This unequal distribution of care is a significant barrier to the workforce participation of women - it means women are more likely to work casually or part time, at lower pay. And it meant that when COVID hit, women were significantly more likely to lose work or stop working to undertake responsibilities at home.... It is this kind of structural inequality that drives the gender pay gap, the superannuation gap and sees our bottom line missing out on the economic opportunities that full participation of women brings. Getting more women into work is good for families, good for our economy, and it is good for our community. As a government, we must create the settings to make things more equal at work, to help drive equality at home. That’s why we will provide free kinder in 2021 and expand the availability of outside school hours care to ensure every Victorian family has the support they need to learn, work and thrive.

10.01.2022 Building a fairer future for our state means delivering better outcomes for Aboriginal Victorians. We can only achieve this by having Traditional Owner voices at the centre of decision making. That’s why this year, we’re delivering Victoria’s biggest investment in Aboriginal communities, ever.... This is a historic investment to support Aboriginal self-determination through all spheres of life. That includes new jobs in frontline Aboriginal community-controlled services, more and better housing, supporting greater Traditional Owner involvement in land and water management, progressing treaty and much more. This Budget acknowledges the deep-seated injustices that continue to shape the lives of Aboriginal Victorians. We can do better. We must do better. And we will do better.

10.01.2022 Local win - $300,000 to upgrade mental health infrastructure at Dandenong Hospital! The upgrades will ensure that all bedroom doors have patient-controlled locks, make improvements to the security of women’s only areas, increase the number of nurse call systems, improve privacy, and accelerate the planning of dedicated family lounge areas where possible. This funding is part of our commitment to implement every recommendation of Victoria’s Mental Health Royal Commission and rebuild our mental health system.

08.01.2022 The social wellbeing of the Victorian community is critical to our recovery from COVID-19. That's why we are investing $235 million to build our Recovery Workforce - to provide more support to those who spend their lives supporting us. The package includes a new $40 million fund to provide Aboriginal services with the resources they need to expand the Aboriginal community, health and family violence workforce. Aboriginal Victorians know what’s best for their families and thei...r communities that’s why we will ensure Aboriginal people make the call on what, where and how that support is delivered. We will also invest over $8 million to build the family violence and sexual assault workforce, providing 240 traineeships across the state. Together, we will rebuild a strong and resilient Victoria, with more support for those who need it most.

08.01.2022 November 25 - December 10 mark the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence. This year we're encouraging all Victorians to look at what respect means to them, and to call out disrespect when and where they see it. Over the next two weeks we will be sharing stories from the Victim Survivors' Advisory Council about what Respect Is to them.... Ash joined the Victim Survivors' Advisory Council to bring the voices of women of colour to the council & to share her experience about the additional layers of oppression facing women from multicultural communities.

08.01.2022 Back to school! It's an exciting day for all the students heading back to classrooms today. To all the preps starting a new adventure this week, good luck. Parents, it's okay to shed a tear!... A special shoutout to our incredible teachers and school staff - thank you for everything you do to support our community every day.

07.01.2022 As our state recovers stronger and fairer, we need to make sure every Victorian has the support they need. The Victorian Budget 2020/21 will invest an unprecedented $1.6 billion to make sure students with disability are supported in the classroom through an Australian first Disability Inclusion package. This record investment will transform support for students with a disability in Victorian government schools.

07.01.2022 Each year on 11 November, Remembrance Day, we pause to remember those men and women who have served in all wars, and pay our respects. This year also marks the 75th anniversary of the end of the World War Two. 75 years since thousands of Victorian veterans returned home to join their families and their friends. Thousands more never made that journey home. This Remembrance Day we honour their memory, and the memory of all who have served, as we reflect on their sacrifice. Lest we forget.

05.01.2022 For the first time in Victoria's history, Traditional Owners will take ownership of water in a river system. This is self-determination in action. As we move along our path towards treaty, we want to see greater Traditional Owner rights reflected in the management of Country, both on land and across our waterways.... Congratulations to Gunaikurnai for taking on two gigalitres of water in the Mitchell River and for protecting its cultural values and uses. A wonderful outcome during NAIDOC 2020. https://www.premier.vic.gov.au/water-traditional-owners-vic
