25.01.2022 Ceremonial opening of the 57th Queensland Parliament

25.01.2022 I tell you what, if you haven't been to Preston Fresh Seafood Retail recently it's definitely worth a visit! They are now doing fresh premade meals in bulk along with fresh fish and chips! I caught up with Max and the team today who received an adaption grant to assist with the retail and takeaway side to the business. Providing support for businesses is an important part of our unite and recover strategy to drive our economic recovery but it’s also vital that we all pull t...ogether to support local operators like this whenever we can. PS round two of these grants is still open for small businesses in regional Qld. If your business has been affected by COVID and haven’t applied you should look into it ASAP. 25.01.2022 Tickets available now! Wednesday March 17, 7pm at Event Cinemas Cairns central, tickets are $22. Women of Steel is a story of perseverance and comradeship, told with emotion and humour. It offers inspiration to those who seek justice and equality against seemingly impossible odds.

24.01.2022 More good news for Cairns this morning We’re investing $15 million to acquire land to build the new Cairns University Hospital It’s a crucial further step o...n top of our $52.9 million commitment in upgrades to transition the Cairns Hospital into a university hospital in partnership with James Cook University. The facility will provide better health care for the Far North and allow us to welcome the future generation of health professionals to learn and train in Cairns. My government’s vision is to protect Queenslanders’ health and to support projects that will create jobs now and into the future, here in the Far North and throughout the state. #qldjobs Steven Miles - Health & Ambulance Services Minister & MP for Murrumba Michael Healy MP Craig Crawford MP Cynthia Lui MP - Member for Cook

24.01.2022 BREAKING: 2021 Anzac Day dawn services, marches and public commemorations will go ahead as normal.

23.01.2022 Would you choose to buy local grown produce from the supermarket if you knew which ones were local? Now you can. What a great initiative! #buylocal #buylocalcairns #supportlocalbusiness

23.01.2022 Who saw the Drum 'Cairns special' on ABC last night? ABC Reporter Alan Kohler predicts Cairns may become a "ghost town" if JobKeeper doesn't continue. We are calling on Scott Morrison (ScoMo), Warren Entsch MP and the Federal Government to extend its JobKeeper scheme to assist struggling local industries in Cairns and the Far North who rely heavily on international tourism. Currently, the JobKeeper program ends on the 28th of March 2021, with no plans for further extension by the Morrison Government.

22.01.2022 WE HAVE DELIVERED on Smithfield Fire Station. I was extremely proud as both MP for Barron River, & Minister for Fire & Emergency Services, to provide a brand new, state-of-the-art Fire Station for our community in Smithfield. $2.38 million dollars & the brand new station delivered. While the LNP were in government they cut 14000 frontline workers from government service which adversely affected Queenslanders, while Deb Frecklington was assistant treasurer to Campbell Newman. . We cannot afford that again.

21.01.2022 I will be stopping at 11am today in honour of those who gave their todays for our tomorrows. Who's with me? I encourage all my fellow Queenslanders today and on every Remembrance Day to do the same in honour of those who have served. We will remember them.

21.01.2022 A heart felt performance by Archie Roach last night at the ARIAs. His song ‘Took The Children Away’ is an important reminder of our dark history. It’s estimated that as many as 1 in 3 Indigenous children were taken from their families. ... Stolen Generations survivors have suffered a huge amount of grief and trauma, losing their connections to family, identity, land, language and culture. Acknowledging this suffering is an important step towards healing and reconciliation. That’s why we have made sure that truth telling and healing will form a key part of Path to Treaty.

20.01.2022 #ThrowbackThursday to a pretty special moment - the 2000 Summer Olympics torch relay. Fun fact, it was also the first time the flame was taken underwater, with a special flare-like torch taken on a dive down to the Great Barrier Reef.

19.01.2022 It was awesome to catch up with 'Maisey' the 6 month old joey and of course Shai and Jan from the The Agile Project - Wildlife Rescue this morning! My staff and I look forward to your regular updates and cuddles with the joeys. Congratulations on all your hard work and all the best with the relocation project. You certainly have my support - we are big animal lovers in this office!

19.01.2022 WE HAVE DELIVERED ON ROADS in Barron River. While the previous LNP Government did no major road projects in their entire term of government, & further sacked road workers, the Palaszczuk Government have really stepped up. We have delivered over $200 million dollars on road infrastructure in Barron River. Look around & see the progress for yourself. If ever you wanted to compare governments, this is a great example of which party really works for you and puts Queenslanders first.

18.01.2022 Another one for the Christmas calendar! Freshwater Festival - Friday 11 December, 5:30pm - 10:30pm. Hope to see you there!

18.01.2022 WE HAVE DELIVERED ON EARL HILL. This glorious space was owned by a developer & was at risk of being developed however the Palaszczuk Government purchased the land & have secured this amazing area for use by local outdoor enthusiasts. The Earl Hill Walking Track has been developed & this hill is used every day by people exploring the outdoors in our tropical paradise. We deliver where nobody else has & we are proud of it. It can't always be about cuts and selling assets, we are committed to putting Queenslanders first, always have & always will.

17.01.2022 If you would like us to send you a postal vote form please register via my website https://www.craigcrawford.com.au/postal-votes & my team will send them out to you.

17.01.2022 The Palaszczuk Labor Government is working hard to deliver for Queensland's economic recovery plan while keeping Queenslanders safe. On October 31, vote for Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor. #qldjobs #queensland

17.01.2022 We are excited to deliver for our film industry, Port Douglas & our region. Queensland Government has supported this project with funding that will create over 100 jobs and boost tourism, boost business and boost the marketing of our great region to the world. This all demonstrates our Governments commitment to unite and recover as we build Queensland to be stronger. We have a strong regional Queensland Economic Recovery Plan and we are committed to putting Queenslanders first.

17.01.2022 With the rush of the Christmas shopping season fast approaching, it is important to think about the safety of the gifts we are buying for our littlest family members, before they are placed under the tree. Since September our Fair-Trading Inspectors have been out in force making sure toys meet our high safety standards just in time for Christmas. Shoppers need to be on alert when shopping for Christmas toys this year, with six toys landing on Santa’s unsafe list this year.... These include: 2x plush toys A wooden alphabet puzzle A wooden number puzzle A magnetic number puzzle and, A rainbow circle stacker For information on safety standards and product bans, visit www.productsafety.gov.au. Any concerns about unsafe toys should be reported to the OFT at www.qld.gov.au/fairtrading or by calling 13 QGOV (13 74 68).

13.01.2022 RESCUE HELICOPTERS DELIVERED! As a former paramedic I know firsthand the importance of a reliable & professional rescue helicopter service for our region. Our government invested $46 million in purchasing two new Augusta Westland AW139 helicopters from Italy & had them specially fitted by a Queensland business, creating jobs for Queenslanders, and ensuring we have the best configured aircraft to world class standard. Further, as Minister of Fire & Emergency Services I oversaw... the induction of additional helicopter providers for other emergency operations in Far North Queensland to keep Queensland Government Air more available for specialist aeromedical taskings & rescues. We have a world class professional helicopter rescue service in Far North Queensland & I am proud of what we have delivered. #QGAir #Aeromedical #Rescue #Helicopter #Paramedic

13.01.2022 Yesterday I caught up with Margaret, the manager of Yaps to check in on how they were going during the pandemic. Whilst there I met this gorgeous 6yo cattle-dog 'Nikki' who is currently up for adoption! She is very friendly and looking for her forever home with a big back yard, high fence and active owner. Let's get her adopted Barron River! Tag anyone you think may be suitable and looking for a new best friend. For more info click here: https://www.yaps.org.au/animals-adoption/dogs-for-adoption/

10.01.2022 A $30 million investment by the Palaszczuk Government will deliver two new wharves for the Port of Cairns and a business case to grow further as a key centre for maintaining and repairing large defence vessels. Premier Palaszczuk said, "Global economic conditions have been hit hard by COVID-19, but my Government is determined that the Far North, like all of Queensland, will emerge strongly from the downturn. Working with Ports North, the construction of these new wharves in... Cairns will expand the capacity to carry out in-water maintenance on vessels used by the Australian Defence Force and Australian Border Force. The funding would deliver 150 new jobs during construction at the Cairns Marine Precinct. The announcement is a major initiative of the Cairns/FNQ Regional Recovery Action Plan to support economic recovery and create jobs.

10.01.2022 WE HAVE DELIVERED ON JOBS. Through all our infrastructure projects in Barron River - roads, schools, boat ramps, upgrades to tourist spots etc we are creating hundreds of local jobs. This is all part of the Palaszczuk Government's strong Regional Economic Recovery Plan. While the LNP cut jobs, cut funding & cut services, we are known to deliver. Our track record proves it, sadly so does there's.... #qldjobs #Recovery

06.01.2022 With the Palaszczuk Government set to hand down our 2020 Budget today, I thought I would take the opportunity to introduce you all to my new Ministerial portfolio for this term of Government, and highlight some of our key priorities over the coming months and year.

05.01.2022 This year’s NAIDOC Week theme ‘Always Was, Always Will Be’ recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. It’s important we come together to acknowledge the histories, cultures, customs and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders. When it comes to fostering reconciliation and strengthening Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, I am proud to be a part of a Palaszczuk Government that ...is making real progress. For the first time in Queensland’s history, we are delivering Path to Treaty for Queenslanders. Based on mutual understanding, respect and recognition Path to Treaty will improve life outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. We are delivering Path to Treaty, because it Always Was, Always Will Be. #NAIDOC2020 #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe

While we can never take away the weight of your loss, across Australia, the entire policing family, is here to support you. To those who continue to serve, we thank you.... #NeverForgotten

03.01.2022 The Palaszczuk Government’s $21.25 million Household Resilience Program is keeping local tradies on the tools, and homeowners safe during the global pandemic. Under Phase 2, 54 grants have been awarded to Barron River Electorate homeowners to source local contractors for cyclone-proofing upgrades. What could be better than being able to help local businesses weather the financial storm, while also helping homeowners weather the real storms.
