06.01.2022 I guess with tropical rainforests, the worlds greatest coral reef and palm lined beaches all at your doorstep, lounging around inside might not be the best way to spend your time in Port Douglas. Until it rains. 06.01.2022 This idyllic spot is Newell Beach, a 20 minute drive north of Port Douglas. If you look at the horizon in this photo, you’ll see a hill on the very left edge of the shot. That’s Port Douglas. These beaches are just pristine. You can swim in them in high season (dry season), but during wet season there are irukandji (poisonous jellyfish), so just don’t...... I took this shot on a perfect July day. I had the entire beach to myself and I just sat there and experienced the moment. If you’re visiting, grab a picnic hamper and take a drive up to some of the lonely beaches to the north.
