24.01.2022 It is sad news to report that our well-loved leader - Dennis Clarke passed away over the weekend. A Cub Leader for many years, Dennis joined Scouting as a leader in 1991 serving at the Peakhurst, 2nd Mortdale and finally at Kingsford Smith Scout Group. Apart from giving his time for Scouts, he volunteered at Maroubra Nippers as well as an event First Aider at community level football. Dennis will be fondly remembered for being an enthusiastic leader focused on the youth and providing great programmes. He was an experienced leader having also attended four Jamborees and five NSW Cuborees in various roles. Our condolences go out to his family for their loss. He will be greatly missed by Kingsford Smith Cubs and by the wider Scouting community. Thank you, Dennis, for being part of our Group.

22.01.2022 After a gap of too many years, Kingsford Smith Scouts and 3/4 Kensington Scouts at last had a combined Scout night of Trading Post. A great activity instilling the principles of trading with a Scouting theme.

21.01.2022 Congratulations go to three of our leaders from Kingsford Smith Scout Group for receiving Adult Recognition Awards announced at the recent World Scout Day - August 1st. Bravooo goes firstly to Phil 'Skip' McLeod - Scout Leader for receiving the Silver Wattle. This is awarded for outstanding service to Scouts Australia as an Adult Member in an active Leadership role, for a period over 15 years. The second award is posthumously granted to Dennis Clarke - Assistant Cub Scout Le...ader. Dennis was awarded the Silver Koala. An award for distinguished service to Scouts Australia as an Adult Member in an active Leadership role, for a period of around 20 years. Lastly, well done to Steve Villiers - Assistant Cub Scout Leader for receiving a Special Service Award. This is awarded to Young Adult Members, Adult Members and Supporters for the successful support, development or management of a Section or Formation. 15.01.2022 Kingsford Smith Scout Group attends the 2021 Mascot and Botany RSL sub-branch pre- ANZAC march to Mascot Memorial Park. It was pleasing to support our veterans in the march today.

13.01.2022 The Troop learned about navigation particularly the importance of knowing about contours through the building of 3D landscapes. Sheets of polystyrene were cut with hand held hot wire cutters to create individual landscape profiles. It took some time to get everything together. We will show the Cubs and get them to reverse engineer by creating a topographical maps.

13.01.2022 Well done to our own Michele Murray for receiving a Volunteering award. (Apologies from admin... can’t seem to share original post) I was honoured to be nominated for the NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards Southern District, the ceremony was last Friday at The Tradies Club in Gymea, a lot of people from various charity groups were nominated for Young volunteer, Adult volunteer, Senior volunteer and volunteer Team. I didn't expect to win but did receive a certificate and enjoyed the company and a lovely afternoon tea afterwards. ... BRAVOOO Michelle

12.01.2022 It was great to have NSW SES Randwick Unit drop in and show off their gear an explain how they serve the community.

09.01.2022 This years pre-ANZAC Day March with the local Mascot Botany sib-branch was held on a clear and dry day. COVID restrictions limit the attendance but not the importance of the commemoration.

06.01.2022 Another weekend over. This time South Metropolitan Region Environment Camp at Camp Coutts - theme was Fire. Interesting activities, excellent food, fine weather and new friends.

05.01.2022 Just encase you thought Kingsford Smith Scout Group was dormant for the last several months, it's definitely not the case. Scouting has been happening... just a bit differently. A bit late but well done to our Cubs for helping out.

04.01.2022 Boree Regatta 2019. The troop had a successful weekend participating in all activities. We even came second in flag pole challenge - giddy up.

01.01.2022 In memory of the recently departed Kingsford Smith Leader - Dennis Clarke, the group dedicated a plaque and planted a tree in his honour. A wreath of decorated stones lay at the base. Scouting and his beloved Rabbitohs were the recurring themes painted by the youth.

01.01.2022 Another successful Father Scout night. The Troop Council decided a cooking theme for the activity. Patrols made San Choy Bow, cooked individually on their own single log fire. Holes were pre drilled with a 3/4 bit. Small screws were put in on top to rest the fire pan on. Although we used a hardwood which made lighting and staying light a bit more challenging the logs were successful. Pine logs also make excellent fire logs. The rain that came pouring down midway only made the night more Scouting!
