15.01.2022 A sailor of the Royal Australian Navy Beach Commando signaling ship off shore with an Aldis Lamp, during the landings on Tarakan Island, May 1945. The RAN Beach... Commando was formed in January 1944. Their task was to accompany army units during the initial stages of a beach assault, they would conduct reconnaissance of the beach head, sign post the area, coordinate landing craft and beach traffic and communicate with the naval vessels offshore. The assault on Tarakan, Operation Oboe One, was the units first action and detachments supported the subsequent Australian landings at Brunei, Labaun and Balikpapan. See more

13.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Private Braiden Russell who tragically passed away 30 Oct 2020. PTE Braiden Russell enlisted in to the ...Australian Army in 2018. Braiden completed IET’s at Singleton and was well known for doing exceedingly well in everything he put his mind too. Braiden was everyone’s mate. He was the most harmless, well meaning person ever and had so much passion for the Army. Unfortunately, our ability to compartmentalize things, hide our emotions, and continue fronting up and being a warrior, in the face of extreme adversity, and taking the highs and lows of life in our stride...takes its toll. We’re sorry that you felt you couldn't share your burden with your brothers, and kept your secrets from everyone that could have intervened. Never above you. Never below you. Always beside you. Brothers by choice. Whether you are serving or ex-serving, know that we are a community that helps each other out. Please reach out to your mate for help if you need it. There is so much out there now to help you and most importantly, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. 02.01.2022 RSL Sub Branch Diggers XMAS Lunch 2020 photos. A big shout out to all those who helped to organise and make this a great event for our Veterans. Thanks to the entertainers, Country Blue. Thanks to Elaine and the catering staff for a beautiful meal. Thanks to the bar staff who never want to see another Lemon, Lime and Bitters.... To all the WSO's who do an amazing job right throughout the year and were so helpful with preparations for the XMAS party. Thanks to our glorious leader Brian for providing the trivia quiz. There may be a TV contract around the corner. Last but not least Santas elves, Jennifer and Abdul (AKA Gavin). Next year will be even better !!!! See more
