25.01.2022 The Fat Rams Ramblings Saturday 12th September - the Yass Rams returned to the paddock for their 8th round of 2020 season playing the Jindabyne Bushpigs at home, which also happened to be Ladies day for the woolly ewes and gala day for the Junior Yass Rams. A few new faces in new positions for the woolly fleeces this week, riddled with injury, changes occured plentiful including Coaches Nathan Cooke and Luke Darmody putting the boots on again to assist.... The Rams came out of the sheds appearing to be ready to take it to Jindabyne from the get go, unfortunately the mountain piggies had other ideas and after 2 mins of game time, put their first points on the board, followed by another 3 tries early in the first half - 22-0 Bushpigs The second half began as the first half ceased, an arm wrestle up and down the field, unfortunately some further injuries to the fleeces saw more changes and players out of position and the points again began to flow to the piggies - fulltime 48-0 to the piggies. Rams had their chances to put points on the board, unfortunately adjudicated as knocking on over the tryline multiple times. Although the scoreboard does not reflect it, not one fleece on the field gave up, 1 to 22 fought hard all day and delivered some rock solid defence in periods as acknowledged by Jindabyne. Special mentions from this Ram goes to: The Ladies Doctor, Outside Centre Patrick Doepel was great in a new position and then shifting to Fullback late in the game Captain Ram, 5/8 Harry Roach led from the front in attack and defence Her Majesties Camper, Flanker Paul Watson again being everywhere on the field and winding back the clock moving to the centres late in the game Wrecking Ball, prop Hassan Alsamara on his debut game for the Rams, holding his own up front Predator Ram, flanker Jayden Ginders on his seniors debut for the Rams and providing solid impact off the bench 2020 Voice Contestant, Halfback Andrew Smith being excited about getting on the chicks pick list... only to find out Andrew Hewitt was the "Andy" the ladies chose The tri-colour Ram, hooker/prop Corey Nicholson was strong up front making an impact from the bench, and showed a new perspective to the younger fleeces of holding one's self together... with a stapler! Points for Round 8: 3 - Harry Roach - BaaH 2 - Andrew Smith 1 - Corey Nicholson & Pat Doepel Players player: Patrick Doepel The Rams now head to Braidwood next weekend to finish off their season, searching for the elusive win. BAAAH for now The Fat Ram #Long Live the Fat Ram
