24.01.2022 Dear Open Weave enthusiasts, The organisers of Open Weave are sad to advise that they have made the very difficult decision to postpone Open Weave due to the c...urrent COVID restrictions in South East Queensland. They have assessed the risk of going ahead with the project as planned , in particular holding the opening and closing events, and have concluded the risk to participants, audiences and our community are just too great at this time. On a brighter note, we are now planning to reschedule the project to February next year. We are very excited about the quality and diversity of artworks we have been offered for exhibition as well as the activities planned throughout the project. We very much hope you can remain interested in Open Weave, at this stage we are thinking of late February 2021. We are confident the work we have already done will allow us to put together a fabulous project in hopefully less anxious times. Many thanks for your interest. For those who have booked a place on the boat trip, we will be in touch when we have new confirmed dates.

Below is a list of more than 20 groups and activities you can join, when and where they meet and who to contact to find out more. I will be adding as I find them, so please check back in a while for the comprehensive list. Apologies if I get any of the info wrong, and please feel free to correct me. If you have any to add please make a comment below with a similar format. LETS GET TOGETHER!

24.01.2022 When you are rushing about on the island to get those 8km asap, please be mindful there are multiple clutches of baby birds around at the moment. I have seen 2 lots of ducklings on Fern Tce and one on Canaipa Rd. So maybe leave a few minutes early and do some bird watching on the way.

20.01.2022 We are painting the RI primary school playground today til 1:30. Can anyone please come lend a hand? We have to finish by Monday and so far only finished 2 out of 6 colours. Cheers Jo, Meg and Nev

19.01.2022 From Russell Island State School P&C "Hi everyone this is a shout out for volunteers to help us this coming Saturday (23rd). We are getting some new soft fall for the playground area and we need to dig out the old bark. John Wickstead is bringing in his Dingo but we need people manning some shovels - all help will be much appreciated. Thank you." I suggest you call the school for more info.

13.01.2022 While we are on the subject of ephemeral art, Mudlines group is meeting again on. "So far it is looking like Thursday April 25 for our next Mudlines excursion. For those on the island and those interested, we could also squeeze in another day which we can discuss later. But if we could get a general consensus on the Thursday, that would be great. There is a ferry that departs Redland Bay marina at 9am. We can do a pick up at 9.30 from Russell Island jetty. Another ferry lea...ves Redland Bay at 9.40, arriving 10am. We can also meet that one. 07.01.2022 Well the poor lady sure got around. Wishing her a full and speedy recovery. I have heard many people queuing for a test are not wearing masks or social distancing! Seriously people, how hard is it to figure out 2 arms lengths?

07.01.2022 This is a bit late for the opening, which had a great turnout, but this is on for a couple more weeks and it's a really great collection of work by artists of all ages and skill levels.
