25.01.2022 Happy Birthday Yaz Mubarakai ! I hope you'll forgive us for taking over your Facebook to post our best wishes. Its been incredible to work alongside you to achieve all that you have for yours and our community (our personal recent favourite would be the noise abatement wall in Leeming)! ... You're the right person for the job in our - slightly biased - eyes. For that reason, we're going to ask your friends and supporters that they help us keep you as our voice in the Mark McGowan Labor team, and ask them to donate $45 (which is a very non-age related specific number) to your re-election campaign. To donate to Yaz's campaign to celebrate his birthday, go to www.yazmubarakai.com.au/donate/ Lots of love Lyndsey, Catherine and Jake Your team

24.01.2022 The Thornlie to Cockburn Link will make a huge difference to our community It will mean linking our ever growing suburbs to the city via a 30 minute rail journey, less cars on our roads, and upgraded rail crossings in Karel Ave and Ranford Road. 500 Western Australians are working on the $716m project that is scheduled for completion in 2023.... With construction underway, I know that there will be some short term inconveniences. Noise and altered traffic conditions will affect our day to day lives. I cannot thank you enough for your patience and understanding. And I thank those residents who reached out to me to voice their support for the widening of the bridge. I was glad to pass on your concerns to the Minister. Please remember to be courteous to other drivers, observe the sign posted speed limit (its 40 at the Ranford Road bridge construction site) and please dont interfere with the traffic cones and signs.

The feedback is overwhelming positive - Western Australians support our handling of COVID and support our recovery plan. ... We’ll be door knocking and calling as many Jandakot locals during the warmer months to listen to their concerns and feedback about our government. This is a mammoth task - so can we count on you to join our team of volunteers? Sign up at https://jandakot.walabor.org.au/volunteer/

24.01.2022 Jobs are our number one priority. On the 8th of June, the Premier Mark McGowan and Treasurer Ben Wyatt joined me in Piara Waters to announce our $20 000 grant for those looking to build a home. Today, we're extending applications for that grant by 6 months. ... We are doing this because we know that this program has created jobs and meant that many Western Australians can better pursue their dream of building and owning their own home. It's just another way myself and the Mark McGowan Labor Government are delivering for Jandakot. To find out more, go to www.mediastatements.wa.gov.au//Building-Bonus-extension-to

23.01.2022 Being stuck in roadworks is pretty frustrating sometimes. I know it. It experience it when I drive around our communuity - and I'm sure you could guess that a few other people have shared their frustrations with me too. But sometimes temporarily closing a road or slowing traffic is a necessary part of building better infrastructure for our community. ... I want to thank all of you for your patience as we start new projects like the Ranford road bridge expansion, and finalise works on Karel Avenue. There will be delays, and it will slow things down - but it'll also mean a better flow of traffic in the future AND money injected into our economy by spending on vital infrastructure projects. Good things take time - so thank you for your patience as we get on with delivering on job-creating congestion-busting projects.

23.01.2022 Sometimes being a member of parliament is as easy as child's play Simone McGurk MLA joined me for a tour of Child Australia Harrisdale Early Learning and a meeting with the key community stakeholders (pictured below). The feedback was clear - sand can be used to make cakes or as a muddy zoo for animals AND our ever-growing community will benefit in the long term by solid investment in early childhood education. ... Harrisdale has the 2nd greatest number of children per household in Western Australia, and is one of the fastest growing communities in the country. This is why I've worked with the McGowan Labor Government to secure funding for a new high school in Piara Waters and an additional primary school in Harrisdale North. This is just another way we're building a better future for WA kids!

Help me remain your voice on the Mark McGowan Labor team and volunteer at www.yazmubarakai.com.au/volunteer

20.01.2022 The WA hard border has been an effective measure in mitigating the spread of COVID-19. I am glad that common sense has prevailed, and that the Federal Court has found in favour of our hard border - and I know that there will be many Jandakot residents feeling who are relieved to hear of this decision. As I have said before, for as long as is deemed necessary and lawfully allowed, I will support our interstate border restrictions.

20.01.2022 INFORMATION NIGHT FOR HARRISDALE AND PIARA WATERS RESIDENTS Many residents in Harrisdale and Piara Waters have contacted me regarding some concerns they have with the City of Armadale. Whilst we will continue to follow up these issues, I would also recommend that you register your attendance by Monday 19th of October and speak to the City about your concerns.

20.01.2022 This year has been incredibly difficult. COVID-19 created uncertainty, separated families and impacted the income of many workers and business owners. It meant that many who were already dealing with other challenges in their lives had added stress. ... It takes its toll. But by checking in with your mates who might be struggling, it may mean the world to them. No one likes to go it alone - and to know that you're in their corner can be incredibly moving. Today is R U OK Day - and I hope that it reminds us all to just send a message, or make that call today to check in with your friends and family who might be doing it tough. We should also take today to ask ourselves if we're doing okay. You might not be, and that is fine - but know that there is help out there. Please take care of yourselves. Things are going to get better, and there is always hope. 18.01.2022 40KM/H SPEED LIMIT OVER RANFORD RD BRIDGE - PLEASE SHARE I want to thank everyone again for their patience as we all adjust to the changes on Ranford Rd bridge as works begin to widen it from FOUR lanes to EIGHT lanes. I am working to address the lighting and lane merging queries that myself and Terry Healy MLA have been contacted about. But in the meantime I ask that everyone slow down and obey the new 40km/h speed limit in place while works progress.... This new speed limit will be in place until works are complete and will help keep everyone safe. Many local residents in Canning Vale and surrounds have contacted me personally about instances of speeding across the modified road layout. If you have family, friends or colleagues that use this bridge, please ask them to obey the speed limit.

12.01.2022 Jandakot, lets talk trash! The McGowan Government launched a campaign to encourage West Aussies to correctly sort their waste and unwanted items on Monday in an effort to reduce the volume of waste going to landfill. Weve come up with some GREAT steps to help you cut down on our wastage check them out below! ... Gifting (donating, selling or giving away clothing, toys and household goods) Recycling (the 'five': cans, paper, glass, cardboard and plastic) Earth-cycling (food scraps and garden waste into home compost or into FOGO bins) Avoiding (excess packaging, disposables such as coffee cups, and wasted food) Taking to drop-off (special waste such as batteries, chemicals, paint and e-waste). 12.01.2022 The regions need you! The McGowan Government is calling on all West Aussies looking for seasonal work to look to regional WA. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there is expected to be a large gap in the labour force for regional industries. There are many West Aussies who are looking for work, so we want to do our bit to match up those workers with these important roles and assist the many WA producers who are doing it tough. ... What a great opportunity to experience the outback and the beautiful pastoral regions of our great state!

12.01.2022 As you might have seen, on Sunday we announced that construction is underway on widening and lengthening the Ranford Road Bridge. On top of this, there will a shared use pathway on either side ... Good things take time. So I want to sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding during construction.

11.01.2022 Have you seen the new designs for the Ranford Road Station as part of the Thornlie to Cockburn Link? Initial surveying works are underway at the site (which is why there are hundreds of those white poly pipes sticking out of the ground on the side of Ranford Road). When completed, residents will be able to reach Perth City in under 30 minutes.

11.01.2022 There is no excuse for violence against women. Yet every 9 days one woman is killed by a man, and 1 in 6 women experience violence at the hands of their partner. Every single one of these experiences are a tragedy, and are completely avoidable. The annual 16 Days in WA Stop Violence Against Women campaign begun yesterday, and I’m inviting our community to take a part in this major effort to stop violence against women.... Join the 16 Days in WA movement and think about how you can educate, motivate and advocate in your community, and stand up to stop violence against women. Find out more at https://www.communities.wa.gov.au/projects/16-days-in-wa/

11.01.2022 THORNLIE-COCKBURN LINK UPDATE The Ranford Road Bridge is set for a major upgrade that will bust congestion, create WA jobs and future-proof an important part of our road network. As part of the METRONET Thornlie-Cockburn Link, we're taking the opportunity to upgrade the Ranford Road Bridge to cater for future growth, and to improve access to the new Ranford Road station.... Doing the upgrade now will prevent the need for costly, disruptive upgrades in coming years. 10.01.2022 We did it - Were delivering a noise reduction wall on Karel Avenue! 10.01.2022 Times have been incredibly hard for lots of Western Australian businesses and workers. As a former small business owner, I could see the impact the pandemic had on spending and our economy. But our quarantine measures, good hygiene practises and hard borders reduced the impact of the pandemic on Western Australia, and meant that our economy could reopen earlier than others. ... This was a collective effort by all Western Australians, and a result that we should all be proud of. Our efforts allowed us to continue to experience economic growth throughout the June 2019 to June 2020 period. States that didn't implement the same measures - especially our hard border - unfortunately didn't fare as well. There is still more work to be done, however - and we are doing it. The Mark McGowan Labor Government have a recovery plan for getting the WA economy back on track. To find out more about our plan, go to www.wa.gov.au/government/wa-recovery

06.01.2022 #flashbackfriday - One of my proudest moments as the Member for Jandakot was working with the community and Harrisdale Senior High School to introduce a Gifted and Talented Program to the school. The first intake in 2021 will involve up to 32 Year 7 students, and will ensure that our best and brightest dont have to travel too far to get to school. 04.01.2022 Did you know that Perth's annual rainfall has decreased by 20 percent over the last 50 years? This National Water Week's theme is "Reimagining our Water Future". All Western Australians should be mindful about how we use this precious and increasingly scarce resource and think about a future in which we better use this resource. Get involved and take action on water wastage! For more information, visit www.awa.asn.au/nww20

03.01.2022 Grants are now available for projects and innovative solutions to reduce e-waste! Yesterday, I joined Minister for Innovation Dave Kelly MP at Total Green Recycling in Canning Vale to announce the WasteSorted Grants e-waste 202021. Total Green Recycling is a local business that is benefiting from the emerging e-waste recycling industry. They've been operating in WA for the last 10 years now, and have reduced landfill and created local jobs - which is a huge win for our... community! Thanks to James and Michael Coghill for showing us their operation. By supporting emerging industries operating right here in Jandakot and Western Australia, myself and the Mark McGowan Labor Government are putting WA jobs first. What other innovative recycling industries would you support?

03.01.2022 It’s been a pleasure to take my experience in small business and my connection to Indian and apply it to the Parliamentary Economics and Industry Standing Committee’s work on our state’s unique trading relationship. In our ever changing and evolving global market, our work in WA Parliament can put Australian businesses in the best possible position to benefit from trade with India. It was a pleasure to catch up with the Indian Consul General Ms. Dantu Charandasi and my committee and WA Labor colleague Jessica Shaw MLA to discuss the report.

02.01.2022 #FlashbackFriday In October 2018 I joined Piara Waters Primary School students and teachers to announce the conversion of existing classrooms into dedicated science labs As a parent, I want my kids (and all Western Australian kids) to be prepared for the jobs of the future - because I know that a solid schooling in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) will prepare them better for the jobs of tomorrow. Canning Vale, Forrestdale, Piara Waters and Leemin...g Primary Schools all received funding to install the labs - with the final installations to be completed next year. This is just another way we're building a better future for Jandakot and WA kids!

01.01.2022 I am disappointed to hear that after the Piara Waters Junior Football Club year 7-8s Girls side has played an undefeated season, a scheduling clash with a major netball carnival this weekend may see the need for them to forfeit their grand final. I have raised this issue with the Minister for Sports and Recreation, and I hope that we can have a conversation with the WA Football Commission to ensure that the girls don't have to end such an exemplary season on a low note. Wom...en's AFL is one of the fastest growing sports in the country, and is seeing thousands of young women get involved in exercise and the camaraderie and community that surrounds a footy club. The last thing we need to be doing right now is placing barriers to participation. I hope I can be of further assistance on this matter, please feel free to contact me at www.yazmubarakai.com.au/contact/

01.01.2022 Thats a wrap on todays Community Cabinet! Thank you to all those who attended, as well as those who asked questions of the McGowan Government Ministers.
