18.01.2022 Well done Don Wilson for your awesome efforts against waste and single use plastic, recognised by Willoughby City Council this year as Environmental Citizen of the Year. Don has been a staunch supporter of Bye-Bye Plastic from the beginning, before launching his own initatives Get Fitter With Litter and more recently Adopt a Street.

17.01.2022 We all buy things online, even more since COVID19 and are awash in plastic packaging. This initiative begun by Flora & Fauna #takeitback asks businesses to rethink their packaging materials and for consumers to speak out against plastic packaging and seek out those who have changed to non-plastic packaging for online orders! Have a look at this video and use your voice and your dollars as a conscious consumer - get them to #takeitback! #byebyeplastic

17.01.2022 How are you going as a shopper saying no to single use plastic? Are you vocal about your views at the checkout or to your local store manager? Every conversation counts and gets noticed by the businesses you frequent. Businesses will listen to you - the shopper - above everyone else. You can change things - the power is in your hands! talk about #byebyeplastic #helloBYO #makeapledgetoday www.byebyeplastic.org.au

There are also prizes up for grabs from local businesses as well as live music from local musicians playing all day! The Glebe Harbours...ide Scavenge is coming up on Saturday the 23rd of November at Ewen Park and we want to make sure the community knows as it will be a great opportunity to get together and create some positive impact. More details on the event page below!

14.01.2022 If your business is serious about increasing its Community Engagement and passionate about reducing plastic pollution, why not become a Plastic Neutral Citizen?... Offset your business and individual plastic waste footprint by helping to fund a plastic recycling facility in a remote and vulnerable community. These portable facilities are placed in remote coastal communities which are then educated about the issues of plastic waste ending up in the ocean. They retrieve the waste and then process it back into filament to sell for profits or use for new products that they can use. More jobs and financial sustainability for the community, and keeping waste plastic out of the ocean. Win:Win! To find out more check out Plastic Collective

12.01.2022 Worried about the amount of single use plastic being used during COVID19? North Sydney Council have developed some guidelines to help consumers and businesses navigate the complexities of health versus excess plastic. Please share widely!

11.01.2022 It is fitting that in #plasticfreejuly we re-embrace the reusable BYO cups and bottles and say #byebyeplastic when getting take-out coffee and drinks. There has been a big push back by cafes mainly fearful of Covid consequences but scientists now debunking that myth. Don't be afraid to ask at your cafe, put the cup down and ask them to refill it for you. Don't be offended if they say no, there could be a myriad of reasons . But the more customers who speak up will make a difference as the message gets through - we want to say byebyeplastic and Hello BYO!

10.01.2022 Great work UTS: University of Technology Sydney for eliminating single use petroleum based plastic from the food court. Yes you are using bio-plastic PLA which requires industrial composting facilities but you are also doing your best to ensure proper disposal of this material from your food courts and encouraging re-usables where possible. No-one ever said it was going to be easy but thank you for leading the way and continuing to raise the awareness by showing others that it can be done. Its a slow road to making changes stick, keep it up and keep us posted!

04.01.2022 Well done Northbridge (2063) Sustainability Group for working with local cafes to get them to accept reusable coffee cups in these challenging times!

03.01.2022 You may not realise how easy it is to reduce your single use plastic footprint. It just takes a little bit of prior planning! Our colleague Inna did her homework, got all prepared with a BYO container, bottle of soy and a tube of wasabi then headed up the road to our local sushi bar here in Gordon on Sydney's North Shore! Absolutely no problems with using her BYO container and a few others noted what a great idea! Go Inna! #byebyeplastic #helloBYO Loving Living Ku-ring-gai #WarOnWasteAU
