25.01.2022 Brian Simmons(11) with 36 points won on CB from Steve Rumney(29) on Saturday. Conditions were heavy but the greens were ideal. Third with 35 points was Wayne Rowe(13) from fourth Mic Spagnolo(7) with 33. Fifth on CB was Kevin Coghlan(19) from Steve Wealands(17), Ken Whitfort(7) and Phil Armstrong(23) all on 32 points. 24.01.2022 Saturday saw the men come out to play with 26 members on course! With plenty of sunshine but plenty of wind, the conditions were improved since Wednesday but it was still fairly cold. Even so, there were some hot scores with the days winner with 39 points on CB being Jeff Aurisch(17) from second Sam Wright(22), third with 38 points was Chris Smith(24) followed by fourth Ken Whitfort(8) with 37 points and fifth Kevin Coghlan19) with 35 points. 23.01.2022 Seventeen men forming 8 teams played Ambrose on Wednesday. Winners of the 3 Person Event with 74 off the stick nett 65 were Brian Simmons(11), Martin Lowe(17) and Joel King(26). 23.01.2022 a huge thanks ....and congratulations to everyone who has played a part in presenting our course in such a fantastic way for today's return to golf! Well done everyone, take a bow! It was fun being first of the 1st today post the easing of Covid-19 restrictions. Pity about the quality of the golf game...but, it was great to be out there playing again! Well done to our two Club Captains and Committee for doing the hard yards preparing a system whereby we could be back out playing within 8 hours of restrictions being eased.



22.01.2022 17 Men and 4 Ladies played a Par Round in the second week of the Mini Gender Competition. Winner with Square was Jonathon Fisher(16) on CB from Ray Partridge(26). Third with -2 was Bill Dredge(20) from fourth Alan Pell(15) on CB from Phil Armstrong with -4. There was no NTP on the 11th and Norm McCallum won the Club Award on CB from Neil Ross. 21.01.2022 Saturday saw the official return of competition after the lockdown in regional Victoria. We hope that things keep improving so that we might be able to open the Clubrooms and start socialising with other members. With a limit of ten people we are unable to have presentations or dinners at this stage. The course looks wonderful and reflects the work of many volunteers around the Club. 21.01.2022 Wednesday golf saw 21 men play a Par round for competition. The weather was ideal and the course never better. Hamish Stares(29) with +4 - 94 off the stick, had his personal best score to win from second Brian Simmons(12) with +2 on CB from third Chris Smith(21). Fourth on CB also was Lachie Wischer(17) with +1 from Darcy Pell(25). 20.01.2022 Saturday saw the second round of the Barry Moore Trophy played at Royal Yea Golf Club. Leader of the first round Kevin Coghlan(19) was able to post 36 points and secure a 3 point win from second Wayne Rowe(13) who posted 35 points. 20.01.2022 15 men in ten teams played 4 Ball Best Ball on Wednesday with the team of Ray Partridge(26) and Bill Dredge(21) winning by 3 points with a total of 46. Second on CB was the team of Wayne Rowe(13) and new member Lachlan Wischer25) with 43 points. Individual Winner was Ray Partridge with 42 points from second Lachlan Wischer with 41, third with 38 was the consistent Brian Simmons(11). 19.01.2022 Wednesday saw some incredible golf at Yea and at Black Bull GC at Yarrawonga. Thirteen men played Stableford at Royal Yea with Neil Peterson(16) having 76 off the stick and an amazing 44 points to narrowly win from playing partner Peter Johnston(18) with 43 points! 19.01.2022 Wednesday saw 20 men play a Stableford Round with local Bendigo Branch Manager Matthew Spurgeon(36) scoring 40 points to win on CB from Mic Spagnolo(9) second. Mic had 75 off the stick. Third was Darcy Pell(25) with 39 points from fourth Brian Simmons(11) and fifth Gary Pollard(12) with 36 on CB. 19.01.2022 Wednesday saw the final round of the mini Gender Competition with Adrianne Anglin(15) securing the days win with 74 nett, winning on CB from Mic Spagnolo(8) and Martin Lowe(17). 18.01.2022 Due to the lockdown and some important events being missed, I am announcing some adjustments for the mens golf program for June and July. Firstly the Mens and the Mixed Foursomes will know be on the 20th of June. The second stableford round of the Barry Moore Trophy will be played on the 11th of July. 17.01.2022 Today is not a good day for our members sadly we have lost one of our treasured gems. Our beautiful supportive and a most generous lady Kath McCraken has passed away this week. Our deepest condolences to her family, friends and fellow golfers. Kath was one of our life members and also a past Lady President and Lady Captain having won both C and B Grade Championships. 17.01.2022 Twenty six players and fourteen teams played Pair 22 Stableford at Royal Yea on Saturday. Pair 22 involves pairing Stableford Scores achieved on each hole to produce a combined score. Scored ranged from 00, 01, 02, 03, 11, 12, 13, 22, 32, 33, 42, 43 on each hole. Winners by 4 points with 376 were Terry Chaplain(22) and Michael Sheather(43). 14.01.2022 The first round of the Prideaux Cup was played on a sunny but slightly windy Saturday at Royal Yea Golf Course. We had 27 in the field with Sue Aurisch joining the boys for a hit. 12.01.2022 Strathbogie GC Fourteen members travelled to Strathbogie GC on Saturday to play Stableford with the locals. All enjoyed warm hospitality including a lovely afternoon tea. Best for Yea was Cheryl Roberts(31) with 39 points. Ivor Brayley and Carl Maffei had 36, Dors Lehmann 34, Jeff Aurisch, Greg and Vicki Clements all with 33. 11.01.2022 Life on the Golf course is to say the least a wee bit challenging these days. Winter has really made it's mark with only the super keen golfers up for the challenge. Sadly the girls have to report that they weren't quite up to the task to take out the Winter Gender Challenge. 11.01.2022 Saturday saw the Foursomes Championships for Men and Mixed Teams plus an individual Stableford Competition for those not in foursomes. Foursomes involves hitting one ball between two players with one person hitting first off the odd numbered holes and the other player hitting off on the even numbered holes. 05.01.2022 Thirty players contested a 3 Person Ambrose at Royal Yea on Wednesday. Golf was followed by lunch and Kris Kringle in the Clubrooms. 05.01.2022 Seventeen players made up 10 teams for the Pair 22 - Stableford Event on Wednesday. Scoring points per hole each pair can receive whatever their Stableford score combined. It is possible to score 00,01,02,03,04,11,12,13,14,22,32,33,34,42,43 or 44 per hole. Obviously if both players score 2 points per hole then 18x22 = 396 score. 04.01.2022 Saturday saw 41 golfers contest the inaugural Yea Spring 4 Ball and Individual Stableford Event at Royal Yea. Conditions were ideal and scores reflected this. 02.01.2022 Along with the sunshine interest in golf increases two fold. Wednesday 29th July 13 girls came out to not only enjoy the sunshine but chase that little white ball around hoping to take home the money. Just for some difference, not only a winner for 18 holes but the 9 hole ladies also had a competition happening. As if that wasn't enough to top it off another novelty game for the day. 02.01.2022 There were 19 men at Royal Yea Saturday to contest the Monthly Medal. The sun had forgotten to shine for a couple of days and the foggy mist enabled many golfers to hit the ball out of sight! Scores were not great in the wetish conditions but half the field were within 3 shots of each other. Winner on CB was Bill Dredge(20 with a nett 75 from Alan Pell(15). 01.01.2022 In the third round of the Gender Challenge Stableford, the ladies narrowed the winning margin taking 50 of the 85 points available. Winner of the day and the men was Jeff Aurisch(18) with 39 points. Second and Ladies Winner was Reggie Bell(33} on CB from Vicki Clements(22) third.
