15.01.2022 Cardiac first for hospital. As reported in today's Bunbury Mail the states first ever regional coronary care unit will open this month at the SW Health Campus. "The state-of-the-art eight bed unit will be complemented by a cardiac angiography suite and dedicated ambulance entrance. The facility is one part of a $35.9 million redevelopment of St John of God Bunbury Hospital which will also include a comprehensive cancer center and an expanded renal dialysis unit." As stated by Bunbury Chamber President Steve Down when he launched the Chambers 'Now's the Time to Secure Bunbury's Future' campaign, the metro standard health facilities was one of the many compelling reasons why moving a government department to Bunbury was such a logical decision.

14.01.2022 Pat Williams supports 'Now's The Time' to commit to relocate a State Government department from Perth to Bunbury.

14.01.2022 Government departments to move to Joondalup State Government searches for 10,000sqm of office space Government on track to save $25million a year in office accommodation Finance Minister Simon O’Brien today confirmed plans to decentralise and relocate about 10,000sqm of State Government office space to Joondalup. Under the plans, more than 600 staff will be relocated in the State Government’s drive to achieve significant savings in its office accommodation costs. ... In the next few months, the Department of Finance will be working with agencies to confirm their needs and an expression of interest will then be put to the market, Mr O’Brien said. It is part of the Government’s Office Accommodation Master Plan which began in 2010. So far, under the first stage of the plan, close to 5,000 public servants from 18 locations and 23 agencies have been consolidated into office accommodation in Perth, West Perth, East Perth and Osborne Park. With the announcement of Joondalup, the Government is actively advancing its plan to decentralise office accommodation from the Perth central business district. Other metropolitan locations announced in June by the Minister are Stirling, Murdoch and Fremantle. Perth’s CBD office market remains extremely tight, and there is an opportunity for Government to achieve significant savings through the decentralisation and consolidation of office accommodation, Mr O’Brien said. However, it is more than just savings - it will also result in improved public access to Government services, and decentralisation will help stimulate economic and social activity at metropolitan locations. 13.01.2022 This is an excellent example of what is being done 'NOW' using existing infrastructure and technology that supports the efficient and effective ways to decentralise government services. It was an amazing statement by a senior government minister at a recent Regional Chambers meeting at Parliament House, who said he needed to be able to speak with his senior departmental bureaucrats in the corridors of Parliament House (face to face) and this is why we were dreaming if we expected a full government department to be moved out of Perth to Bunbury. What do you think?

06.01.2022 McGowan reaffirms commitment to moving department to Bunbury WA Labor Leader Mark McGowan today reaffirmed his commitment to relocating the Department of Regional Development and Lands to Bunbury. Mr McGowan said the move would result in a massive economic boost to the South West and provide more jobs throughout the region. Its disappointing that despite the economic benefits and employment opportunities that relocating government departments would deliver to regional WA, t...he Barnett-Grylls Government has refused to actually commit to relocating a department to Bunbury, Mr McGowan said. Bunbury has the capacity to support a government department and the Barnett-Grylls Government and Local Member John Castrilli are simply making excuses about how it cannot be done after failing to deliver on their commitment to turn Bunbury into WAs second city. The Liberal Partys own 2008 election policy document said it has a real plan for Bunbury covering the vital areas of education, transport, police and community services, sport and recreation, planning and health. Four years later its saying Bunbury doesnt have the housing, education, social and health facilities required to cope with the relocation of a government agency. What has the Barnett-Grylls Government been doing for the past four years? The Premier has said he didnt think it was appropriate to relocate a government department to Bunbury and the biggest constraint for Bunbury is the lack of a Greater Bunbury local government. He is focusing on forced amalgamations instead of creating jobs in the regions. www.markmcgowan.com.au Media Release 31 October 2012 The Barnett-Grylls Government cannot be trusted to deliver on its plan for Bunbury to become the States second capital city and its negative attitude towards relocating a government department proves this. Mr McGowan said Shadow Deputy Leader Roger Cook would travel to Bunbury to look at suitable sites for the department relocation. Mr Cook hopes to meet with the Bunbury City Council and the Bunbury Chamber of Commerce and Industries to discuss WA Labors plans, he said. I have great confidence in Bunbury meeting the requirements for these facilities. Stronger regions mean a stronger WA. WA Labor also plans to relocate the Department of Local Government to Albany if it is successful at the State election in March 2013.
