23.01.2022 In parts of Australia, the bushfire season has already begun.

21.01.2022 Ever wondered how fast a grass fire can move? With the @Bureau of Meteorology predicting a warm and wet spring there is likely to be good grass and crop growth across NSW. With this growth will come the increased risk of grass fires. Maintain your property, be prepared and have a plan.

Even more so... if you plan to build on bush fire prone land. You want your home to be sustainable, stylish, and comfortable. But most importantly, you want your family to be safe. Is it possible to have it all? Join me Damir Jurkovic who has just finished building his own house in BAL flame zone, Craig Burley who has over 30 years experience in bushfire consulting and me Cory Webb who loves educating people about sustainability and bushfire compliant building design at our webinar on July 16th. 12.01.2022 Are you prepared for #bushfire? Although the 2020/21 fire season will be driven by vastly different climate drivers than the previous two fire seasons, now is t...ime to ensure you’re prepared. Tidy up around the home, make a bushfire plan (and involve your kids in the process) and don't forget about backup plans and what you'll do with your pets and other animals. Our #bushfireoutlook shows fire risk through to November - fires are a regular occurrence in Australia, and areas designated as normal fire potential may still see fires. https://bit.ly/3lpl1Dd Queensland Fire and Emergency Services - QFES| NSW Rural Fire Service| Bushfires NT| Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services| SA Country Fire Service| CFA (Country Fire Authority)| Forest Fire Management Victoria| Vic Emergency| Tasmania Fire Service| ACT Emergency Services Agency| Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA| Parks and Wildlife Service, Western Australia| Bureau of Meteorology| AFAC News| ABC Emergency

12.01.2022 We welcome today’s announcement from the Australian Government to continue funding #naturalhazards research in Australia by investing $88.1 million over the nex...t 10 years. According to the Government the funding will support the transition of the current Bushfire and Natural Hazards Cooperative Research Centre to a new, world-class research centre for natural hazard resilience and disaster risk reduction. Importantly, we will receive $2 million to immediately investigate key issues from the 2019/20 bushfire season. https://bit.ly/3jx7nNy

11.01.2022 Featured in the latest Fire Australia mag is a great article by Daniel May (The Australian National University) about the history and politicisation of #prescribedburning in Royal Commissions. Read the full article here: https://bit.ly/37JmFZZ AFAC News | FPA Australia

08.01.2022 Dormant ‘zombie fires’ are burning in the Arctic. The so-called "zombie fires", which are remnants of record blazes seen last year, may be reemerging due to an unusually warm and dry spring.

07.01.2022 Firefighters are completing a number of hazard reduction burns across the state today. This includes a number around the Sydney area. A southerly change is curr...ently moving up the coast which will help clear most of the smoke from the Sydney area.
