25.01.2022 This year has been tough .... real tough and We are actually living in an area where we are super lucky to still have the freedom to leave our house and live a (semi) normal life Our restrictions (in QLD) did not last long, however the affects on business have!!! Not only did we close for 5 months but it is still only running at 30% capacity ... Soooooooo what do you do to still deliver educational wildlife talks and share your passion GO VIRTUAL!! This is my little studio I have set up so I can ZOOM into the world and film the rest of my Virtual Classroom modules with Australian Wildlife Education which I started working on in 2019 Looks like this year certainly collapsed time and Brought forward my Project which is super exciting Hope you all are ok, sending you lots of love and courage Jodie xx

23.01.2022 Thank you so much to these beautiful girls who I had the pleasure of spending time with on Monday night... As part of their girl guides they had to donate towards or help out our wildlife and those choose me to come in and do a talk. ... We spoke about the bush fires, pollution, rubbish and plastic in our oceans and chemicals we use at home. I also shared with them an up close wildlife experience with Chip our Sugar glider, Freddy our Bearded Dragon and Rocco our Olive python... . In return they all brought in some fruit and veggies to put towards feeding our animals! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

20.01.2022 WARNING It’s that time of year again when we see a lot of media and social posts about Crocodiles, Bats and Snakes There is no doubt or question that these animals may trigger fear in you.... ... .... of course as potentially they can cause serious harm or death Therefore my message to you is this..... ..... please don’t be STUPID!!! If you see a crocodile warning sign - STAY OUT OF THE WATER and do not approach the edge If you see a bat injured or needing care then CALL wildlife rescue - 4053 4467 or 4281 6869 please never handle a Bat or flying fox unless you are vaccinated and know what you are doing Snakes think you are a predator and will do everything they can to protect themselves.... DO NOT CATCH or try to KILL a snake! They will bite you and move faster then your shovel or the thing you are trying to trap them with ..... .... again call a snake removalist who will keep you and the animal in one piece 0408331700 or 0467473883 And ALWAYS carry snake bandages on your hikes or camping trips Living in North Queensland is a nature lovers dream.... ..... enjoy the wildlife experiences safely and with common sense Please don’t put yourself on the front page of the paper for being stupid and harming yourself!! Take care and enjoy our natural world

19.01.2022 Lots of birthday party fun This little man was so connected with our wildlife that he inspected every inch of the animals.... .... his curiosity was inspiring and a great reminder of why I love education

19.01.2022 No words needed here. Ill leave you with this thought to ponder

19.01.2022 Freddy and I hanging out in the sun today getting our much needed Vitamin D Not only is it important to Freddy for energy but us too..... ..... which at the same times helps us to connect with Mother Nature

18.01.2022 Being able to have an up close experience with Wildlife not only sparks curiosity in a child or adult but it EDUCATES.. .. Education is the Key to Conservation and without understanding how an animal moves, what it eats, the role it plays in the environment, how it protects itself and other interesting facts, then we just wont care!!!!... If we dont care then why would we want to protect and learn more about our wildlife and their habitats. Lets learn how to live amongst Nature not AGAINST IT!!!!

18.01.2022 Contact us today for a private talk with your favourite friends .... .... you can even request what wildlife guests you want to have come along

18.01.2022 I have been nominated for this years Education Cassowary Award which is happening tomorrow night I’m absolutely honoured with 21 years in North QLD educating people about the Wet Tropics and Australian Wildlife Wish me luck and thank you to Wet Tropics World Heritage Area

13.01.2022 Which one is the real one? Love talking about Structural features and adaptations..... . Here we have 3 lizards however they are SO DIFFERENT in their structures and ways of protecting themselves from predators The way our wildlife are designed keeps me curious enough that I could live in my own little research hut for ever Mental note . Build a research hut !!!

13.01.2022 How cool is this fella .... looks like he even kept some left over lunch for later in his feathers Matt Cornish Australian Wildlife Education

12.01.2022 WHO LOVES BIRDS ... One thing I love doing within my Wildlife shows is to use resources to complement what we are talking about. ... When it comes to Birds, we chat about the different sizes, colours and can they fly? I also get the kids to sit and close their eyes, as this helps to demonstrate how many bird noises they can hear and therefore do not only rely on sight to find birds ... ... Nature needs to be experienced by using all of our senses ... Smell, Sight, hearing and touch

12.01.2022 Hello there Squirt our Freshwater turtle is growing up so fast and is always the kids favourites when we visit school groups and kindergartens ... This little fella is a master at staying under the water for some time and can actually.. .. Wait for it BREATH THROUGH HIS BUTT!!!!!! More explanation on this another time! Aussie Macro Photos #bottombreather #moderneducation #wildlifeshows #reptiles #freshwaterturtle #educationforconservation #aussiewildlifeeducation #upclose

12.01.2022 Bruce wasnt up for visitors today .... too snoozy to say hi to the school kids Bruce is a rufous bettong and visits schools to help talk about life and living , adaptations, classifications and endangered species This fella is a mammal , infact a marsupial mammal so when he was born he was about the size of your finger nail tiny and under developed ... 11.01.2022 DONT FORGET ....... first week school holidays .... due to requirements by shopping centre you MUST BOOK your time slot in with Mt Sheridan Plaza

11.01.2022 INCURSIONS ARE BACK .. Zoo to You are very excited that we are back in the classrooms again ... I love talking about Ebony, our Black-headed Python, especially when we speak about Adaptations. You can see here her pattern which helps her to camouflage in with the sand, dirt and chunks of rock. Her pattern helps break up the body so an animal like a bird of prey flying above cant quite make her out to be potential food .. Cant get us into the classroom? Then why not have us Zoomed to you! Get in contact today!

10.01.2022 Hahaha anybody else feel like this with a double shot coffee

09.01.2022 I WON The cassowary Award for Education This is such a great honour to be recognised in North Queensland and the Wet Tropics for my many many years in Wildlife Education Can not explain how excited and proud I am ... Wet Tropics World Heritage Area Tropic Now

09.01.2022 One of the most amazing things to see is a Crocodile in the wild Recently Andre and I did a talk at a local shopping centre here in Cairns and we covered Crocodile Safety We were amazed at how many people in our audience (99.9% locals) still did not understand that they can not see a crocodile coming towards them ... And ..... they didn’t know how to find out if Crocodiles live in a particular water way Crocodile signs are important to keep an eye out for , if you see one then somewhere a Crocodile is But remember , they are perfectly designed to not be seen, especially while sneaking up on their prey Stay safe in Croc territory .... don’t swim stay 3-4 metres back from the waters edge don’t become complacent or believe the croc is removed therefore safe (nope a new one will move in) or you used to swim there as a kid so it’s ok (nope) never fish or leave your crab pot in the same area day after day or leave your fish guts around boating ramps (that’s a disaster waiting to happen) We need our Crocs for the health and balance of our river systems which feed into our oceans and reef - its all connects and a fine balance Stay safe - it’s YOUR responsibility

09.01.2022 Episode 2 of our Wild chats podcast is released ... .... Brett is a wildlife Educator at the AMAZING Cairns Aquarium and will be our special guest not only once but numerous times to chat about his love of the reef .... get your cuppa ready and enjoy the following Wild Chats ... 07.01.2022 Today is threatened species day and I want to shine light of this fella .... .... the Southern Cassowary Here in Australia it is an amazing sight to see this giant walking around our Tropical Rainforest... Cassowaries eat fruits whole, dispersing the seeds around by pooing out a nice sloshy compost .... if we ever lost the cassowary, ecologists believe we will loose over 150 different species of trees Our Wet Tropics Rainforest relies on our cassowary for its health and survival Australian Wildlife Education - Matt Cornish

03.01.2022 Thank you so much Jasmine for having Zoo to You!

03.01.2022 No words needed here Source unknown - owner pm me for tagging

02.01.2022 This is Ebony, our Black-headed Python ... ... When we do our wildlife talks we make sure we have all teachers and parents non reactive, as children learn by watching.... If adults are running away, or speaking out loud their fears then all of a sudden the kids react with fear. I always like to be given the time at the start of our snake talk to talk about safety and how our bodies feel when we see a snake... ... Its so important that kids understand that its ok to be scared, but how you choose to react in the moment is important for your own safety. Dont run, Dont chase the snake away, Dont throw anything at him and DONT try to catch it... ... WE FREEZE!!!!!! Take a deep breath and allow yourself time to think what to do as well as allow time for the snake to keep on moving by.

02.01.2022 Im always inspired by people who make a stand For what they believe needs to be voiced, especially for Saltwater Crocodiles and their importance to our ecosystems as a whole. This of course not only applies to nature ... but life In general!!!..... .... I love how animals can teach us something about our own world! ... Crocodiles have been on this earth much much longer then humans ..... .... pretty sure they can teach us a thing or two about adapting, boundaries and evolution Thanks David you my friend are an asset to Wildlife Education Solar Whisper Daintree River Crocodile & Wildlife Cruises
