25.01.2022 TOMORROW: Thursday, 17th September, starting at 9.30am - Windang Public School Spelling Bee Finals. The finals can be watched via Zoom. Mrs Kocovska will publish the Zoom link via ENEWS. We will start with Kindergarten and work upwards through each year's finalists up to Year 6. This is the very first time we have had a Spelling Bee which involves every class in the school: it is anticipated that each year group will take 10 - 15 minutes. However, unfortunately, an accurate time to see a particular year group cannot be given. We are very excited for this event. A big congratulations and good luck to all students who will be participating tomorrow!

Kindergarten to Year 5 students will make a tunnel without touching hands from the Kindergarten classroom to Mrs Gardiner's classroom. Two Adults per Year 6 student is invited to stand and make a tunnel (without touching hands) along the back of the canteen; as each Year 6 student rings the bell and proceeds to exit via the main gate. 12.01.2022 Many parents and carers may not be aware that some apps or games their children use come with a messaging function. Without strong privacy settings, message or... chat functions can potentially allow anyone to make contact with your child. Offenders are also often known to use these message functions as a way to approach children online. Our latest #factsheet about instant messaging can help you better understand the challenges, including tips for staying safe. If you or someone you know would like to know more, share or download our fact sheet at: https://www.thinkuknow.org.au//0064_ThinkUKnow%20FS%20Inst

10.01.2022 Dear Parents and Carers, During school holidays, students generally spend more time online accessing a variety of social media accounts. We are reaching out to parents in an appeal for support from our entire community to take steps to protect our children (in some cases protecting them from themselves) from the content they are posting and viewing online. ... We are the first generation of parents to experience the challenges associated with social media and we must collectively rise to the challenge. For further information and advice we strongly advise all Parents to check the e-safety Commission website https://www.esafety.gov.au/ We also recommend parents of students in Years 5 & 6 watch the NETFLIX documentary, The Social Dilemma and consider watching it with your children to open discussions about the broader implications of social media on them, their relationships, and society. All social media platforms have regulations relating to children (see the matrix below). Please contact the school if you wish to discuss this matter or require additional advice or support. We will be organising and sharing further information with parents after the school break. Regards Loreta Kocovska
