24.01.2022 Kate Judith created this great story while playing the Game of Global Futures for our "Remaking Nature" Course #FLremaking --- inspired by her reading of an #ecomodernist #manifesto. Live storytelling event on Google+ http://tinyurl.com/EH-global-futures-game happening soon! Far over the mountains by a remote and beautiful lake lay a pretty village. Each summer a group of academics from the big city met there to work together because the calmness and beauty inspired their wo...rk, and because it gave them a holiday from their busy lives in the dirty city. So inspired were they by this wonderful landscape that they decided to write an Ecomodernist Manifesto to try to protect pristine places like this. But one day, some of the local villagers who provided the food, cooked, cleaned and carried the luggage for the academics overheard the academics’ discussions. They were alarmed to hear that the academics thought this place was pristine. Could the academics not see how well the animals and forests were tended by the gods and by their own prayers and tending? And was the great damage to their glacial water source not caused by carbon pollution from the city? Together they wrote their own manifesto called the Liveliness Manifesto. They gave it to the academics. Fortunately for civilization as we know it, the much humbled academics reconsidered their position. See more
