21.01.2022 Theres no doubt that ANZAC Day 2020 will be different to how we traditionally commemorate. While we cannot gather at services and marches, we can be together in spirit. By standing at the end of your driveway, in your living room, or on your balcony at 6am on ANZAC Day, we can be united in the ANZAC spirit to remember all those who served and sacrificed. How to Hold Your ANZAC Day Service at Home... Our friends and colleagues at RSL Queensland have provided a digital recording of the Dawn Service. At 6am on ANZAC Day, you can visit the rslanzacspirit.com.au web page and play the service. The ABC will also be broadcasting a Dawn Service at 5:30am You will be able to live stream this service via the RSL NSW Facebook page, or you can download the ANZACs Application onto your phone: iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/app/id1508625222 Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rrm.anzac The most important thing is that we acknowledge ANZAC Day, and stand, pause and remember all those who served and sacrificed. Some people may choose to hold candles, or lay wreaths on their driveways. For others, it may be a few minutes of contemplative silence. Order of Service for 10am Service Later in the day, RSL NSW will also be live streaming a 10am closed service from Sydney. Like RSL NSW on Facebook to ensure you catch it. Download the full order of service for the NSW ANZAC Day service here. Welcome and Acknowledge of Country The Last to Leave by Leon Gellert Commemorative Address Wreath Laying Ceremony The Ode The Last Post One minutes silence Reveille New Zealand national anthem Australian national anthem Please join us and the rest of Australia and #lightupthedawn this ANZAC Day.

17.01.2022 Show Your ANZAC Spirit When times are tough, Australians have always relied on the distinctive qualities of mateship, humour, ingenuity, courage and endurance to get us through. Known as the ANZAC Spirit, these five qualities have defined Australians ever since the first troops landed on the beaches of Gallipoli in World War I. In the current climate, were reminding Australians that we all bear these qualities within us, ready to come to the fore when we need them.

10.01.2022 RSL State Branch President Update 16 March 2020 Dear Members,... Following further discussions with the NSW Government, RSL NSW has made the decision to cancel all public ANZAC Day commemoration services across the state. The risk to vulnerable people during the current health situation is simply too high for these events to continue in their traditional format. Given the significant concerns around the spread of COVID-19, it would be irresponsible to allow such large gatherings as we see each year on ANZAC Day to go ahead. This is not a decision we have taken lightly. The RSL has a responsibility to act in the best interests of veterans and the general public. In these uncertain times we must follow the advice of medical experts and do everything we can to protect the community. This is a recognition of the penalties linked to events over 500 people, and the potential exposure to RSL sub-Branches. This acknowledges the fact that most ANZAC Day events are open to all members of the community and therefore have the potential to attract crowds of over 500 people. ANZAC Day as a marker of our respect and admiration for ANZACs past and present will still be observed. Exactly what form this will take will be different from previous years, but as custodians of commemoration, the RSL will still honour the service and sacrifice of our brave servicemen and women. In these challenging times, we will remember them. We will provide further updates on other ANZAC Day related activities including fundraising in the coming days. Yours, Ray James Acting President

10.01.2022 Letter from Brigadier Bond - A/Commander Second Division Soldiers of the Second Division, ANZAC Day. I am keen to connect us all on the most important day in our Nations calendar. This is a unique ANZAC Day for us, with well over 1 000 soldiers from our Division currently serving our nation on Operation COVID-19 Assist and eight other operations around the world. Protecting Australians from pandemic harm; Defending Australias interests.... A privilege to serve our Nation on any day; an honour on this day. On Saturday I commend you to hold a commemorative service in your own front yard or driveway, perhaps a gunfire breakfast. Put some rum in your coffee if you must, and get out there. Feel free to proudly wear your uniform if you would like to, certainly your medals. Im asking you to hashtag photos from your own ANZAC Day Home Services: #2DIVANZAC and #StandAtDawn. (Photos of course adhering to the not drinking in uniform and social distancing requirements as we continue to set the strongest community example). I cant wait to see your photos from around the country. This is another opportunity for you to engage with your Army mates. Help us to make this day one where all our personnel feel connected, not isolated, and united in remembering the ANZAC sacrifice. I encourage you to take the opportunity to reflect, recall and remember all those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom and future we possess. Lest we forget. Brigadier M. Bond, CSC and Bar A/Commander Second Division.

08.01.2022 How You Can Commemorate ANZAC Day 2020 Theres no doubt that ANZAC Day 2020 will be very different to ANZAC Days of previous years. While we will not be gathering at services or marches, there are still ways to acknowledge ANZAC Day and ensure Australian servicemen and women are appropriately remembered. 1. Record yourself reciting the ode or sharing a message of support for veterans. Respond Going to our ANZAC Day 2020 Facebook event. Then use the hashtag #ANZACSpirit and... share how youll be commemorating privately, as well as who youll be remembering this ANZAC Day. 2. Light up the dawn. At 6am on ANZAC Day, go to the end of your driveway or stand on your balcony and listen to a brief commemorative service. Together even while apart well remember those who served and sacrificed. You can sign the pledge to light up the dawn at rslanzacspirit.com.au 3. Tune into live services and virtual commemorative services. The ABC will be broadcasting a 5.30am service from the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. There will also be a 10am service from the Anzac Memorial in Sydney that will be broadcast on ABC and streamed live. 4. Reach out to a mate who might be alone. Many people are alone during this time of isolation. Its an opportunity to invoke the ANZAC value of mateship and check to see how a mate is doing. 5. Donate to the ANZAC Appeal online at anzacappeal.com.au. Donations support Australian veterans and their families in need. Donations in New South Wales support services provided by RSL DefenceCare and Veteran Sport Australia.
