22.01.2022 Our precious Ivy the Green Sea Turtle is on the road to recovery. Look at her beautiful shell! When we rescued her last week she was covered in thick green algae which meant she hadn’t visited the cleaning station as she is unwell and too weak. This year we have been painting the back deck and enjoying our time off reading our new Christmas books. ... So much can happen in 365 days. So much did happen! Like they say When one door closes, another one opens. 14.01.2022 The first shark "control" program started in Australia in the 1930s. For over 83 years now, Governments in Australia have been marketing these programs to the public as a measure to "keep beachgoers safe". In reality, Australia is responsible for the longest marine cull in history. What they don't tell you is that there is no evidence the programs keep anyone safe. The nets they have in the water do not cover the whole beach, sharks can swim under, over or around them. So, ...what happens is, hundreds to thousands of marine animals get entangled in these floating fishing nets and suffer an often prolonged painful and traumatic death. Since the start of the program over 50,000 sharks have been killed and over 100,000 marine animals in total.
