24.01.2022 ALDI ELEVATED DOG BED WARNING! Warning to pet owners who have purchased a Aldi Elevated Dog Bed, that there is a POTENTIAL hazard for dogs or puppies who ch...ew. The top mat part of the bed can break off into sharp pieces which can perforate the stomach and bowel. From a follower: I bought a dog bed at ALDI. There is nothing on the box or instructions saying that if your puppy/dog chews on it then the material can break into sharp shards etc or that the material is dangerous. Yesterday afternoon little Harley (my puppy) decided to have a chew on one corner. Not much, just a bit of a chew. Throughout the night he had diarrhea and I kept an eye on him, not realising it could be the consequence of chewing on his bed. This morning blood was flowing from Harleys lil butt. I raced him to the vet where they did x-rays and was then transferred to WAVES, which is a specialist vet here in Perth. After ultrasounds and blood tests etc it was found that the pieces of bedding material break into sharp shards and have scraped all inside Harleys stomach. At the moment he is on medications to heal his insides and I have to keep a very close eye on him for the next few days in case he starts getting worse. If he does he will have to have operations to fix any perforations, tears or obstructions as these shards may not pass through his intestines without further damage.
