22.01.2022 Facilitated by the UN Youth Australia, Woodcroft College hosted a preliminary round of Evatt 2020, which is a mock session of the UN Security Council. Students, from Years 9 to 11, debated, amended, and voted on resolutions from the perspective of the country they were assigned. Our students developed skills in negotiation, diplomacy, and political reasoning. They had a lot of fun familiarising themselves with UN protocols and demonstrated a flair for lively debate.

22.01.2022 Last week our Year 10 students had three enrichment days to finish the term. The days gave them the opportunity to take part in a range of activities designed to promote a positive end to the school year. Students were able to choose their own timetable from a range of interests. Some activities included making dream catchers, planting succulents, fitness and wellbeing, helping out with the Junior School and ELC, or decorating delicious cookies. We wish them a relaxing break and look forward to welcoming them to Year 11 next year.

21.01.2022 Our students weren't the only ones to have fun in the sun on Monday! Our staff competed in the inaugural Bin Relay, representing their Houses with gusto and pride! Some kept to their lane, some not so much, one took a tumble and a few showed off their strength, ignoring the wheelie part of the bin and opting to carry it across the line. Hardy had a stow-away, who popped up mid-race. The crowd cheered them all on, but it was Team Morphett who received the loudest applause, mak...ing them the decided winners! It was very entertaining and we hope you enjoy this re-cap!

20.01.2022 At the start of Term 2, when we were facing a new way of learning and engaging with each other, our Year 10 students spent some time painting 'kindness' rocks with uplifting messages. Last week, inspired by The Kindness Rocks Project, our Year 10s collected up their rocks and went for a nature walk to 'deliver' them along a nearby walking trail. We hope they bring some joy to the passers-by who find them.

19.01.2022 Yesterday our Year 4 and 5 students performed in the Junior School Christmas Play "The Midwife and her Donkey Steve". It was a little bit different this year, as we couldn't have parents in the audience. But, they performed to an audience of students and staff, who loved the story, laughed at all the jokes and bopped along to the songs. The play featured songs from our ELC, Reception, Years 1, 2 and 3 students - who appeared on the big screen as a backdrop to the play.... A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the play possible, allowing our students the opportunity to perform this year. Thank you also to Mr Bennett, who has been very busy with the camera, capturing the play and all the songs so he can make a video for our families to watch in the comfort of their own homes.

18.01.2022 It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! December 1 marks the count down to Christmas for most of us and there is plenty happening around the College to remind us that it is the season to be jolly! He's probably hiding from our Elves at Reception!... Our Junior School students have also been busy in Art, making Angels and Nativity scenes, adding colour and sparkle to our Junior School Office.

14.01.2022 Before Term 4 commences, our staff had the opportunity to spend some time together as a team and reflect on our achievements so far, and the importance of finishing the year on a positive note. Our College Pastor, Marty Fox, reminded us that the best we can do for ourselves, and our students, is to be present in the moment. To be a reliable constant, so that our students can finish their school year with confidence. Recognising the importance of self-care and well-being, sta...ff took part in a session held by Dr Leigh Burrows, from Flinders University. Dr Burrows guided staff through effective strategies for being present, creating an environment of calm, and focussing on well-being and self-care as a priority. The positive and present mindset this has provided staff will pave the way for a successful Term 4 for everyone. We look forward to welcoming our students back tomorrow.

01.01.2022 Christmas craft is always a favourite with our students and what better way to spend the last day of school. Our Year 8 Visual Art students are repurposing student artwork to create Christmas cards. The artwork is from Ms Daniel's Art students and it seems apt to be creating new work in Room 52 today. Room 52 was our very first Art room, where Ms Daniel taught her first class, 30 years ago. Today is the last time it will be used as an Art room before it becomes home to our Technical Studies students. We believe art should be celebrated and shared and so Ms Daniel will be taking the lovingly created cards to a local Nursing Home this afternoon.

01.01.2022 Our Year 11 IB students have been studying Henrik Ibsens 'A Dolls House', and had the opportunity to express their creativity by creating their very own doll houses. Working collaboratively, each group focused on different critical perspectives, themes and characterisation. They all agreed that one of the most significant symbols within the play was Noras macarons, so what better way to pay tribute than with some surprise treats from The Macaron Bar in Adelaide.
