25.01.2022 Driveway at dawn: ANZAC Day 2020.

24.01.2022 Moo (Shooting the Moon) and Adele on an autumn eve...

23.01.2022 Broodmares on the perennials in House Paddock

22.01.2022 A memory provided by Jenny Dickinson from 2017...when Cuffy was younger and Scott Lawrence had piloted him to a win in the barrels, and a second in the top cut out at the Esperance Show...and he had allowed me to complete three dressage tests while motorbikes whizzed over head. This year's show wasn't quite so much about Cuffy and more about the babies...

22.01.2022 Looking forward to reading this.

22.01.2022 Welcome to the newest member of the clan: Marlin, by Qualia Cufflink out of Cunnamore Calibre. Full sibling to Ranger and Europa...mother and child well, time being wasted watching them from the window!

21.01.2022 We have been so keen to share this pic, with parental permission. Winner of the Judge's Choice award in the Working Stockhorse Section at the Esperance Show 2021, a class sponsored by the Henderson Family (that's us!): so excited to see Fabianne Govans, riding the wonderful Y Concent, presented with the prize by judge Roger Shepardson, with David Henderson on hand to congratulate the winner. Well deserved recognition of determination and skill displayed by the youngest competitor in the classes. Thank you to Guy Bennie and the show committee and equestrian volunteers for giving us all a chance to participate with our horses.

21.01.2022 Going through some old pics, and look what I found. Mungi Campdraft, 2014.

21.01.2022 Rhys Morrissey and others, the role of the horse in policing...

20.01.2022 One of the things I love about the Washington Post...the "Photographs of the Week"...scroll through them to find the two that are relevant to this page!

19.01.2022 "No one can ignore a black woman on a horse..."

19.01.2022 Someone is in a very good paddock...with his girls..

18.01.2022 Molly and her babies, Itsy Bitsy (bay two year old) and Aragog (chesnut yearling).

14.01.2022 So nice to see people enjoying the ponies after they leave home: thank you to Bianca Sharman for putting in the hard work and encouraging Panda-Po (Braveheart) to shine!

14.01.2022 Mako enjoying a snack...life is hard during your spring holidays...

13.01.2022 Sultan (Baerlochan Shooting the Moon {Tinagroo Winchester-Easterly}-Escholar Eva {Nonda Spider in the Swag-Munglinup Maree}. Proud surveyor of his foal-sized domain. When he trots, he floats like a butterfly....

13.01.2022 another aspect of the Covid-19 story.

12.01.2022 So Cuffy is doing the Bush Heritage Groundwork Challenge (with a person in tow). Has been a bit slack about entering mileage, and writing a blog, but its hard to do these things with a hoof!

12.01.2022 ...we are all missing getting our horses out and about, but this is an important time for us to stay at home...enjoy some reflection and indulge in some planning...

11.01.2022 Came across this today...from nearly three years ago when Cuffy and I were coming to terms with the new reality (and there was a rumour that someone with much longer legs had possession of my therapy pony! ).

10.01.2022 Mako the non-ASH Light Horse substitute had to step up to the plate for an 10th Light Horse Esperance Troop training day last weekend....and considering the amount of work he had, was a true officer's mount!

09.01.2022 Siblings catching up at a Anne Battley clinic in Esperance...no social distancing enforced! Baerlochan Scimatar (Lala) and Baerlochan Raider catch up on the gossip after months apart.

09.01.2022 ...no question in my mind that we need them more than they need us! The healing power of the horse...

08.01.2022 Sharing for no reason at all, other than the fact that it makes me smile and motivates me to ride....to music...and become a pirate (where has the rum gone?)..

08.01.2022 Always had a soft spot for these magnificent horses; maybe we could diversity a bit? https://www.abc.net.au//saving-the-rare-working-d/11800578

07.01.2022 I should have asked Mareeka Coward before I shared this, but I couldn't resist! To be awarded the Judge's Prize by Karen Mori...a stock horse person special moment!

07.01.2022 I really try to avoid politics on this page....but you have got to love this vision of Biden voters in Nevada....the wonderful quirkiness of the USA!

06.01.2022 Checking the water tanks, with Itsy and Mako in tow...

06.01.2022 Adele (Baerlochan Parisienne {Qualia Cufflink-Auchentek Lass}), supposedly in foal to Baerlochan Shooting the Moon (Tinagroo Winchester-Easterly)...but her figure is no worse than that of any of the non-pregnant horses. So much feed, everyone looks like they are in foal!

06.01.2022 Taking into account the variabilities of nature, and breeding, it may or may not have been an exciting day at the zoo yesterday: Paris and Cuffy may be grandparents, and Moo, our precious Tinagroo Winchester-Easterly boy may be a father for the first time. Bit early to crack open the champagne bottle but we are working on making the plans a reality, Ally Henderson!

05.01.2022 Five years ago today, while our region was ablaze and we were learning of the tragedies unfolding nearby, one of our ASH broodmares was about to foal. At about 10pm, when the ferocious winds that had done so much damage, died just for a while, Tullie produced a precious dusky dark brown foal, Smokey. A foaling date that will never be forgotten, and a constant reminder that even in the worst of times, on the worst of days, there are precious moments to be treasured.

02.01.2022 A week ago, and only days old, he was fast...now he is twisting and turning like a supreme athlete. Will he be a jumper like his Auntie Sugar, or a Light Horse trooper like his brother Ranger, or a cow pony like his other brothers and sisters? Who knows where those little legs will take him!

02.01.2022 ...reading about horse genetics sometimes provides some fascinating stories....Seabiscuit's hooves and "late blooming" racehorses...

01.01.2022 A special horse for sale, with qualities that are beyond monetary value, really. I would find it hard to put a price on Cuffy...and this mare is equally precious!

01.01.2022 For some bizarre reason this morning I spent some time contemplating the stresses put on horses legs when they gallop (perhaps because my heart is always in my mouth when I watch them twist and spin on slippery ground in the paddock). As Richie says, unnneccesary music, but great footage regardless.
