25.01.2022 PLEASE READ THIS MESSAGE FROM HOPE Im writing to ask you to take urgent action today to help save vulnerable lives. Tasmanian independent MP Mike Gaffney has released his draft euthanasia bill.... It is the most extreme euthanasia bill in Australia. It allows euthanasia for those for who are not terminally ill and for whom death is not imminent, without face-to-face consultation, and a final request could be approved in as little as 4 days after a persons first request. Thats why Im calling for your urgent action today even if you live outside Tasmania. Heres how you can take important action to stop this bill before its too late: If you live in Tasmania, please sign this petition today, calling on the Tasmanian Parliament to stop this extreme euthanasia bill. If you live outside Tasmania, please share this link with your friends and family on social media and ask anyone you know in Tasmania to take action. Thank you for your support. Together we can make a stand for life. Yours sincerely, Branka van der Linden Director, HOPE Authorised by Branka van der Linden, HOPE (Preventing Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide) Limited, Canberra

25.01.2022 Encouraging news! Queenslands Liberal National Party (LNP) has declared its intention to "review" Queenslands abortion laws if it wins government at the 31 October state election. Speaking to the Brisbane Times today, a spokesman for the LNP shared their plans to "review gestation limits, counselling arrangements and protections against abortion coercion". Last year the LNP passed a resolution that babies born alive in failed abortions be given medical care.... While Cherish Life welcomes the LNPs concern for the unborn and pregnant women, we are concerned that a "review" is not a commitment to roll back Queenslands abortion laws, and that a review could drag on for many months or even a year. In the meantime, there could be thousands of more babies killed by abortion. What we would like is quick and decisive legislative action in favour of the unborn. Our current abortion laws are so cruel and extreme they require an axe to be taken to them, not just a few delicate amendments at a later date. Cherish Life calls on the LNP for a stronger commitment to protecting unborn babies and pregnant women. Meanwhile, the Katter Australian Party (KAP) has strongly stated they will be seeking every opportunity to roll back our states extreme abortion laws. While the Queensland chapter of One Nation Party (ONP) has been publicly condemning Labors abortion laws on social media, at the same time the official Qld ONP policy on abortion remains unclear. What is clear is that abortion is increasingly becoming an election issue. While its obvious Labor / Greens must be ousted to have any hope of changing our state abortion laws, the question remains - which individuals and parties will best protect human life? We will update you in future communications as we continue to canvass candidates and parties on their views on life.

23.01.2022 Under South Australias COVID-19 Emergency Response 2020 Act dangerous DIY "telehealth" home abortions may be legalised early this week via a declaration by the State Emergency Co-ordinator - the Police Commissioner, Grant Stevens. This Emergency Act, which bypasses all normal democratic processes, has been hijacked by extreme abortion law advocates, who are using it to push their agenda. It actually seems premeditated. South Australias pro-abortion Deputy-Premier and Attorn...ey-General, Vickie Chapman, as well as other pro-abortion politicians, have been on ABC radio in recent weeks singing the praises of "telehealth abortions". Its outrageous. Dangerous killing laws are the last thing South Australians need, particularly at this time. South Australian residents are encouraged to email the SA Police Commissioner today at [email protected] marking it to the attention of the POLICE COMMISSIONER - GRANT STEVENS in the subject line, asking him to reject this extreme law change. Points you may like to mention: - These laws would make pregnant women and girls very vulnerable to domestic violence by effectively making the home an abortion centre. - These types of abortions are very dangerous with almost a 10% complication rate. To allow them to occur in the home with no adequate follow-up is particularly dangerous. - We dont need (or want) dangerous DIY home abortions in our state - tragically there are already state-funded abortions for any reason up to 28 weeks gestation in South Australia. - Underage girls would be able to access these abortions without parental consent. It is completely unacceptable. - Sadly, abortions are already treated as an "essential service" in South Australia even during the COVID-19 pandemic and a woman can easily get an abortion under the current laws. - This seems a premeditated move by the SA Parliament members who are affiliated with the abortion lobby to have DIY home abortions enshrined in SA law. Such a dangerous and extreme proposed law change should be subject to the democratic process of parliamentary scrutiny and debate. For SA residents; to email the SA Police Commission click here [email protected]

20.01.2022 On Monday The Courier-Mail published an opinion piece titled Issues of birth and death could cost Labor at Qld election by Sky News host and Newscorp columnist Peter Gleeson. It capably argued that the issues of abortion and euthanasia may cost the Palaszczuk Labor Government the election. The column showcased Cherish Lifes forthcoming campaign: "The pro-life movement Cherish Life is about to let Queensland voters know about Labors strong pro-abortion stance. ... "It has drawn up a hit list of 14 Labor seats and one held by the Greens which they say are vulnerable on October 31. "They include Townsville, Whitsunday, Gaven, Mundingburra, Mansfield, Maiwar, Barron River, Redlands, Keppel, Cairns, Springwood, Redcliffe, Pine Rivers, Mount Ommaney and Thuringowa. All seats are held by margins of up to 5 per cent. "Cherish Life will also mount campaigns to retain five LNP seats that it sees as crucial to an LNP [conservative government] win. "Cherish Life says, based on number-crunching from previous elections, it can influence a seat by anything up to 3.5 per cent. It says many swinging voters are appalled that the new pro-abortion legislation, passed in State Parliament in 2018, allows babies to be aborted with the approval of two doctors right up to birth, or full term..." Its an important part of rolling back Queenslands barbaric full-term abortion laws to let everyone know that it was Labor which drafted and pushed through these laws. Media regularly mentioning these laws is one aspect, another is community education and engagement - so please do let everyone you can know, and please consider volunteering for our campaign. This issue alone has the power to shift masses of votes and help unseat pro-abortion Labor. Polling shows that the vast majority of Queenslanders oppose abortion up to birth, and only 6 in 100 Queenslanders agree with it. Our campaign will be against key Labor MPs and one Greens MP rather than supporting a particular party or candidate. In several marginal seats where there is a committed pro-life MP whose seat is under threat, we will run a campaign to let voters in those electorates know about Labors commitment to open-slather abortion. We are literally fighting for lives and future generations. To volunteer to help with the campaign please click here. We hope to raise $75,000 in much-needed election funds before 31 July. We are grateful for any amount that you can give. Please note that because Cherish Life is a advocacy group and not a charity, donations to us are not tax deductible. DONATE to the fight for LIFE > Thanks for what you do for life. God bless. Teeshan Johnson Executive Director | Cherish Life Queensland

17.01.2022 In an extraordinary move this week, the Queensland government released a report recommending euthanasia and assisted suicide be legalised in the state. Given that medical resources both in Australia and around the world are currently being deployed to fight the global pandemic and save lives, the release of this report might be described as tone-deaf. What is even more concerning about the recommendations is that a key safeguard has been eliminated in the Qld report In the we...ek before handing down its euthanasia report, the Queensland government also released a report which outlines the scale of the Queensland health crisis in relation to end-of-life and palliative care. As we all continue to stay home and do our part to help stop the spread of the COVID 19 virus, I urge us all to look out for one another, and make sure that, as much as possible, we are reaching out to people we know who are vulnerable or isolated and who may need connection and practical Authorised by Branka van der Linden, HOPE (Preventing Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide)

16.01.2022 Sanity prevails!

16.01.2022 Australias largest abortion provider Marie Stopes Australia (MSA), which performs around 40,000 out of Australias 70,000 to 80,000 abortions a year, may be forced to shut its doors due to a lack of personal protective equipment (PPE). MSA has complained it only has about two weeks supply of surgical masks and hand sanitiser left, which are required for performing surgical abortions. The profit-making abortion giant has had orders for PPE canceled or refused because the sup...plies are required for frontline medical staff fighting the coronavirus pandemic. MSAs chief executive, Jamal Hakim, complained: "Many PPE suppliers do not consider abortion to be healthcare." We couldnt agree more. Very encouragingly, the Australian Government also has declined requests from MSA for PPE, suggesting instead that they go to Chemist Warehouse to try to purchase them there. Cherish Life applauds the Australian Government and wholesalers reserving PPE for true medical professionals who save lives and not abortionists. Additionally, elective surgery around Australia is being canceled, and since around 98% of abortions in Australia are for convenience, i.e. "elective surgery", it is only fair that they are canceled too. If MSA is forced to shut its doors, the lives of thousands of babies would be saved and their mothers rescued from the heartbreak of abortion. It would be one good thing that has resulted from this terrible pandemic.

15.01.2022 Big news: Pauline Hansens One Nation Party (ONP) Queensland chapter released a RIGHT TO LIFE policy today. It is unprecedented in Australia for any political party to issue such a detailed "Right to Life" policy. 11.01.2022 We dont want this happening here. An NHS whistleblower has leaked an email that reveals that two women have died after using DIY home abortion services. One woman died very quickly with sepsis whilst seeking urgent care at a hospitals accident and emergency department after taking DIY abortion pills. A second woman was found dead at home the morning after starting the medical abortion process. The leaked email also revealed that there is a murder investigation underw...ay into the death of a baby delivered alive after a woman used the DIY abortion service. This is likely the tip of the iceberg when it comes to womens lives being put in danger and illegal late-term abortions occuring using these services. In May, it was revealed UK police were investigating the death of an unborn baby after its mother took DIY home abortion pills while 28 weeks pregnant. In addition, abortion provider BPAS announced that it was investigating a further eight cases of women taking DIY home abortion pills beyond the 10-week limit for medical abortion

09.01.2022 Vote Prolife in Queensland, put Labor last

09.01.2022 VAD DELAY WELCOME, BUT IT AFFIRMS LABOR HAS BECOME A PARTY OF DEATH "While we acknowledge that the Premier has adhered to due process by referring the draft Voluntary Assisted Dying legislation to the Queensland Law Reform Commission, and has resisted the push from extremists to rush through euthanasia laws, we are still disappointed there is any appetite for euthanasia legislation from the government - especially now that Jackie Trad has gone from Cabinet," Teeshan Johns...on, Cherish Life executive director said. Its also very disappointing that the Government continues to ignore Queenslands glaring palliative care deficit, with only one-third of the palliative care specialists needed. This gross neglect needs to be addressed urgently. Politically speaking, Labor is already in the doghouse with many voters, including those in Labor heartland, after the passing of brutal abortion-to-birth law in 2018. This latest killing agenda feeds into the narrative that Labor has become the party of death and it will be easier to oust them now. Such legislation is also particularly dangerous in a state where there is already a massive suicide problem, with the highest rate in Australia. Many jurisdictions where euthanasia has been legalised have reported an increase in non-assisted suicide rates too. The Netherlands, for example, legalised euthanasia in 2002, and its total suicide rate has increased by over 110%, including a rise in the non-assisted suicide rate of 10%. Legalising VAD would lead to more suicides in Queensland, not less. If Labor thinks making euthanasia an election issue will win them votes, they are deceived as well as unethical. Unlike abortion which can be a massive vote-swayer, euthanasia support or opposition is neither a vote winner or loser. Victoria is a point in case- Labor politicians who voted against VAD legislation received a 0.02% swing against them and Liberal politicians who supported euthanasia a 0.02% swing against them. The results are negligible and may well be attributed to other factors. Once again Labor has crossed a dangerous line, and they will pay for it at the election. 01.01.2022 Dear supporters of Life The email below is from the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane. While Cherish Life Qld is not a Catholic organisation, we must acknowledge that traditionally the Catholic Church is a great supporter of Life. Much of the information contained is similar to that which I recently sent out from the Hope organisation and indeed there is a link to Hope below - a recognised organisation in the battle specifically for end-of-life matters.... Dear Friends, It has been a little while since we have been in touch. However the recent release of the Parliamentary Health Committee of Inquiry Report into the suitability of euthanasia and assisted suicide (also known as VAD) makes it a good time to reconnect. In case you missed it, on March 31 the Committee Chair, Aaron Harper, recommended that the State of Queensland move towards legalising euthanasia and assisted suicide. This was in spite of ample evidence to show that palliative care, if properly funded, would do much to alleviate the need for euthanasia and assisted suicide. The committee urged the Queensland parliament to use the draft legislation of QUT academics Willmott and White as a basis for a legislative scheme rather than waiting to see the results of legislation in other Australian jurisdictions. The Willmott and White draft suggests a model with no time limits, allowing nurses to make medical assessments and no mechanism for psychological review. A more expansive version of the Victorian Model with fewer safeguards. This is a truly scary prospect for all those people who value the dignity of the individual and the protection of human life. Fortunately whilst COVID-19 lockdowns are in place it is unlikely the State Parliament will have the time or sitting days available to them to debate nor vote upon such legislation in this term and possibly the next. This is not to say it shouldnt be considered an election issue in 2020, and every encouragement is still given for you to make contact with your local MP on the matter. It is important to note though that this is currently only a recommendation, not a government bill, so we are not fighting against any particular political party. Rather we are fighting to make sure it will be defeated if tabled. By contacting your local MPs in large numbers they will come to know this is a hot button issue and one they probably wont want to be endorsing or bringing to a vote should they form government. Please be sure to stay in touch with this issue as we head deeper into the year. If you havent already, you can receive the latest news updates or easily contact your local state MP by signing up at the HOPE

01.01.2022 A euthanasia study in the Netherlands has found that the most common treatment for personality disorders was not even tried in more than a quarter of cases where people were euthanised for psychiatric reasons. Why did these patients not receive the care they needed? In Australia, the entire population is taking up the call and staying home in an effort to stop the spread of the Coronavirus. However, one doctor in Victoria appears to be lobbying against the prohibition on providing euthanasia by telehealth. As we approach the long weekend, I wish you all a very safe and happy Easter! During this time, it is important that we continue to look out for those in our communities who are vulnerable or alone and in need of assistance or support.

01.01.2022 From Hope Australia If you want to see where euthanasia is headed, look back to where it began. Jack Kevorkian, an early champion and architect of euthanasia, was very clear that allowing the practice for the terminally ill was just a formality; an early distasteful obligation. Is his chilling vision for a nakedly utilitarian society one that is already being realised? ... Or is the current global pandemic an unexpected opportunity for our society to pause, reflect and press reset on the direction towards which we are headed? One of the unexpected consequences of the current global pandemic is that COVID-19 is providing a window into the world of euthanasia, and its suddenly looking less essential. Our choices and our advocacy have the ability to decide the type of society we will become
